Staff was very attentive and very friendly whoever you spoke to and they all made sure we had a good experience. The food was really good too. The newer area of the hotel was very nicely decorated and clean, and the old part of the estate still had a very cosy feeling, especially the bar in the "library" where we could sit and have a few drinks after dinner.

I loved the look of the hotel when we first walked in! Then, when we were introduced to our bedroom, I was in love! It was beautiful, and the bedding was incredible! We had a fabulous night sleep in your lovely hotel! The dinner was incredible. My chicken curry was one to have again if possible. The apple crisp was delectable.

The Eastgate Arts Centre is excellent with a wide range of events, both on an evening and during the day. The walks from the town centre down to the River Tweed are well signed. The frequent express bus service to Edinburgh City Centre makes a day trip very easy, without using the car.

Selkirk is not particularly special but it is perfectly located to visit a myriad of interesting places, the most special being the Tapestry of Scotland in Galashiels. A must see, in my view even better than the Bayeux Tapestry. Melrose, Floors Castle, Peebles and many beautiful gardens are all nearby. Easy access to Edinburgh by road or train. 90 minutes to the wonderful Dumfries House.
