Breakfasts were freshly cooked and different every day. The location is great: the beach is just a short walk away. We stayed at the end of the season, so it was quiet and peaceful. There’s also a lovely path along the seafront, perfect for a walk or a morning run. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming, and the cats on the property made our stay even more enjoyable. 🐾

Lucky we found this place. Beautiful arrangement of yurts, huts and chill areas. Including a wonderful big garden full of fruit trees where all the jams are coming from. The staff is super friendly and very helpful not mention their amazing cooking skills. Will definitely go here again.

This is a freshly built guest house, all rooms are big, the furniture is new. It is pretty far from the beach but in our case we travelled by car and we wanted to hike more then going to the beach so this was not a problem. The price is very good.

It is an amazing place, really calm, the family who runs the guesthouse is so lovely and helpful. The beaches are just a few minutes walking. Very clean, and the beds in the yurt are really comfortable. My plan was to stay two nights and I extended it to four nights. It is a little far from the village, but because of that, the calm and relax that you can experience there is incredible.

I liked Rokh-Ordo, it is very beatiful, interesting and quiet place! Clean, with incredible Issyk Kul lake view! Also, I liked a park near the beach. Clean, beatiful, green with a lot of metallic yurtas and monuments. But, I did not like the beach and Cholpan Ota in general - a lot of garbage, expensive, horrible roads and traffic. The beach is not super clean and doesn't meet my expectations. If you want to see Issyk Kul, maybe it is better to travel somewhere else, especially if you have only 1-2 days to see this lake.

Culture, politics, religion in Kyrgyzstan is quite instable...

Culture, politics, religion in Kyrgyzstan is quite instable but in Tong i felt safe and easliny get contact with inhabitants. Each morning you hear "dobroeee utroo" "As Salam Aleykum" from the bottom of the heart. If you like to swimm thanks to stones, water here is clear, you can find also small, clean beaches with sand (removed stones).

I was made really welcome by the family who run the guest...

I was made really welcome by the family who run the guest house. I shared a wonderful traditional Kyrgyz meal with them in the evening and slept peacefully in a very clean dormitory style room. Was a great selection for breakfast and wasnt rushed to leave. Nearby are hot springs in the mountains and large cave in bright red rock formation, well worth visiting

My husband and I have visited Cholpon Ata six times from November 2020 until July 2021. We loved our stay during winter and spring. Summertime is not advised for those who wish to avoid crowds on yen beach and in the city center. We were fortunate to stay at Zaton Guesthouse- owners enjoyed preparing hefty breakfast for guests, charming garden perfect for yoga and taichi. We loved its close proximity to town center and the beach. The little Zaton Lake behind it was a bonus- perfect for quiet morning walk.

The town is a bit spread out if you are there without a...

The town is a bit spread out if you are there without a vehicle. If you are not staying at a resort (and therefore need to get out for meals, etc.), just be aware that you may have to walk a distance to get to the center. There is a taxi stand in the center, near the historical museum, so that is a great resource for getting back at least! The best restaurant was Barashek Terrace - good service, English menu, varied food options and tasty food. Bonus is that it's well-covered so it's nice and cool and out of the sun. There is also a nice ice cream truck outside. The shashlik at U-Rybaka was very good (especially the chicken) and I'm sure the Torro burger truck is good, too (Torro burgers in Bishkek are my favourite!). I would recommend going down to the marina and going out on a boat trip. It is is 300 soms per person and about an hour long. It goes out into the lake so you get some great views and stops out so you can go for a dip! Very refreshing!
