FAQs about hotels in Cinque Terre
Cliff-Hugging Beauty
One of Liguria’s most beautiful areas, the Cinque Terre are 5 UNESCO World Heritage-listed villages dramatically positioned on the Mediterranean coastline.
Each has a train station, but the most exhilarating way to visit the Cinque Terre is on foot. It’s not easy at times, but is definitely rewarding. The route starts (or finishes) at Riomaggiore, the southern-most village, home to a range of accommodation including a few Cinque Terre hotels on the beach.
The easy road between here and Manarola is called the Via dell’Amore, or Lovers’ Lane. Colourful Manarola houses hug the rocky cliffs overlooking the turquoise water below. The next village along is Corniglia, the only one not by the beach, but which offers panoramic views from its hilltop position.
Next is Vernazza, arguably the most picturesque of the 5, spread over a narrow promontory jutting into the sea and with a castle tower at its tip. Still very much a fishing village, it is centred around its small harbour and beach.
The longest beach is at Monterosso al Mare, the last town on the trail. Due to its location and easy access, it is home to what are possibly the best Cinque Terre hotels for families on Booking.com. However, whichever village you choose to stay in, you can expect wonderful views and fantastic food.

- From US$234.54 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,641 reviewsThis wonderful, cozy hotel completely won me over from the very first moment! We had a room with a breathtaking sea view — pure magic. You fall asleep and wake up to the gentle whisper of the waves, and in the evening, you enjoy a mesmerizing sunset with a glass of the local wine — which is incredibly delicious! On your own balcony, in this little personal paradise, you need nothing else to feel complete happiness. The hotel is located on a quiet pedestrian street, where after 11 PM a peaceful silence settles — no car noise, just calm and relaxation. Parking is just a minute’s walk away, very convenient! It’s right on the first line — just a few steps and you’re already on the beach. A huge plus is that the hotel has its own private beach (35 euros for two loungers and an umbrella for the whole day), where no other tourists are allowed, so there’s always plenty of space — especially important during the busy season when public beaches are packed. I loved absolutely everything! The great location, friendly and attentive staff, the room without unnecessary frills but with all the essentials for a comfortable stay. Breakfast was a delight: fresh eggs, cheeses, cold cuts, fragrant croissants, and what stood out was the incredibly tasty potato pie! Monterosso al Mare is an intimate, charming place where you can truly unwind and recharge. I highly recommend staying here for 3 to 4 days to fully experience its atmosphere and tranquility. A huge thank you to the hotel for an unforgettable stay! We will definitely come back here at the first opportunity!Guest review byAnnaItaly
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 92 reviewsExcellent property, very close to the beach as well as the Monterosso train station. Checking-in was a breeze as the keys were ready for us before we arrived. We were also able to get an early check-in by about an hour. Monterosso is also fairly flat meaning it was an easy walk to the property even with luggage. The room is beautiful and cute with a small garden attached. We had our own entryway so it had good privacy. The room is slightly bigger than a queen bed, fits a queen bed nicely and has a table and chairs set. Very well appointed room. The garden also had an outdoor seating area, and we had our breakfast there (our own food). Highly recommend this property as it's good and at a good location.Guest review bycest_la_vieUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 73 reviewsWe just stayed at this beautiful hotel with my family and had the most wonderful experience. The hotel itself is stunning, with breathtaking views from absolutely everywhere — our room, the restaurant, the breakfast area, and even the pool all offered incredible panoramas that made the stay unforgettable. The staff was amazing — truly one of the highlights of our stay, specially the Venezuelan brothers — they were very kind, helpful, and welcoming. The breakfast was delicious and well-prepared, with plenty of options to choose from, and we also enjoyed a lovely dinner at the restaurant.Guest review byBelenSpain
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.0Very good - What previous guests thought, 254 reviewsThe breakfast was amaizing, the staff even did our laundry for free and gave us ice cream from the bar/shop. Staff was really nice and extra accomodating. Hard to get to from the train station on foot if you miss the bus. Runs rarely, so we’d sometimes have to walk back up the mountain for an hour to get to the hotel but the scenery was beautiful so we didnt mind.Guest review byViktorijaFinland

Quaint village in a series of 5 well connected villages.
Quaint village in a series of 5 well connected villages. Easy access by train. Amazing walks betwen villages. Warm sea to swim in. Food became a bit one dimensional. Pizza and pasta. If you don’t eat pork and shell fish then you eat a mountain of carbohydrates. We longed for something fresh. Overall a fantastic place steeped in history and Italian culture. Well worth a visit. Oh, one other thing. Don’t miss out on Levante. Take a train there. It’s greatGuest review byRoySouth Africa - 10.0

The best on the Cinque Terre villages in our opinion.
The best on the Cinque Terre villages in our opinion. Plenty of restaurants to choose from or takeways to sit in the harbour and eat plus bars. No cover charges like the other resorts we visited. Great atmosphere. The Cinque Terre is overpriced in general not just for food/drink but also the tourist tax/ train tickets/ walking trails etc. but as long as you know this it is a lovely place so you need to tick the area off your listGuest review byCaroline - 8.0
We stayed in Corniglia as it was the middle village of the 5...
We stayed in Corniglia as it was the middle village of the 5. This enabled us to walk to one or two villages in either direction and then return by train. Unfortunately, Corniglia is the only one of the 5 not to have a landing for the boats that travel up and down the coast. The train fare is the same irrespective of the distance travelled. All the villages are exceedingly difficult to access by car with twisty narrow roads and the need to park outside the village and walk in having paid Euros 20 to park for the day if you were able to find a space. So if travelling by car, a dedicated parking space near your accommodation is a must.Guest review byPeterUnited Kingdom - 8.0

3 nights was enough to see Manarola a lot. We swam, had dinner nightly, met the locals in the wine bar just above the church and visited 2 other towns. Our hotel room was at the very top of the town, and then up 3 flights of stairs. It was a very steep hill. Be sure you know where your hotel is, it's a very vertical town.Guest review byBretUnited States - 10.0
