FAQs about hotels in Amalfi Coast
A Feast For the Eyes
Comprised of brightly coloured villages cascading down sheer cliffs, the Amalfi Coast is on the opposite side of a peninsula from Sorrento. Between the UNESCO World Heritage-listed villages are lemon groves and winding roads hugging the coastline that are definitely not for the nervous driver!
In wonderful Positano, delicately positioned houses somehow manage to cling to the cliffs. The next village along is Praiano, on a flatter piece of land and with a 12th-century church. Furore in the hills above a fjord has its own winery.
Amalfi itself is picturesque, as it rises from the harbour to the top of its 13th-century cathedral. As the coast’s largest town, it has a good selection of bars, restaurants and accommodation. Adjoining it is Atrani, a fishing village with a dramatic, beachside road supported by arches.
High above is Ravello whose Villa Rufolo’s landscaped gardens offer magnificent panoramas of the coastline below. Due to its position, this town boasts the Amalfi Coast hotels with the best views and, of course, prices to match. Back at sea level Minori and Maiori have the longest beaches.
Due of all this splendor, you might struggle to find cheap Amalfi Coast hotels, but there is also a selection of affordable apartments and B&Bs on Booking.com, and in any case the fantastic views makes the price well worth it.

- From US$424.40 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 574 reviewsThis is a wonderful hotel at a great location but the beach really is indescribable - it is so wonderful to have a private beach (and free parking!) at the hotel that can be accessed via elevator, while the cliffs and stairs obviously make the charm of the Amalfi coast, travelling it 35* degree heat or with 60-70 year old family members, it was truly wonderful to have this easy - it really felt like a holiday. The main waitor is also super friendly and the reception staff organized a private hairdresser for my dad to get a haircut in our room!Guest review byElisabeth F.Austria
- From US$635.65 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 281 reviewsThe hotel is absolutely fabulous. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The view from our room was simply breathtaking — it honestly felt unreal. The hotel’s décor is charming and beautifully thought out, adding to the whole experience. We had an amazing stay! The staff went above and beyond to help us with our suitcases and anything we needed, always with a smile. There are also great spots nearby to eat and have a drink, making the location even more special.Guest review byÉricaBrazil

The staff is smiling and friendly! We were greeted by Carmelo, a typical Italian, as if he had stepped out of a romantic movie (if you have seen the movie with Robert Downey Jr. Only You), who with a smile invites you into this gorgeous atmosphere! I highly recommend this hotel, where you will feel at home and at the same time like a scene from a movie❤️Guest review byMKalkosBulgaria
- From US$312.30 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.7Good - What previous guests thought, 1,268 reviewsThe hotel is located exactly at the entrance of the city of Salerno. Our room was very large and very nicely renovated. We were told that the rooms facing the port have been renovated and the rooms facing the sea have not been fully renovated. We chose the renovated room and it was very nice. Of course, the view of the rooms that have a direct view of the sea is definitely better.Guest review byBahaminIran

The steps everywhere were a challenge.
The steps everywhere were a challenge. The biggest disappointment was the huge amount of tourists. It was like visiting a festival or Disneyland. There were a couple restaurants that were quite good. My adult daughter enjoyed her hikes; one in Amalfi behind cemetery & other in Altara(?). I'm sure it's easy to get around without the maddening crowd; but it was a turnoff upon arrival to face this, so unexpected. I was there to try and find some information on descendants, but man in office wouldn't help me, kept saying "no capice," and shooed me out of there.Guest review byPLW - 6.0

Beautiful place with unreal views. Paths of Gods is a must. Rent a Vespa to maximise your experience and visiting nearby towns. Be prepared to be completely ripped off for everything, food, drink is ridiculously expensive.Guest review byRoss - 10.0
We loved where we stayed.
We loved where we stayed. Last year, we visited the Amalfi Coast which was beautiful. This year we went to Capri, which was amazing. The local shops were great and the people are very friendly and helpful. We ate locally or cooked and had a few favourite spots. It was easy to walk around where we stayed, for longer trips we had the rental car. We could ask our host for directions and tips on where to visit.Guest review byCarmelIreland - 10.0

We think Vietri is the best place to stay on the Amalfi coast. It is easy to reach (most other towns are a pain to drive to), and is a great place to explore from, with Pompeii only 25 mins drive and Herculaneum around 35 minutes, all motorway. The town itself is very authentic and prices are reasonable compared to the better known places. The boat service to other Amalfi towns is regular and easy to use without being too expensive (€25 return to Amalfi for 2 people) - we enjoyed the boat trips as much as the towns which were generally heaving with tourists, I’d hate to think what high season is likeGuest review byRobertUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Amazing city with very nice restaurants and great ferry connection. It was a very good decision for us to stay in a smaller city, because Maiori has a fantastic beach, it was not that busy, but we still had access to all the bigger cities on the coast.Guest review byBettinaNorway - 8.0

Driving is highly not recommended, roads are very, very narrow with a lot of turns, very nerve wrecking. The area is beautiful and worth visiting over and over. Great scenery, great food. Just don’t drive.Guest review byFareedSaudi Arabia - 10.0

We enjoyed Praiano immensely and would make that our home base if we were ever to come back. We found a few very nice restaurants with lovely staff and delicious food. Went down the 400 hundred steps to the lovely beach with aqua blue water. Getting around is a bit of a challenge with all the steps. We enjoyed the challenge. It was also nice to get away from the tourists. Prison is much quieter.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Furore is around 15km from amalfi, sounds close but in reality due to the winding roads it takes around 25 minutes in a car/bus Furore is quite spread out so you need to take that in to account when staying there. Car/moped is the best method of transport followed by the bus, walking is an option but be prepared for many steep hills. This is a perfect base to get into amalfi, but be aware that parking in amalfi itself is challenging and the police/car towing companies are red hot!Guest review byMARKUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Peaceful and quiet—perfect for a relaxing vacation.
Peaceful and quiet—perfect for a relaxing vacation. There are plenty of good restaurants and enough markets for everyday needs. The area also offers great historical sites to explore, along with the beautiful Valle delle Ferriere nature park nearby. A convenient bus stop with frequent service makes it easy to get around the area without a car.Guest review byNemanjaSerbia
