    Where do I start! The house and its grounds are just beautiful and every inch has been thoughtfully decorated with the addition of carefully curated artwork, ornaments and lighting. Arrival was very smooth and we were shown around the villa and then to our room. We stayed in Le Vue which is right at the top of the house and so benefits from having 4 walls of magnificent windows. The room was light and airy and from the bed you could look out on to the bay and see the ebb and flow of the tide (I highly recommend spend the night with all the blinds up and the doors open to witness the sunrise and to listen to the waves and the hypnotising frog chorus) The hotel has an amazingly well equip kitchen that guests are welcome to use to cook their own food (or a chef can be provided on request) There is also an honesty policy so you can help your self to drinks and just tally what you have had. There is a comfy lounge area and my favourite a dark and cosy library with laddered shelf’s. The garden has a natural pool, sauna and sunbathing areas and a sweet little gate leads straight out on to the beach. I highly recommend heading to the beach and walking left to the old port where you will happen across the cutest fishing shack style restaurant which serves up amazing food. The lads there were super friendly and spoke great English. Nothing is too much trouble for Karin and her team and they really do encourage you to treat villa Tosca as a home from home. We will definitely be heading back.

    Amazing location Amazing restaurant. michelin star standard food, complete surprise. Amazing Spa, had very good massage and chilled in the pool, sauna and steam room Right nest to the Lake, views are so good, 3 minute walk to Culs Nuls beach next door to the mighty La Graviere, best peak on the beach in Hossegor, for a surfer and non surfer couple this hotel was epic.     The room had a huge window that made it bright and gave an excellent view of the beach to the north (although there were obviously rooms with even better views of the sea). Good-size balcony.     Bordeaux was a great city to visit!

    Bordeaux was a great city to visit! We went on an excellent wine tour to Saint-Emilion (Get Your Guide) and the meeting spot was so close to our hotel (bonus!) The Musee d'Illusion was so much fun! Unfortunately, our Get Your Guide river tour(Yacht de Bordeaux) was very disappointing because there was nobody at the meeting spot (in the middle of the street/tram line by a recycling bin and electric box). That was our first ever experience where a Get Your Guide tour seemed to be a scam. The company said that they emailed us but we didn't receive anything. Go with a different river cruise company!

    Bayone is a very historic city in the French side of the Basque Country. The old town is charming with plenty of chocolate shops. Saturday all the shops are open but Sunday the town is shut down so plan accordingly. We visited the Basque museum on Sunday - well worth a visit.

    Unfortunately, I was only here for a weekend trip, and I didn't have time to visit many of the local sights. A lovely area, especially if you like hiking. Biarritz is a 90 minute drive away and, of course, the Pyrenees are only a few hours drive away, too.

    Loved the dunes. Very difficult to park but our holiday was in peak season so understandable. Quality of food not great and expensive. The best meal we had was at the dunes and that was the cheapest too. Lots to do for everyone but next time we would go out of high season

    2 nights is plenty. Architecture is not to be missed. Crowds on market day are crazy unless you go to first thing in morning. The €5 panoramic glass lift is worth it. If you’re vegetarian or like plenty of salad/ vegetables you will struggle with all the restaurant menus foie gras and duck feature heavily.

    Saint-Jean-de-Luz is a very pleasant little town on the South-west coast of France. Its beach is nicely sheltered from the wild Bay of Biscay, making it safe and attractive. We stayed in a central hotel with easy access to some lovely bars and restaurants serving delicious local cuisine. It's an easy drive into the countryside; we climbed a mountain called Larrun, part of the Pyrenees, then easily back to St Jean de Luz for a swim and out for dinner! Also some good local shops.

You can pay with cash or bank card directly on the bus (you can only buy one ticket with a bank card, however) or you can buy a loaded card with ten tickets (which you can use for more than one person) at machines at train stations, principal stops and tobacconists. Timetables are given at bus stops and are accurate. Make sure you know when the public holidays are, as these affect public transport considerably. The bus journey to Biarritz station is less than half an hour (depending on the route they take) and from there you can travel quickly and inexpensively to St Jean de Luz, Bayonne and elsewhere. The three towns I have mentioned are so close by, yet so contrasting and are all worth a visit. The number 36 bus (a little further away from the apartment - maybe 8-10 mins walk) give you access to beaches up the coast, like La Madrague. I used Google Maps a lot and found its advise re: public transport super helpful. My teenage girls loved the frothy hot chocolate at Chez Cazenave in Bayonne, https://www.chocolats-bayonne-cazenave.fr/4-nos-chocolats. On our last night, we ate at Casa Juan Pedro, http://casajuanpedro.com/en/home, in Biarrtiz's old port. They were welcoming, and the food was delicious and simply presented (our party includes seafood enthusiasts and picky eaters).
