The city was beautifully clean and I found the people extremely friendly and welcoming. The city is quite spread out but the metro is extremely efficient and easy to understand.. Announcements in English as well which is a bonus. I have been to Venice 3 times and my wife and family still want to go back Pace of life there is lovely, interesting to see how the city works with boats moving bedding and supplies in the early morning around the city. So many nice places to eat, too many to mention. Very easy and quick to walk around. Well worth the cost of going up the Camponile tower to get overhead view of the whole city, Grand Canal is fab, Rialto bridge is a lovely place to eat and watch the world go by. Doge's palace, St Peter's Basilica also good. 2 x classical concerts in Chiesa di San Vidal listening to Vivaldi were stand outs over a couple of trips. Booked through Clasictic.com. Nice compact city you can get around most sites in about 30 minutes walking from side to side. Bus tour was good, we used it to get to our property as well to drop off luggage. Could easily spend a few days to maximise the city, we only had a day because we were flying back to UK the following day. Airport very good, like a small provincial airport of the past in the UK. Will definitely visit Verona again. Arena great, Romeo and Juliet balcony. Nice market on the Saturday. We ate at Trattoria la Pigna (booked last minute through TheFork having found on Google) which was fantastic food and lovely helpful staff, nothing too much trouble. Pleasant city to walk around.
Pleasant city to walk around. Elegant architecture and good shops if you like that; Egyptian Museum certainly large scale; Lingotto district (old Fiat factory) interesting and quieter. Went on the tourist tram up to Via Stradicana / Napoleonica. Get off at Obelisk stop not end at Opicina. Tram is a little hairy especially just after the start when they add a second engine; also crowded. There is also the 64 bus right nearby if you think might be queasy. Central Trieste has been thoroughly refurbished during Covid and looks like a set from Studio Ghibli. The old town is buzzing with bars and restaurants. A beautiful place with numerous restaurants and cafés :) Also ideal as a base for exploring other towns on Lake Garda.
