I spent 3 nights there in Dec 2022 and would be happy to stay there again if i revisit Faroe Islands.
Central location which is close to bus terminal with supermarkets nearby. Quiet and clean room. Hot shower.
Breakfast portion is big enough for me to pack the unfinished sandwich as lunch. The Indian buffet lunch is delicious and reasonably priced even if the options available are relatively limited (considering it is 62 degree N, not India Ocean).
Friendly staff shared useful transportation information, and cared about the safety of a lone traveler by reminding me to tell the front desk where i was heading to and the expected return time everyday.

Lilja is a gracious host, very friendly and warm and her house is a wonderful place to stay. I had a lovely time and we had great and interesting conversations, she gave me good recommendations and the breakfasts were delicious! I would recommend to anyone who wants to feel like home away from home (and the cats are so cute!) Hopefully will visit again!

Postcard perfect village and if u look back across the harbour at night with the lights its magical. Little beach with incredible view up the right hand coastline provided perfect backdrop for doing tai chi.
Not too many amenities available like any of the villages outside torshavn and klaksvik so would recommend a visit to fk or bonus supermarket which is not far out the airport if u take a right rather than left to sorvagur. Bonus is cheaper.

Sandavágur is a quiet village, and besides its beautiful church does not stand out too much. It is quite conveniently located, only 10 km from the airport. Options for eating out, or even grocery shopping are limited within the village, and require travel to neighbouring villages. The local fish restaurant is highly recommended!
Some walking tracks are available, but it does not require a multi-day stay to visit the village and its immediate area. It is possible, but not ideal, to travel the Faroe Islands without a car.

For us, Leirvik was a base from which to explore other areas. We enjoyed the quiet location and water views but didn't spend time in town. Leirvik doesn't have restaurant options but that was fine with us as we prepared our own meals. We did dine one evening at the Gjaargardur Guesthouse in Gjogv, which is about 45 minutes away by car, and highly recommend that restaurant.

Gasadalur is a picturesque little village with a beautiful waterfall and great hiking options. There is a small cliff with lots of puffins when we were there. Beautiful sunsets can be wwatched there as well.

I’m my opinion The Faroe Islands are not a holiday...
I’m my opinion The Faroe Islands are not a holiday destination, but rather activity one. The weather is very changeable one minute to the next, and the beaches are all black sand, or volcanic dust, not ideal for sunbathing. The islands are quite small and most places of interest can be visited in no more that two days. Having said that the people are very nice and friendly, and if you want a hiking break they are ideal. I only stayed three full days, but saw all the islands in that time.
Would I recommend the Islands, well yes but know where you are going and what type of break you want.

A very nice village with a small port. Very close to the airport in a wonderful Fjord! I lived close to the ferry to Mykines, although I couldn´t make it that time. It´s just a short car drive to Gasadalur and the lakes. There is also a nice cafe in the center, close to the supermarket which is open from 8-22, 6 days a week. A perfect location to explore the beautiful islands!

Sandavagur is a beautiful place with lovely views and great hiking trails. We especially recommend a hike to the Witch's Finger. There is a small local grocery shop and a cafe' as well in the village.

The hiking and views, which pictures and explaining just don't capture. I didn't find the Faroes to be a tourist trap type of location. Not a lot of shopping, not a lot of dining, just views, quiet and things that seemed a bit more expensive than elsewhere, most likely because it's an island in the middle of the Atlantic that has to have things imported. The roads and tunnels are well made, but sheep and cattle can be in the road and so I'd recommend doing the speed limit, especially on blind curves. Everyone I met was friendly and healthy. The gas station has some pretty good hot dogs.
