- From US$587.02 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 117 reviewsA wonderful hotel in a beautiful location. Extremely peaceful setting in the middle of delightful countryside within landscaped gardens. Real tranquility with the calming sound of an exquisite river to lend even more character to the setting. Extremely friendly and personal service, from the front door being opened for us when we arrived, to the car being brought to the door and the luggage placed in as we left. Not to mention the perfectly sized four year old and teenager bathrobes and slippers waiting in our room for our children on our arrival, along with chocolates, lemonade, port (not for our children;) and other refreshments. The room was also excellent. The modern and historical blended with style and character. Large and comfortable, with views over the gardens and the sound of the river outside. And then the breakfast. So relaxing and sophisticated, in a lovely dining room, with excellent service and the best (and most impressive) croissants and Eggs Royale I have ever tasted. Simply a first class and enjoyable experience. Would have wanted to stay longer. Would definitely recommend.Guest review byBilbo100Finland
- From US$237.80 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,006 reviewsCozy, historical pub hotel in the village of Chagford opposite the town church. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Lots of space in the bar with a fireplace and old features. Open and modern dining area for breakfast in the morning (included) and lunch/dinner options (not included). Breakfast buffet with cereals, juices, coffee and a delicious hot breakfast cooked to order included. My eggs were poached to perfection! The rooms were cute, older style furniture in keeping with the theme and with lots of storage space. Very comfortable bed, fresh clean sheets. No noise from the downstairs bar at all. Coffee and tea facilities. Hairdryer in room. Big bathroom with shower unit. Lovely big fluffy towels, heated towel rail.Guest review byMavisSweden

- From US$207.90 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 213 reviewsBreakfast was very good, eggs, toast and smoked kippers with strong hot coffee. The history of Oxenham Arms is amazing. So many fascinating figures have stayed here. One of our hosts, John, was full of facts and anecdotes, obviously very proud of the place! We took his advice on a hike nearby and it was one of the highlights of our UK trip.Guest review byLeslieCanada
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 100 reviewsIt was a lovely, quiet location with plenty to do. We were greeted by chloe the dog on arrival and had a brief tour of the farm. The accommodation was clean and cosy and the perfect size for a couple. The added little welcome pack (milk in the fridge and a basket of snacks) really made it. We I wouldn't hesitate to visit again :)Guest review byHarrietUnited Kingdom

Small country town with character. an excellent starting point for a holiday in Devon, Dartmoor on the doorstep and other parts of Devon not too far away. In our one overnight stay we got unsolicited help from a young lad and an older man ... a friendly place! Great meal at the Union Inn.Guest review byGeoffUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Chagford is a gorgeous friendly little place with plenty of lovely coffee shops, eateries and shops too. Lovely places to walk too. Our favourite breakfast place was the Birdcage cafe and our favourite pubs for food of an evening were the three crowns and th Ring o Bells.Guest review byTraci WhiteUnited Kingdom - 10.0
We visited Lydford specifically for the gorge.
We visited Lydford specifically for the gorge. The Whitelady waterfall was lovely but a very long steep trek for just one waterfall. The Devils Cauldren was the highlight. A shorter, but more tricky, walk. Amazing sheer sides with a roaring river in the bottom. Steps clinging to the sheer sides with just a single hand rail to hang on to. No dogs or children allowed in the more hazardous bits. I was alternately amazed and terrified.Guest review byBellUnited Kingdom - 10.0

I stayed at Hexworthy and had no car so can't really comment on surrounding attractions, but there were a variety of beautiful walks by brooks and rivers and over the moors. The walk around Venford Reservoir was lovely too.Guest review byJaneUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Ashburton is a charming little town in a beautiful setting, full of character and plenty of independent shops. From jewellery and antique stores to cake and coffee shops, there’s lots to explore. The locals were incredibly friendly, and even the local Spar and Co-op stayed open quite late, which was really convenient.Guest review bypopat - 10.0
Room was a family room, 2 bedroom very clean.
Room was a family room, 2 bedroom very clean. Make sure you drive the A road up to the property not the B road if you don’t like height’s. Bar stops serving food at 9pm so if travelling late maybe ask them to save you something or make a sandwich. Remember you are high up so the weather can be very different to what it is further down the hill.Guest review byBradford - 10.0
