- Scored out of 10, guest rating 7.9Good - What previous guests thought, 265 reviewsSuperlatives pour, as they must for this piece of living history, still a members club for well-heeled Colombo society, set in the lush wooded Highlands of Sri Lanka. For Brits the portraits of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip (Churchill props up the bar), borrowable ties and jackets for dinner in the formal dining room, billiard rooms, tea in the reading room browsing Whitakers Almanac from 1956, hot water bottles, sweeping views (and weather) indistinguishable from those from a country house in Shropshire, render the experience surreal. Dinner was a great spread, the Sri Lankan breakfast a must. Stacey provided a warm and professional greeting, ask too for Hasim's short tour of the public areas. All the staff were unfailingly courteous and helpful. Room number 3 was glorious, well appointed and maintained with a large bathroom, all looking over the estate's perfectly groomed parkland.Guest review bySir Andrew Boord Bt.Turkey
- From US$367 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 397 reviewsThe hotel grounds and staff were amazing. They looked after your every need. Adjusted food for my son who has dietary requirements. Everyone was so helpful and kind. The hotel itself is beautiful and also includes a playground for children. We were short on time but managed to undertake the tea picking activity. Such great fun and informative too. Jeyanthi was sooo nice. Her, the chefs and waiting staff were also very informative on the food available and the history of the area, the tea produced and the hotel itself. We will definitely return for a longer stay.Guest review byBrindaUnited Arab Emirates

It is the perfect combination of peace and isolation amidst a breathtaking scenery. The hotel staff are very attentive to guests’ needs - be it booking car transfers or showing the best hike routes in the area. This place is a gem and we look forward to coming back.Guest review byFrancescaItaly
- From US$210.60 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 159 reviewsWe are an older couple that stayed for 4 nights. This was the best hotel we had stayed at, the staff where very pleasant and eager to help with anything that would make our stay a good one. Not only was it clean the food served at breakfast and dinner was the best we had had whilst in Sri Lanka. We would use this hotel again if our age allows us to visit Sri Lanka again.Guest review byValerieCyprus

The hotel is lovely, and the buffet evening meal was our favourite throughout our whole trip. It was my wife's birthday whilst we were there, and the hotel staff organised a birthday cake at short notice which was greatly appreciated.Guest review byShironUnited Kingdom

To be honest I have no idea how they average a 8.5, when it should be atleast a 9.5. Hadique, Fahaz and Hassan are great at their job and give you a great experience there. We booked it again after our first stay and highly recommend this place!Guest review byRobNetherlands

Besides doing the incredibly beautiful hike to Adams Peak, you can hire a tuktuk driver to guide you to Morey's Waterfall. the best waterfall we got to hike to in Sri lanka, challenging 1 hour hike but you'll get to stroll thru lush tea plantations and walk along side Lake Morey.Guest review byRobertson - 8.0

If you are into budget travel and want a genuine local experience, NanuOya is a good town to visit. It’s very close to the main tourist town Nuwara Eliya (approx 9km away) and has buses heading there every 20mins. You can also get there by train. The locals are very helpful and kind. You get a few places to eat food like South Indian dishes and koththu and a few places to buy liquor from. There are two waterfalls and the larger, wider one located inside the Glassough tea estate is a place where you can bathe in on a sunny day. It’s a lovely little town surrounded by tea estates!Guest review byLakshikaSri Lanka - 8.0

Maskeliya is a market town which could be lot more .The hilly terrain is a planners dream. I imagine the buildings painted pastal pink and yellow, flower pots hanging from the eves, it could be a destination rather than a quick stop to buy supplies on the way to elsewhere as is now.Guest review byVindhyaSri Lanka - 10.0

The location is off-the-beaten track a bit if that’s what you like. Personally coming from England I didn’t need to see Nuwara Elyia (little England), little point when I live in England! I enjoyed being in the middle of nowhere and in a peaceful environment before hitting the city of Kandy.Guest review byFabio116United Kingdom - 8.0
Nuwara Eliya’s weather is quite different from most of Sri...
Nuwara Eliya’s weather is quite different from most of Sri Lanka due to its high elevation. Unlike the tropical heat in the lowlands, it has a cool, misty, and unpredictable climate. Temperatures can drop below 10°C at night, and rain showers are common even during sunny days. Before traveling, it’s best to: Check the weather forecast for rain, fog, or sudden temperature drops. Pack warm clothing, as evenings and mornings can be chilly. Carry an umbrella or light raincoat, since showers are frequent. Plan outdoor activities (like visiting tea estates, Horton Plains, or Gregory Lake) for clearer parts of the day. “We visited on rainy days, which made it impossible to see the main attractions, as most of the time it was foggy.”Guest review byAsangaUnited Arab Emirates - 10.0

Do not climb on Saturdays as you will most probably not be able to reach the top. It was over-crowded and the path is narrow the last 500 meters. Got stuck in one spot for 45 minutes and decided to turn around. Still got amazing views though and the experience of local pilgrimage which was a privilege!Guest review byValentineSwitzerland
