Built in 474 BC, Aragonese Castle which is perched on natural volcanic rock, is the most impressive historical monument on Ischia Island, and is a modern day reminder of the islands past. Another wonder of island is the Gardens of La Mortella. Filled with tropical and Mediterranean plants, these picture-perfect gardens offer some of the best views over the region and Forio Harbour.
Other attractions on Ischia Island are beaches such as Maronti Beach and Citara Beach. There is also the Angelo Rizzoli Museum, which is a museum of the famous Italian publisher and film producer Angelo Rizzoli, along with the mushroom rock (known to locals as the Fungo) located just off the port of Lacco Ameno.
