The aquarium, cathedral and old city wall’s walk were all very well worth doing. We enjoyed them all. We also enjoyed wandering through the fish markets. We were there to play golf so it was perfect for that as there are 3 courses a practice green and driving range all in one area, every where was really well maintained. We hired electric trolleys on 2 occasions and a push trolley for a 9 hole round The club house had extensive seating inside and on the patio area with food and drink freshly prepared In the town there are lots of bars for pre dinner drinks and restaurants of all types seafood is popular but there is plenty of other options It is very easy to walk everywhere and huge walk areas along the side of the sea front

Lovely town with a lot of history. The tour of the Boves under the tourist information is well worth a visit. We have visited Arras before and never knew they were there! Very friendly people. Parking in the Grand Place is very handy but quite expensive, 20 euros for 24 hrs, but there is also free parking about 10 mins walk away from the centre.

Nice stop over, 40 mins from Calais, en route for the south.

Nice stop over, 40 mins from Calais, en route for the south. We arrived on a late Sunday afternoon in August. It was easy to get to and small and quiet enough to get a taste of French life without feeling we'd missed too much. We wandered the streets, admiring the architecture, visited the museum as it was closing, stopped for a drink in a bar and shopped for basic ingredients at a local store. It felt safe. Perfect for a stop over. After leaving Saint Omer we drove south and stopped in Nemours for lunch, picking up picnic items from the supermarket and parking up in a big carpark on a very attractive part of the river. Would recommend as an alterrnative to the services.

We have visited Wissant many times before for days out and decided to stay in Hotel Normandy for this trip. The hotel is friendly and traditionally French which we liked, we ate breakfast and dinner in the hotel and especially enjoyed the set menu at dinner. The hotel is just a short walk to the beach and convenient for nearby bars and restaurants, it has an outside bar and terrace. Market day is Thursday in Wissant and is worth a look. Wissant is not a traditional destination for British tourists, but it’s one of our favourite places as it’s less commerciallised than many more towns along the Opal Coast.
