The hotel had recently been renovated it was absolutely spotless it was perfectly positioned for our travel needs. Baldomero and his wife the owners was brilliant nothing was too much trouble we ate in the restaurant at night and the food was superb there was a very good selection for breakfast including scrambled eggs the coffee was very good I would highly recommend this hotel also lastly the WiFi was excellent 👍

Lugano is wonderful and a total paradise for cyclists! I come here all the time, I could not recommend more. Amazing routes around Lago di Lugano, Maggiore, Como… Delicious bakeries for tasty treats and refuelling whether Alpe di Neggia and Luino side or Menaggio Como side! Superb hotels and restaurants in Lugano to enjoy post-ride, also lovely chic (not sports) shopping! Absolutely recommend, but definitely prioritise Lugano Centro and lakeside, more expensive but so so worth it (Paradiso or inland horrible)

The lake and the wonderful atmosphere in the old town.

The lake and the wonderful atmosphere in the old town. We didn’t spend long enough to properly explore more of the area but being able to step out of the hotel early morning and be surrounded by with so much natural beauty was uplifting vto say the least. We walked to the Madonna del Sasso and saw lLocarno and the lake from above. Would love to come back in summer to explore many hiking trails in the area. The unexpected start of Winterland was an added bonus.

Saturday market - make sure you get there latest 11-ish as they seem to pack up around 15:00-16:00 (winter time) Cafe Ofele a great place for coffee and cake and chilling on the cool swing chairs. Losone is the underrated, non-touristy part of Ascona and...

Losone is the underrated, non-touristy part of Ascona and Locarno. It is, therefore, where many residents live because it is quiet, with great access to the Maggia river. The best tip is to walk along the river. It is very well connected by bus, so if you want an area that is safe but above all affordable, then this is the area to stay. Ascona is expensive for what is literally a 5 minute bus ride away. From Losone you can equally head to Locarno as well as Ascona, or indeed go into one of the many valleys.

Correct the hotel location in booking to not show that it is 150 from the center while searching in Lugano area. The hotel location is at the top of the mountain, it tooks more the 25 minutes to reach the hotel up or to go down to the city… nothin around the hotel, no centro, no restaurant… the hotel is in the middle of nowhere

Lugano is a nice little town with all facilities and transportation points near at hand. Monte Bre and Monte San Salvatore are excellent points to visit with breathtaking panoramic views. We also did a day trip to Morcote which was also very nice specially Scherrer's Park. Back in Lugano, Parco Ciani and Piazza Riforma are excellent places to hang around and have meals. We had some excellent Ticinese food at La Tinera which is not to be missed if one wants to sample the regional cuisine.

I think Locarno is going to be one of the new tourist...

I think Locarno is going to be one of the new tourist hotspots in the next decade. This spot is beautiful. Amazing lakeside retreat on the alps - the views are not comparable to anything I have ever seen. I loved that it was less crowded than most lakeside European cities I have been to - and think this is a great stop if you are in the Como/Milan area. 10/10 recommend for some relaxation, rejuvenation, and a vacation you won't forget.
