- From US$143.35 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 248 reviewsThe Hotel Kanronomori has everything one needs. The hotel staff is very attentive and professional. We particularly want to compliment T Ayana, who kindly assisted us with numerous arrangements and calls until we were completely satisfied. The hotel provides ski rental and ski lessons. Thanks also to Leo for making our ski lessons so enjoyable! There is a free shuttle bus to the nearest ski station. The food is excellent and varied at all times. There are many more activities and facilities such as live music at the evenings. The surroundings are mesmerising in winter, and when looked at from the hotel! We had a superb stay, and a very good part of this feeling is thanks to the hotel facilities and more importantly to its staff. Thanks to you all!Guest review byDanSingapore
- From US$392.20 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,525 reviewsI booked 2 rooms (premier deluxe twin) for 3 nights in December 2024. Hakodate is my first stop in my 2 weeks Hokkaido trip. The breakfast is so very exceptional! This hotel’s exceptional breakfast sets the standard so high that none of the hotels in our Hokkaido trip could match. When we had our breakfast in our next destination (in Noboribetsu), my elder son’s face is so black! Hahaha! If you are planning your trip, you might want to put this hotel as the last hotel. Room is of good size. Bright and gives very good view. Beds are comfy. Toilets are very clean. The onsen pools are new and big. In my trip, my favourite onsen pool is Noboribetsu Grand Hotel’s sulphur pool. If I am back in Hakodate, I will stay in this hotel again.Guest review byLin HsiungSingapore
- From US$260.34 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 803 reviewsWe stayed here for 2 nights in November 2023. The Japanese-Style Twin Room - Non-Smoking - West Wing, the room was tidy, very spacious and overlook the Sea of Okhotsk. Internationl and Japanese original dish in buffet breafast and dinner. Lots of choices and very delicious dishes. There are male and female Onsen, also you can book a private Open Air Onsen Bath. Onsite Hokkaido souvenir shops for shopping and tax refunds as a big bonus. We would denfinely stay here again if we go to Shari again.Guest review bySQHong Kong

The breakfast buffet offered a simply incredible choice of dishes, I would have had to go to multiple restaurants to try all of those foods. At the price of around $35, the room was quite affordable as well.Guest review byMichaelAustria
- From US$167.70 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.6Good - What previous guests thought, 278 reviewsIt has a roof top onsen where both male and female can relax together, not many onsen allow family soaking in warm pool together. Most interesting places like Furano, Daisetsuzan and noboribetsu are not close to Sapporo even with self-drive trips. So don’t base your self in Sapporo as it is far from its own airport anyway. Stay in Sapporo if you want to explore its surrounding areas.Guest review byChangAustralia - 8.0

Hakodate per se is a quaint lite town, whose main attractions can be visited in one day. However, it can serve as a hub for exploring southern Hokkaido as it has all the necessary services. Food is certaiy a plus, particularly seafood, and prices are lower than elsewhere. Also, compared to larger towns on Honshu, it has a frontier-type of vibe.Guest review byArielSlovenia - 10.0

We loved Asahikawa, a very fun little city with a huge variety of bars and restaurants, easy access to local ski resorts, lots to see and do, and just a really fun, friendly vibe. Was a nice change after the hectic pace of Niseko. We will return next year and give ourselves a bit more time to have a really good look around (could do with 7 nights - our stay was 4 nights). Enjoyed the bonus of the winter festival being on during our stay, with spectacular ice sculptures the whole length of the main street, plus a big festival zone with activities, a huge ice stage, and dozens of food vans. We will be back for sure.Guest review byNicholasAustralia - 10.0

We did glass blowing at a great place called Il Ponte - made a glass each to take home! Also spent an afternoon Kayaking nearby at Shioya beach with Max at Sunnyside Up -well worth doing with amazing scenery and even a swim at a beach! Also found a great little place for dinner that locals go to called Summi's Grill in a little back alley near the Sun arcade. Met a couple of locals who go there every day!Guest review byPhilipAustralia - 10.0
We've been twice to Furano.
We've been twice to Furano. It's a wonderfully friendly and relaxed resort. While it's not large by European or American standards, it features fabulously dry powder snow, and great restaurant options at the foot of the slopes and in the adjacent town. The fact that it is small also makes it easy to meet up with friends.Guest review byStephenAustralia - 10.0

Chitose being a small city in Hokkaido is convenient with the new airport just within a short travel time to reach. There are a lot food choices and moderate shopping available within nearby distance.Guest review byTANSingapore - 8.0
Kushiro is a compact city.
Kushiro is a compact city. When I was there in February 2024 the city was fairly quiet. Kushiro is a good place to stay if you are interested in seeing the Red crowned-cranes (Tancho). The Akan International Crane Center is just over an hour away by public bus. It's also possible to travel to the wetlands and the many lakes in the area. The Kushiro City Museum is very good with displays of the natural history, geology and Tancho. There are also wonderful sunsets that can be seen in various parts of the city.Guest review byNeilThailand - 10.0

Very beautiful and quaint little town. Loved the hot foot and hand spas for the public. Views of the lake were amazing and the onsen with the cost of our room was worth it. Better to stay since it is much more beautiful than at Rusutsu Resort area and not that far to go snowboarding.Guest review byKenUnited States - 10.0

For a two day trip to Noboribetsu, we enjoyed the hiking, scenery, and shopping near our hotel. The natural hot springs there are also quite unique - semi translucent in appearance. We really enjoyed soaking in it.Guest review byDennisUnited States - 8.0

Less touristy than other places in Japan, but a good base for visiting places like Furano, Hakodate, Noboribetsu. We went there during the summer festival which was great, and the shopping centre at the main station is very good.Guest review byDanielUnited Kingdom
