The bed, pillows etc were great. The personnel were very helpful, sweet and accommodating. The room was very nice and the whole boat gave a sort of Agatha Christie-vibe (in a positive way^^). The bar served amazing drinks! The location was good too, only a few minutes from the tram station.

Location was perfect around the corner from waverly station.. room was more a city center studio loft with attention to detail that went above and beyond. (Cue beer fridge in the shower!) It even had a dishwasher in the little kitchen.. we wanted to move in! The roof terrace bar is world.class, everything is new and very modern.. but of a break from the period places which i sought out for this trip. Very very cool find, have been recommending to all who lill listen !

FAQs about hotels in Scotland

A Rugged Jewel

With round-top mountains and green hills extending in almost every direction, and stone houses dotted around, Scotland is a jewel of nature forged by ice, winds and seas over thousands of years. But Scotland is much more than beautiful landscapes: it’s the finest malt whiskies in Moray County, the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, the kilts and the bagpipes, the exciting and modern Glasgow, and much more!

The country can be divided into 3 areas. The Highlands and Islands have mountainous landscapes and numerous bodies of fresh water, including Loch Lomond and Loch Ness, as well as little cities like Inverness and numerous islands like the Isle of Skye. Don’t miss the deals on Booking.com if you’re looking for hotels in the Scottish Highlands.

The Central Lowlands are the most densely inhabited area, and with Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen located in this part of Scotland, 5-star hotels are common here.

The Southern Uplands are composed of a range of hills and valleys stretching almost 200 kilometres, home to several hotels with a spa - a relaxed option to enjoy this area.

As some of the more unusual Scotland hotels, castles can be a particularly good option to enjoy a Scotland holiday in royal style.

love Edinburgh!

love Edinburgh! the buildings, the history, the friendly people, everything about it. Definitely visit again. we loved The Dome, but had to queue to get in for drinks - next year we are going to book for a lunch or afternoon tea around Xmas time - but i've been advised to book early ! the Vaults tour was amazing too, with Mercat Tours. Definitely visit Camera Obscura, especially with kids or teenagers, but the history and views are amazing without.

Glasgow is a vibrant city with a great night life. The architechture of its buildings is magnificent and there are many historic sights of interest. There is a great range of restaurants, but do book as the night life is enjoyed by many. The hop on hop off bus is a great way to start a holiday and make good use of the time available.

I appreciate that much needed redevelopment is ongoing for Union Street but, it desperately requires rejuvenated. Union Square is an excellent facility but Union Street is the heart of the city and for tourists especially, will be one of their lasting memories, when telling friends and family of their visit.

Paid walking tour of Fort William. Highlands Museum. Great shops. Very good food, including a family run bakery. Plenty of history to discover as this area was involved in the Commando training during Second World War in the 1940’s. Local people very friendly and helpful. Cafes and pubs for food.

I didn't know Glasgow Airport was in Paisley! I was only in the airport. I went straight to Glasgow and never saw or knew I was in the vicinity of a separate town called Paisley. I'm sure it's a lovely historic town, but I've never been there. The airport was fine, as airports go. The Marriott Hotel was great, like all the other Marriott hotels.

The castle is a must-see and we appreciated the free guided tour where we learnt so much about the castle and Scottish history. The views are amazing. There are plaques on a lot of buildings to explain what they were back in the day. We met up with friends who live in Stirling and took us on a tour round the old town, pointing out all sorts of things. We saw some groups doing walking tours and would otherwise have booked one. We didn't get to the jail which looked good. We're saving that for our next visit.
