IrelandThis was an amazing experience, I honestly don’t know why everyone isn’t staying here. You get to be onsite overnight, in this beautiful and tranquil setting, and have access to the Jordan River, and watch the stars. I have never slept so well or so deeply. And we even had the resident cat, Ginger, giving us the grand tour, and come to get us for breakfast the next morning 😄
The manager was very kind, and arranged for a priest in the Catholic church next door to give us a tour of the baptism site the next day (we are catholic). This was amazing, and we got a full explanation of each part of the site, and we got to spend time at each part of the baptism site. (Usually, to visit during the day, tours are only 30mins to only the main baptism part).
Irena cooked us the best vegetarian dinner, and then an excellent breakfast the next morning, and was so kind. There is also tea, coffee and as many biscuits as you can eat provided!
I can’t recommend highly enough!!

While the room is quite simple and there are a few mosquitos, the cultural experience you will have here will by far make you forget any little discomforts you may have! Abdullah was an outstanding host, so generous with his time and his heart! It is truly a unique experience to stay with this family and I can only assume that each stay would be a little different, but equally as rewarding based on what is going on at that time. All the food and tea/coffee that is provided is mind-boggling and so, so delicious! I cannot recommend staying here enough, especially if you are even remotely interested in gaining insight into true Jordan and its people!

GermanyWe had a wonderful stay. The apartment was big and very well equipped. We loved the balcony with the beautiful view of the pool area and the sea. Geries, the lovely owner explained us everything on arrival and asked even the following days if everything is fine or if we need something. I so wish we had booked to stay for 2 nights instead of 1.
This guesthouse is in a restricted area, due to its proximity to the Palestine border. On arrival, go to the Visitor Centre and speak to the Police. They will issue you with a pass that enables you to pass the checkpoint and drive down to the guest house. Due to border patrols, you are not allowed to access the River Jordan at night.
There is ample parking and, currently, the whole area is very quiet. (However, the Catholics are building on the adjacent plot, so this might increase the number of tourists.) There were only half a dozen other people staying when we were there, so we almost had the residence to ourselves. Our room has comfortable twin beds and was utterly quiet.
We hadn't realised how far the guest house was from the nearest town and how difficult it was to access the site, so we didn't know where to get dinner. The cooks prepared food for the staff and they kindly provided extra, so that we were able to eat.
The absolute highlight for me was sitting on the terrace, watching the sun set over Palestine. It really was rather special and I didn't want to go in to bed.

The apartment is very spacious, close to the Dead Sea, with private swimming pool. It is a quiet place, which we liked and prefer. Geries is very nice host, willing to help with anything. We were welcomed with fridge full of food and drinks in the accommodation, which was amazing and I really appreciate it.

People are saying the hotel is in disrepair and needs modernizing - it’s rustic!! There might be a few improvements needed, but it’s a rustic style, which I loved, and I think other reviewers missed!!

The staff are very nice, but why are there no women working there?
Overall we would recommend Mujib Chalets.

From the moment i arrived until i left i felt at home, everyone was kind, the owner his son and all his family. We had dinner together and I had the pleasure of spending a wonderful evening with all the relatives around a fire drinking tea. Safi Kitchen offers a variety of tours in the surrounding canyons and historical tours around the area. Excellent food, spacious apartment equipped with all comforts, internal parking. Best for experiencing the Dead Sea at a leisurely pace. One should only select the locations having direct access to the dead sea. We stayed at the Samarah resort so didn't actually go into the city, and didn't feel the need to. The facilities here may not be as good as found in other parts of Jordan. It all depends on the hotel/ staying accommodation selected.
We also didn't explore the other tourist sites near Sowayma - if you feel the need to, then plan to stay for at least 3 nights.

I like the location and the staff at the bar. They were friendly and polite.
In my opinion this hotel should be 3 star. The breakfast had very limited choice of food; cleanliness much to be desire, staff didn't speak English (or barely speak) with bar staff be the exception.
However my worse experience was with the lady that was security guard at the entrance to the hotel.
I felt she was getting great pleasure in checking my grocery shopping!! Twice!!she was rude and und unpleasant . This was my third visit to Sowayma (different hotels) but never I felt so unwelcome
