This is a complete gem of a hotel. Full of character, charm and individuality, every detail combines to draw you into the enchantment of this most enchanting of islands. The endlessly varied breakfast menu exemplified the care and flair which make Greek home cooking so special. Great location, perched between the windmills and the castle, offers easy access to both the main Chora stores and restaurants as well as the monumental castle and the bars higher up in the Chora. Popi, the studios owner and manager, is very hospitable, offers a ride to and from the ferry, a really nice breakfast, and is an excellent communicator overall providing nice tips and suggestions for newcomers

Everything was super. Pretty & Cosy studios, which are close to both Pera gialos and central square. Everyone was nice and willing to give us some tips, the owner drove us from the port to the rooms. Surprisingly we were getting every morning breakfast, such as traditional pies & handmade cake, which was so kind. Aphrodite Studios provides all the utilities, if you'd like to cook. There's also an espresso machine. Everything was super clean, mattresses were comfortable. The balcony is facing pera gialos, and you have a great view on the sea/sun landscape. . We were so happy for taking our breakfast on this Terrasse and being hosted by those lovely people :) Thank you so much for everything 🙏

We loved everything about Hotel Castillio. The staff are all so friendly and will go out of their way to help you. The rooms are cleaned daily and towels and bath robes and bedding are changed almost everyday. The location is on the entrance to Maltezena so travelling by Astibus is very easy. We had the room with the jacuzzi/pool and it didn't disappoint. All the local Tavernas are within walking distance and the food was very good in all. If you like cats you are in for a treat.

The room was clean, tidy, nicely-decorated and comfortable with all kitchen amenities. The hostess, Mrs. Froso, was very kind and hospitable. The room offered no breakfast but some fresh juice, milk, coffee and other products were available that was perfect for a light morning snack! Mrs Froso also facilitated our late departure from the room which allowed us to enjoy our last day in the island. The room was cleaned daily and we also got fresh towels. Not many studios in Greece offer all these services and hospitality! The room has a nice little patio but the inner yard of the property may get a bit noisy. Still though with the windows shut, the room is very quiet and cool. The room is in a village called Livadi very close to Chora and just right next to the beach! The restaurant next to the rooms is excellent too with delicious Greek and local food/products and very friendly staff.

When traveling we usually spend one part of it for exploring and visiting as many places as we can. The other part we like to spend more time in the hotel and just relax, so we look for properties that can accomodate this. And this place had it all - we just couldn't get enough of the pool, the garden, the upper patio. Add to this the great and rich breakfast, quiet surrounding and great people running the place and we could easily stay there for a week. There are several good restauranst and groceries around and also bus/asty-move stop. We had a great time and would visit again this hotel and the island of Astypalea.

The apartment was in a perfect position for us. Whilst it is out of town, there are tavernas and a supermarket very close. Just below the apartment is a great cove with pebble beach. Inside the apartment is very comfortable and the owners make you very welcome, leaving a sweet treat each day. We couldn't have asked for anything more. Highly recommended.

What a beautiful escape!! Kalderimi Residencies is perfectly located, a few minutes walk, close to Chora & Livadi beach. The apartment spotlessly clean and very tasteful with an exceptional view over the bay. The breakfast just absolutely delicious! The whole team is an example of Greek hospitality. Astypalaia town, or Chora, is a true gem of the Aegean.

Astypalaia town, or Chora, is a true gem of the Aegean. Perched on a hillside, it offers stunning panoramic views of the sparkling sea, the picturesque harbor, and the majestic Venetian castle that crowns the town. The town’s white-washed houses, narrow streets, and vibrant bougainvillea create a magical, traditional Greek island atmosphere that is both peaceful and captivating. Visitors will find the iconic windmills just a short walk from the town center, and there’s a wonderful selection of tavernas, cafés, and shops to explore, where you can enjoy authentic local cuisine and hospitality. Whether you're looking to relax and soak up the island's natural beauty, wander the charming streets, or delve into its rich history, Astypalaia town has something for everyone. It’s the perfect blend of culture, relaxation, and scenic beauty, making it an unforgettable destination for all who visit.

The town is built on a very steep hillside, with most of the restaurants and bars at the top. In the summer there is a bus that runs from the beach to the top. If you come by ferry, check the sailing times, as most are middle of the night and the main port is not at Pera Gyalos. The roads leave a lot to be desired.

Analipsi is a gorgeous village in Astypalea.

Analipsi is a gorgeous village in Astypalea. If you are looking for a relaxed and peaceful stay, a gorgeous clean beach, low key cafes and restaurants (lots of fish dishes and seafood) it is THE perfect place to go. No noisy bikes / scooters. Perfect for couples (not much for children) wanting a stress free break. Car hire would be beneficial to get to the Chora (a 15 minute drive) and enjoy the excellent views, and sample the lovely food. But it is possible to do without a car, using the bus or the "Astybus" which will pick you up on request.

Another cute Greek island.

Another cute Greek island. I have been to 15+ Greek islands over 50 times in total. It is similar to many other Greek islands. Small, cute. The castle and the old town looks really lovely. We went in mid-August. Although the island had probably around 5000 visitors, because there are few restaurants and options, all places were packed. Most of my Greek friends consider Astypalaia as the best Greek island, however in my view it's fine, cute, but I wouldn't say it's more beautiful than many other Greek islands.
