We had amazing stay in this beautiful room! Villa is very cozy and comfortable. Also you can use clean and big kitchen with fridge, toaster and microwave. Most of all i liked the manager and owner Silva, he answered on all our questions and helped us a lot, also we was really happy with local food and especially breakfasts. I highly recommend this villa to everyone, quite cheap comfortable and cozy place ❤️

We had an unforgettable stay at Amber House. The room was enormous, with all modern comforts, a very spacious bathroom, and a king-size bed that made our nights perfect. The home-cooked meals were absolutely delicious, and every detail showed how much care was put into making our stay special. We loved the complimentary boat ride to the stunning, endless beach – such a unique and beautiful experience. The boat safari on the river and through the mangroves, guided by Shen, was a real highlight and gave us lasting memories. Most of all, the hospitality of our hosts, Nuwan and his lovely wife, together with their attentive and friendly team, made us feel truly at home. Their warmth and kindness turned our stay into something exceptional. We highly recommend Amber House to anyone visiting Bentota – we cannot wait to come back!

The hostess is a very nice and pleasant lady. We were here for several days and the breakfasts were a little different each time, beautifully arranged. No stereotype. We had breakfast in the garden overlooking the sea. Across the road is a shop stocked with everything. Swimming is better in the bay to the left of the accommodation, about 1 km, from the Wasana beach hotel. There are not as big waves as along the coast. I recommend Ayurvedic massage & Shirodhara

When talking about our time in Sri Lanka, our one night in Bentota keeps coming up as one of the highlights of our trip. And this is because of the lovely people we met and the amazing time we had in Bentota. Chami Villa's host is the kindest and most generous person there is. Even though we only stayed one night, he invited us to his birthday party. We shared the table and the most amazing and the richest food with him, his family and other guests and it was the most fun night you can imagine. To be met with such amazing hospitality is truly special. A big thank you and if you ever come to Germany again, you are very much invited! The room is simple but clean, has everything you need and is even equipped with a mosquito net. If you stay, you will meet the nicest people, the loveliest dog and the best hospitality.

We recently spent a few days at the villa, and overall, the impressions were positive. The villa is located in a quiet area, creating a tranquil atmosphere for relaxation. The villa's grounds were well-maintained, clean, and charming. We were particularly pleased with the availability of free sunbeds, mattresses, and towels, making beach time incredibly comfortable. The presence of a small restaurant on the premises, where dishes are prepared by a professional team of chefs, was also a delightful surprise. Delicious food is an essential aspect of a fulfilling vacation. The room we stayed in, situated on the second floor, was spacious and cozy. The interior met hotel standards with a wardrobe, luggage shelf, mirror, bedside tables, and ample lighting. The large balcony with a view of the pool and the sea was especially enjoyable, adding an extra layer of coziness. It's worth mentioning the responsive staff, who make an effort to ensure guests have a comfortable stay. Breakfast at the on-site restaurant was also of a high standard – diverse and hearty, providing options to suit various tastes.

Our stay on the Yathra Houseboat will always stay in our minds and hearts. This is our second time within 3 years. We had a vacation of our life with all the comfort and pampering by the staff on the boat. The cruise on the river provided rare glimpse of few exotic birds and a large group of monkeys. The narrations by the Manager of the Dedduwa Boat House about those birds were very informative. The Skipper was kind enough to stop along the river bank to watch the birds closely and take photographs. The candle-lit dinner and the night spend on the upper deck was simply magical. The next day my husband even managed catch some fish while cruising. The staff arranged them to be prepared for our lunch and that dish was out of this world. The staff went an extra mile to make us happy. The bedrooms and the facilities on board were above standard. This is the best destination we spend while in Sri Lanka. Keep it up Yathra and we will back again next year.

Our stay here was truly wonderful, from our warm welcome by staff, Poojani on reception made sure we were well cared for, and Kumara the bellboy, everyone was do lovely and the service was exceptional. My favourite place was the turtle hatchery.

My favourite place was the turtle hatchery. Most meals were eaten at the Hotel. Very easy to get around. There is a tour agency opposite the hotel entrance, it cant get any better than that. It is easy to take tuk tuk or van taxis. Superior beach front view. Beautiful gardens and swimming pool. Well done to the management and staff for this top class facility. Local fishermen were easy to approach and social chat with.

Not many food options in the area. Beach is okay not great. Ocean beyond the reef is very rough, no real swimming area. Area is also not very upscale, compared to other areas we have been to in sri lanka.

Villa 252 Kosgoda, With its beautiful sandy beaches. Not too busy and very pleasant to stay and lots to do in the erea. A visit to the Galbokka Sea Turtle conservation is very worthwhile! Aluthgama is a reasonably quiet town,. İt offers a bustling shopping area with plenty of local shops that provide the necessities of life without the over abundance of tourist style outlets. Local transportation as in tuk tuk are plentiful and very cheap. İt is surrounded by beautiful open spaces showcasing the areas natural beauty. İt is however a two hour drive to Colombo airport.

We did not venture into Bentota.

We did not venture into Bentota. We are expats living in Colombo so no need to explore the city. The hotel was at the right spot for a 100% relaxing weekend away with no distractions. The ocean is not that swimmable as the sea was very rough and looked dangerous. The pool was a welcome alternative. We drove to Galle for the Saturday to watch the game between Springboks and Kiwis. That was not too far, one hour away and a very scenic route. The hotel was also fully booked so must be popular.

Ahungalla is a little village, hence to see places around you need bus or tuk tuk services, they run on main road all the time. We loved Bentota - a resort 20 min on a bus - it had calm beach and cafes to eat/drink around. Just outside Bentota there is village where you can get good shopping for clothes, gifts etc. Galle is 50min drive on a bus from Ahungalla. It's a lovely historic place to visit. We liked Ahungalla as it's less busy/noisy than other towns, and the villa we stayed was 5min walk to the beach. There is a good supermarket for basic items.

Lovely place to relax. Large beach. Not many restaurants on the beach and not as populated with tourists as other areas we visited, but we loved spending time in Shah Shah's and found a sun bed to relax in with an umbrella. Also recommend Pier 88 to eat out in near by Aluthgama, lovely river views and good quality food. Also recommend Kandoori if you fancy a bit of Indian cuisine. We didn't do many day trips as we had already done some in Mirissa but we did do a boat safari that was pleasant enough. Great location if you want to be relatively near to Colombo and the airport. We mostly relaxed by the pool and had Ayurvedic massages so recommend finding a nice hotel with good facilities. Worth a visit.

Stayed at Thaala Bentota recently and had a pleasant experience. The location is excellent—right by the beach with easy and direct access, making it perfect for a relaxing getaway. The hotel itself is well-maintained with a calm and welcoming atmosphere. The breakfast buffet was a highlight, offering a good variety and fresh options. Dinner buffet had fewer choices in comparison, but the quality was still decent and satisfying for the price. Overall, a very good place to stay if you’re looking for beachfront accommodation with good service and a peaceful vibe.
