FAQs about hotels in Sardinia
Jewel of the Mediterranean
This fabulous Italian island is an exclusive holiday destination, so of all the Sardinia hotels 5 star properties make up a good proportion. Several are on the wonderful Emerald Coast, known for its stunning scenery. Because of the fantastic beaches and coves, this area (Costa Smeralda in Italian) houses some of the best Sardinia hotels for families.
Amazing Emerald Coast resorts include Porto Rotondo, Porto Cervo with its exclusive harbour, and Baia Sardinia. Palau overlooks the La Maddalena archipelago, a national park comprising peaceful islands. There are also several Sardinia hotels on the beach in Pula, a resort popular with locals.
Sardinia also has lots of history to explore. Close to Pula is Nora, where there are remains of a Roman town. Other Roman ruins are found in a dramatic setting at Tharros, near Oristano.
However, it’s the nuraghe - prehistoric megaliths - that are typically Sardinian. Found all over the island, these stone structures are incredibly well preserved. The most famous is Su Nuraxi in Barumini and there are several near Alghero, a walled city with narrow streets and a sandy beach. The prehistoric settlement at Tiscali in the Gennargentu mountains is most easily accessed from Dorgali.
Booking.com also has hotels in Cagliari, the island’s capital. Bastione San Remy offers panoramic city views towards fabulous Poetto beach beyond.

- From US$184.37 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.3Good - What previous guests thought, 741 reviewsThis is a huge territory with a lot of things to do without even leaving the property. Parking, 8 swimming pools, 6 beaches: stony and sandy. Area with animals: donkeys, horses, wild pigs, different birds and many more. It’s a place where people come with their kids and enjoy the services offered. They have animation and excursions for kids, it’s nice. Also Nice beans coffee station at the breakfast. WiFi only by the pool, reception or bars. This is positive I think, on vacation, we shouldn’t be hanging in our phones :) For us it was just me and my boyfriend. We rented a car, so reaching out to the hotel and then to eat in Tortolì (closest) city wasn’t hard. Also we did everything by walk within the hotel, everything is quite reachable. Also special thanks to Daniele and Simone, these guys were amazing with helping us with luggage, small rides within hotels. They are very kind and professional, we didn’t even have cash to give, the simply like what they do and very nice with guests.Guest review byGuzalGermany
- From US$229.41 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.4Good - What previous guests thought, 549 reviewsWe had the most amazing week in Arbatax Resort - The Dune, it was the first stop on our honeymoon and we loved every second of it. The service we got is the best I've had out of all hotels/resorts I've ever been to, they booked everything what we wanted to do for us, boat tours, renting a boat for a day, spa, massage etc. Kayaks and paddle boards are free to use. Staff was super kind and helpful and we have mention Barbara in that sentence, she was definitely the person who made our stay extra awesome! Thank you so much!Guest review byÞórir HelgiIceland

The old town is great and if possible stay within the old town. There are many excursions from the port. There is better value to be found in some of the smaller restaurants and bars away from the main square.Guest review bywilliamIreland - 10.0

Picturesque city with a nice vibe close to the beach of Poetto and the amazing beaches around Villasimius. Mid september it didn’t feel overly touristy and no issues booking tables at the more popular restaurants. The Marina area is packed with restaurants and walking distance to Quartieri Castello and Bonaria. Recommend checking out the area towards Bonaria since it’s less touristy and has amazing coffee shops, plus parking outside the ZTL zone. Best pasta restaurants in the Marina area were Impasto and Sa Domu Sarda. Cagliari itself can be enjoyed during three full days, the interesting areas are quite small. Combined with days at the beach a full week is recommended. Prego!Guest review byAlexanderSweden - 10.0

Its a great place to stay to discover the area (east side of the island), its right in the middle to visit La Magdalena and Oroseo Gulf. There is plenty of restaurants and things to do/visit. The beaches around the city were great as well (pitulongu, port istana). There are not a lot of parking places around so you might need to drive for a while and "fight" for a spot.Guest review byLucasSpain - 8.0

Lovely little town, perfect size to easily walk around. Plenty of restaurants and bars. The night market is a nice to stroll through in the evening. La Cinta beach is lovely, can get busy and toilet/shower facilities are a bit ropy. There is lots of different types of accommodation too, to suit all needs.Guest review byRorySweden - 10.0

We have stayed in other very nice resorts and hotels with robust amenities throughout Sardinia and this was easily our favorite one. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly and went out of their way to assist us. In addition to the hotel, we loved touring around Capo Testa and spent a lot of time in Santa Teresa which is a very charming town near the hotel. Next time we will spend more time at the beaches since an injury prevented us from navigating the rocky beach.Guest review byDavidUnited States - 6.0

Friendly locals and beautiful long beaches, great even for kids — plenty of space despite rows of sunbeds. Poor beachside services: toilets and showers open only from the second week of June. This year, unfortunately, tons of seagrass have washed up, which might cause issues for sensitive individuals.Guest review byDavidCzech Republic - 10.0
The best place in Sardinia.
The best place in Sardinia. Cute Italian town with picturesque houses, great restaurants and the best gelato. We loved going from beach to beach, they all possess different qualities, but they are all lovely with the bluest water I’ve seen. You definitely need a car or a Vespa to get the best experience. Taking a boat trip for a day is also a must! Would strongly recommend spending a few days in La Maddalena!Guest review byTameshaNorway - 10.0

Castelsardo itself is an interesting small city with its castle and round streets. Hikers and people doing "steps" should love hundreds of steers and narrow uphill streets, especially in the rather well preserved tower area. And, it hides so good seafood restaurants with spectacular views. I thought I had it all already, yet we were seriously surprised of the food and service quality. Sure, tripadvisor points tell the story. Yet in some cities you could find pizza kiosks also with ratings like 4.8, so watch out. Trekking and hiking roads are also near by. Beware of review dates. Some are full of bushes, still not cleaned, so it took us 3 tryouts to find a decent track. Most of these tracks are unmarked. Would be hard to find these if you have experienced German way of marking tracks.Guest review byMikk OrglaanEstonia - 10.0

Absolutely loved Orosei- such a beautiful town with plenty of bars and restaurants. Lots of locals around so didn’t feel overly touristy. Within half an hour of loads of stunning beaches but Orosei beach itself is pretty good anyway. Great base for exploring the local area. We would highly recommend Pizzeria Orion for amazing pizzas!Guest review byKateUnited Kingdom
