The chateau is beautiful, photos do not do it justice. It is more impressive in real life. The building, the staircase, the grounds, all are beautiful. The rooms are very spacious. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. An atmosphere of calm prevails throughout. Old beautiful with modern amenities such as a reliable lift and efficient air conditioning and we were there on some very hot days. The parking is secure behind a security gate right next to the chateau. You can have breakfast outside in the beautiful grounds which is a lovely start to the day. It is a 12 minute walk at a slow pace as it was so hot into the old town of Samaur which was also perfect. Very helpful and friendly staff.

We had an extremely comfortable room with a good bed. The breakfast was good and varied. If you arrive late and do not want to look for a restaurant there is a good range of microwaved meals they can offer you. The hotel is very convenient for the railway station and for the car hire companies.

    This hotel was superb. It was in a lovely quiet spot with clear views. It felt like a very special place and a real treat. We would return again without hesitation.     We had the room in the cave. 2 stories. Something truly unique for trying it once (there is higher humidity in such a cave as you can't get the air exchanged easily). Super helpful staff. Wonderful breakfast (local products). Nice restaurant nearby (recommended by the hotel's manager).

    Angers city is easily accessible from Nantes by train.

    Angers city is easily accessible from Nantes by train. (35Mins). Take a walk along the far side of the old bridge from the food hall and find the restaurants sited along the river bank, where most of the locals hang out. River boat trips can also be booked from this location. The Chateau museum is well worth a visit and provides a history and views of the city.

    Lovely relaxed atmosphere with some great restaurants. The Chateau was interesting but I've visited better. The Cavalry museum was informative and only 6 euros for entry. Loads of tourists around in August but this just added to the ambiance. Clean streets and no litter!

    We had a great stay with Jerome & Ye. The accommodation is ideally located in the centre of Cholet 5 minutes walk from the main square with a car park with VERY reasonable rate next door. We ate at Le Grande Cafe and La Conti Brasserie as we were too tired from busy days at Puy du Fou to walk any further!

    Unfortunately when we arrived at this walled Chateau the gates were closed and the doorbell was broken. We were unable to obtain access even though we tried for over an hour. The telephone number had a message in French which we could not understand and we were unable to gain any response to our emails. Only later in the evening were we able to establish contact after we had made other arrangements. They were apologetic and arranged a refund. From the outside through the railings and gate it looked like a very nice place, I wish we had been able to stay there.

    The city had many beautiful buildings to see and places to visit - one of our favourites from the many cities we have visited. The tourist office was extremely helpful and the city has a one and a half hour (without stops) blue line to follow to see all the sights.

    The Abbaye is impressive and fascinating to explore (allow a full day) but if the Modern Art Museum is closed ( as it was during our stay) there isn't a great deal more to see in the town. Saumur (20 minutes away) is a good place to go (we found a vast array of restaurants including a truly outstanding Lebanese and a fusion French/Colombian) and the Domaines for wine ( we visited Gratien & Meyer) are superb and you get to visit the vast tunnels under the cliffs and also taste (and buy probably!)

    This is a wonderful place to stay. We loved it. Set in beautiful countryside and very peaceful. The dinners were amazing. We had a table to ourselves in the conservatory the first night and enjoyed superb food and wine. The second night we dined with everyone else and it was a great experience.

    Doue is a place to visit with a plan in mind.

    Doue is a place to visit with a plan in mind. We visited for Les Journees de la Rose. We visited the Zoo and le Mystere des Faluns. But we misjudged Sunday evening closure of the hotel restaurant. Which rather took the edge off the Sunday. We were lucky that Le 18 restaurant offered us an early table.

    We were staying here as family live nearby but we like this end of Angers as it is right on the outside near the countryside and there are several nice reasonable restaurants here- Le Boucherie and Pizza Angevine, both near the Ace hotel , so very convenient. Also a very large Centrakor shop not far away which is well worth a visit! The centre of Angers is a nightmare with tram tracks and complicated traffic systems…

    The train around Angers was great but it would have been nice if one could get off and get back on and visit some of the spots, the castle was great. few spots l was interested in visiting but too far to walk for my friend especially with the heat the day we were there. otherwise, l enjoyed the town. the translation was good, just have to be careful it dosnt use all your darta
