FAQs about hotels on Guernsey
Enchanting Island of Unspoilt Nature
The 2nd largest Channel Island, Guernsey has a rugged coastline, unspoilt countryside and secluded beaches. Although a dependency of Britain, its proximity to Normandy’s shores means that it has a distinct French feel.
Home to the greatest number of Guernsey hotels, St Peter Port – the island’s capital – is the arrival point for ferries from England, France and the other Channel Islands. Looking back at the multi-coloured buildings across the harbour is Castle Cornet, protectively guarding the town.
Just south is beautiful Fermain Bay whose sand and pebble beach is sheltered by tree-covered cliffs. Neighbouring St Martin’s parish has a couple of Guernsey hotels with swimming pools, by the coast and inland. West is St Saviour parish where Guernsey Airport is located.
In the north the coastline is flatter and the beaches longer. Once such beach is at Cobo Bay in Castel parish, where long swathes of sand are lined by a sea wall. Vale to the east has a castle perched precariously on the cliff edge.
Booking.com has an excellent selection of guest houses and hotels in Guernsey, an island small enough to be explored in one trip. Whilst you’re travelling around, look out for the brown-and-white Guernsey cows, and the bright blue post boxes and telephone boxes.

- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 577 reviewsVery well kept, well maintained, very clean, and well managed. The room ( 8 ) was superb. Very large and spacious with two large windows on the front corner of the road ( the Grange), and yet surprisingly was very quiet. Bed linnen a crisp clean white. Tea and coffee facility overflowing with coffee portions, teas and biscuits, with two decent sized mugs. Breakfast, again white table cloths, served in a lovely dining room with a full breakfast. Nice gardens and a clean not cold pool outside. Very nice, friendly, welcoming staff. An excellent hotel at an affordable price…. I’ve stayed at many hotels here on the island and this is one of the best. First time staying here but now obviously my first choice.Guest review byalvinSwitzerland

Lovely small town and we watched a regatta and an air show, so clearly a lot goes on - we were lucky but maybe could have checked events when booking. Buses from here go everywhere and drivers couldn't be more helpful - do get advice from Bus Shop next to terminus. Lots of interesting shops BUT very steep streets and lots of steps in old town - quaint and interesting but not for those challenged with walking. Lots of great places to eat - mainly on the seafront for us due to mobility issues, but did see others from the bus. Only one bad experience at the cafe near the bus terminus. All the boat trips go from here, but early so try and stay near the seafront to avoid early starts for trips! Boats do get booked up so book early, and be prepared with plan B as weather can stop sailings - it happened to us! Trip to Little Chapel recommendedGuest review byDebbieUnited Kingdom - 8.0
It’s a great place for families who love beach holidays.
It’s a great place for families who love beach holidays. It’s also great for those interested in history with all the occupation places to visit. There are plenty of good places to eat. We when to Crabby Jacks which has a varied menu. The local kiosks are also great places for a snack. It’s easy to get around either by car or public transport which is very regular. Lots of people came with bikes.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

There were many things to see and do from museums, a castle, great food and spectacular roads. Fresh seafood was amazing. Found a great little gin distillery too. The roads are scary, very narrow and lots of road works. Don't drive there if you are not happy reversing. We struggled to get to some places due to the roadworks everywhere.Guest review byMoiraUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Very attractive small town with excellent views across the bay to Hern and Sark islands. Plenty to do around Guernsey from cliff walks, beautiful beaches, several occupation museums as well as good restaurants and pubs. Great for a short breakGuest review bySteveUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Like the quietness of the Vale, away from the town centre, tucked away at the end of the island. I love the location of the peninsula hotel facing the ocean, the sun rise is amazing in the early hours of the morning all golden really beautiful. Going to the town centre you need a bus , it runs hourly week day and 2hourly week end. Taxis are hard to come bye and expensive, book with the hotel 24rs pre. The food in the hotel is nice but a bit pricey you don't really have much choice no nearby restaurants.Guest review bybassey-williams - 10.0

Ideal for walking and exploring coastal areas, everything you need in one place. Food, drink and local services all within a short walk. Excellent reliable bus services to all areas at an affordable price, use the Guernsey bus app. 30 minute bus ride to St Peter Port, 10 minute direct taxi ride to airport.Guest review byAlan JuddUnited Kingdom - 8.0
A lovely little hotel in a pleasant location on the island.
A lovely little hotel in a pleasant location on the island. The restraunt and bar are brilliant, the staff are attentive and friendly too. The guest WiFi was good, fast and stable. My room was nice, floorboards a little creaky here and there - it's worth noting there is a spiral staircase up to the rooms which may not suit all guests. Somethings are not perfect, the TV in my room was tiny and I never actually managed to make it turn on, there was no plug for the bath - so showers only. It can get very busy there, on one evening when I returned to the hotel it was impossible to park, so I had to go and come back an hour later. The only thing I would say was bad was the traffic noise from outside - this isn't the fault of the hotel as they cannot control this; but be prepared for a mix of people using the lane as a race track late at night, and lorries/tractors early in the morning that are also noisy. (I found it hard to get to sleep before midnight, and was woken every morning before 5am due to this)Guest review byBrettUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Good location to explore island as nice and quiet but attractions nearby. Imperial hotel and Taste of India good for food. Guernsey Pearl and the Himalayan Cafe must be visited for shopping and good food. Beaches very close by - but not close enough to walk if got small people. Honesty boxes nearby for vegetables and fudge! History of WWII and the occupation of the island very interesting to explore - forts, underground hospital and other bunkers.Guest review byMaryUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Best to get hotel in town centre as access to round the island hop on/hop off bus and ferries to Sarn and Herm is on the quayside esplanade . Nice little town with a lot of small shops and restaurants. Bit disappointed that there weren’t many cafes or restaurants on the harbourside. German Occupation museum and German Naval Intelligence museum both worth a visit. Worth picking up a bus route and timetable from visitors centre as variety of routes available.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Castel is a good position for trips to any part of Guernsey, particularly the lovely sandy bays all along the North West coastline. Coastal destinations have kiosks for drinks and toilets for comfort. Cobo bay tearooms are a destination for locals and tourists alike, with traditional Guernsey fare and the most amazing home made cakes. A warm summer evening sitting on the beach with Fish and Chips from Cobo chippie, watching the sunset is paradise!Guest review byAnonymous
