It’s a wonderful place to visit, and about 3 to 4 days are...
It’s a wonderful place to visit, and about 3 to 4 days are usually enough to cover most of the highlights. We tried the hop-on hop-off bus tour, but it took the entire day and felt quite slow because of heavy traffic, so I’d recommend staying near the city center instead—you can easily walk around and explore on foot. A half-day trip to the Temple of Poseidon is worth it, especially for the stunning sunset views. Don’t miss the Acropolis, and definitely consider joining a walking food tour to experience the local flavors. Overall, it has been a great experience so far. Be prepared for lots of walking on uneven pavements and stone roads, so bring a good pair of sneakers. If time allows, I highly recommend visiting Santorini—stay at least two nights and take the 8-hour bus tour, which also includes a wine-tasting experience. I traveled with my daughter & grandson from the US to London for a couple of days, then flew to Athens for a cruise leaving the next day. We made our way out of Athens to stay at the cruise port. We were exhausted but our time at the Seaside Hotel was a wonderful reprieve. It was charming, everyone so friendly and accommodating. A home made with love We only stayed for one night, but we felt comfortable and fresh, like at home. The hostess carefully described how to enter the house and waited for us to confirm that everything was okay despite the late hour. The terrace offers an incredible view of the sea, there is a separate dining area and a sofa under the stars. The rooms are spacious and artistic. There is an unobtrusive elegant artistic accent everywhere - beautifully paintings on the walls or an element on the terrace, truly impressive art. The rooms are spacious and with a view, all have air conditioning. We had choice to go to one of three closest islands near Athens. Aegina is big and the closest to Athens so quite crowded on weekends where Athenians escape from the heat. Hydra is quite beautiful but a bit expensive, no sandy beaches near center and no transport on island except of horses and donkeys (it is charming, though, worth to visit for one day). So the last choice was Poros, with moderate prices, nice beaches, even free municipal bus, and 5 minutes boat ride to the mainland village of Galatas, which also has great restaurants to enjoy authentic Greek cuisine.Guest review byKA111ERGeorgia - 10.0

A perfect little place for a relaxing beach holiday. Easy to get there with a ferry from Athens in 30 minutes. The little port is close to everything. There are different types of beaches to choose from. Our favourite restaurant was Kaliva.
