Transport links, especially the trains were cheap and easy to find and allowed easy travel to Salerno, Sorrento and Herculaneum. Pompeii archeological site was only a 10 minute walk from our B&B and was a great experience. The train to Salerno was only €2.50 and a short walk took you to the harbour where we took a boat trip to Amalfi, Positano and Sorrento. The train back to pompei was busy but only took half an hour and again was around €2.50. Unforgettable experienceGuest review byMarkUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Nice area to walk around although many restaurants close in the afternoon and then open after 7pm. Some were closed for the summer season. There was some litter on the streets. People were very friendly and helpful.Guest review byDhinsUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Smallish town with magnificent church.
Smallish town with magnificent church. Lots of services available and in a strategically convenient location between Sorrento and Napoli. Long pedestrian only area. Fresh, very fresh food, OYSTERS, cheerful residents.Guest review byMargaret De GregorioCanada - 10.0
The town is very nice with a wonderful beach.
The town is very nice with a wonderful beach. I read reviews like the beach and sea water are dirty but that's not true at all. The means of transport are trains that depart from 2 train stations: Oplonti and Central. The food is different at affordable prices.Guest review byGabrielaRomania - 8.0

It was close to a train line and it was easy to get to Naples. Also the location was good as it was in the middle and we could go to Naples and to Amalfi coast, Pompeii from here with little problem. The traffic in Naples is chaos so it was good that we could get there by train and then use the metro from there.Guest review byIgorSlovenia - 8.0
This area was quite calm in comparison to Pompeii or Naples.
This area was quite calm in comparison to Pompeii or Naples. A big advantage are the views of the sea and the surrounding towns, and you can also see Mount Vesuvius. The roads were broken in places and very dirty full of rubbish, which is typical of all the nearby towns. For traveling with a smaller car it is OK, with a bigger car I would be afraid of the narrows and wild traffic.Guest review byAlesCzech Republic - 8.0

The hotel is an Italian villa built in 1711, with a lot of Baroque decoration in the building and surrounding park. Our room (a junior suite) was large, with a small balcony and separated bathroom/toilet. We even had a jacuzzi bath, functioning. The fittings however were oldish and the provided amenities did not live up to a 5 star hotel standard. Breakfast was decent but monotonous, again not living up to a 5 star hotel standard. The hotel is a venue for social events (marriages, birthdays etc) involving a high level of noise, loud music and fireworks most of the nights (in our case 8 out of the 9 nights we spent there) up to well past 11 pm and sometimes later. Take this in consideration if you like to come to an oasis of calm and serenity after a long day in the Italian heat. You'll not find it in this hotel. Parking is available and free even if crowded at evenings with the vehicles of the guests to one of the events. The pool is nice looking but I never saw one person using it and there always was an underwater cleaning robot doing its thing in the morning. It seems the pool is more of a decorative item than a usable guest amenity. All things considered our stay at the hotel was pleasant, the evening noise bearable with the help of ear plugs and the TV allowed me to connect an Amazon FireTV stick and enjoy my favourite entertainment without being restricted to Italian TV programs.Guest review byAdrianBelgium - 10.0
Great place for trips around.
Great place for trips around. Great transport accessibility by train to Naples, Pompeii, Herculaneum. It is a clean city according to local customs. There are many shops and services available. The location is very well accessible from the airport (by car 15 minutes, if there is no rush hour).Guest review byPavelCzech Republic - 10.0

Based on the hot weather, plan on a whole day or two (depending on your pace) to see the archeological site. The city itself is busy, but the residents were nice. Most people we spoke with knew English.Guest review byRichard
