Great staff who gave good restaurant reccomendatiins. Would reccomend pre booking restaurants in kyoto. Taxi to the train station cost 1900 yen which would recommend over taking the bus if you have luggage as can get busy

What an incredible hotel! The room was so beautiful and spacious (specially for Japan, by far the largest room we stayed in), big comfy beds, amazing big bathroom, they offer free snacks and drinks every afternoon, the staff is super friendly and the location is amazing! Hotel Kanra Kyoto exceeded every expectation - from its beautifully designed interiors and serene atmosphere, to the attention to detail in every corner. My room was spacious, elegant, and offered a perfect blend of traditional Japanese design with modern comfort. Beyond the room, the on-site Wagu restaurant was also really good - beautifully presented dishes and refined flavors. I also enjoyed drinks several times in the shared lounge area, which was both stylish and relaxing. The spa was another highlight, offering a serene space to unwind after long days exploring Kyoto. The service was outstanding. Every staff member I interacted with was warm, professional and went out of their way to assist. I felt genuinely welcomed and well cared for throughout my stay. This is more than just a hotel - it’s an experience. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kyoto looking for comfort, aesthetics, and authentic hospitality.

The best location! In front of Yasaka Shrine, walking distance Ninenzaka, Senenzaka, Kiyomuduzera, Nishiki Market and a lot more. 1 train to Fushima Inari, 1 bus to philosophers path. We watched the sunset at the nearby river while drinking coffee, had walked throught the streets of Gion at night, walked through temples in the morning. Starbucks at 1st floor and outside is full of japanese street foods. Good hotel breakfast, the rooms were clean and big enough, good ammenities. Loved my stay here for 5days in Kyoto.

We have been to Kyoto before, during Cherry Blossom season. The number of tourists was physically overwhelming, mentally exhausting and, at times, potentially dangerous. It was very nice to re-visit the popular sights without, literally, millions of people crowding the street and thousands of Instagrammers cluttering up the views with their vapid, narcissistIc posturing.

Miyazu which includes Amanohashidate, is one of three natural sites in Japan. The land bridge spans across the sea is fun to view from the observation points (on both sides) and you can actually bike (20 minutes) or walk (50 minutes) one way across. A small town with lots of charm and beauty.

Kameoka is the starting point of the famous and historical Hozu River rafting ride that takes you to Arashiyama, home of the famous bamboo forest. Enjoy the rafting, enjoy Arashiyama and take the train back to Kameoka. Hotel is a 5 minute walk from the station. A perfect day.

Gionmachi is a wonderful section of Kyoto and offers much to see and experience. It is easy, maybe 15 to 20 minutes taxi to other areas of Kyoto that are also beautiful, historical and traditional. Overall, this is a place I would come back to because I have much more to see.

Historical and beautiful. Transportation is easier to navigate than other city and food are also great. Considering to visit all temple and collecting the Goshuin -> that took a lot of time :) Considering an option of 1 day Kyoto bus and subway for 1100¥ is a great option for unlimited ride. Day trip to INE is worth also consider but be aware of weather in Dec, can be tricky. Also mostly place in INE is seems to be open on weekend. I was here in Kyoto for foliage and found what I wanted. Still a lot of place couldn't see but let's the next time visit to reclaim.

I especially recommend it to travelers from overseas. If you are sightseeing in Kyoto, Nara, or Osaka for a few days, staying at this facility and using Kameoka as your base will be the best way to travel to Kansai. Like taking a day trip from your home. If your schedule is 2 nights and 3 days or 3 nights and 4 days, it is definitely a good deal even if you add transportation expenses. I loved this hotel!!! The service was outstanding.

I loved this hotel!!! The service was outstanding. The rooms were beautiful and clean. The location was perfect - close to town but not in town. We walked everywhere and felt very safe. Close to the train station as well. I will certainly stay here on my next trip to Kyoto.

The Japanese culture, the Japanese put there respect for...

The Japanese culture, the Japanese put there respect for their country and fellow citizens ahead of their own personal needs. No garbage, no cigarette buts on the streets, no talking on mobile phones in restaurants or on transit. The rest of the world should learn respect from the Japanese.
