I loved everything about Halketha. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with such warmth and hospitality from Chitra, Mary and Nelumi. We were taken to our villa across a beautiful landscaped garden that also stays true to its love for the natural environment. The villa itself was perfection - perfectly decorated, clean, homely but also provided you with a sense that you were in luxury. The outdoor bathroom was a cherry on top, with a beautiful araliya tree in the middle. During our stay, we were not only treated close to family, but the quality of service was nothing like I had seen in Sri Lanka for a long time. The food was authentically Sri Lankan, with a rich yet classic taste. The property is close to mini waterfalls and great walks. This is a stay I will keep coming back to. A reminder that authentic and wholesome experiences still exist in Sri Lanka.

In 1 word 'amazing'. Susanna is a wonderfull host who goes the extra mile for her guests such as helping with a Safari boat trip (which only 200 meters from the accomodation), complementary snacks and a home made limoncello after dinner. The self cooked dinner as the breakfast was top notch and we've had the best coffee. The pool and rooms (with inside and outside shower) were really nice.

This is undoubtedly the best booking experience. not only in Sri Lanka, but anywhere. the hotel meets all the needs of both a layman and a person with big requests. a beautiful new building with clean, free and beautifully decorated rooms and common areas. there is a swimming pool in excellent condition, where it is pleasant to relax. there is a kitchen where delicious dishes will be prepared for you, when choosing an option or a spontaneous order. or you can, by agreement, periodically cook something yourself from fresh and cheap products bought at the local market. all this is constantly monitored and cared for. everything is thoroughly cleaned and washed. special thanks to the owner of the hotel and the staff: they create an unobtrusive, but very warm family atmosphere and will not allow you to need anything or get upset about something. the location is very good: the hotel is a 5-minute walk along the cleanest beautiful, well-groomed territory to the beach, which is beautiful: clean, beautiful sand with a very smooth depression, which will please both wave lovers and vacationers with families with young children - everything is safe here. there is a guest-only area on the beach line where you can feel free and comfortable. very close there are restaurants with really delicious food, with an expressive taste of products, not 1000 spices) this is a great accommodation option, which I can definitely say, because I have been to Sri Lanka a lot and there is something to compare it with. at the same time, you get premium service for more than an acceptable amount. I am very glad that I visited Nilan, and I advise you to experience his hospitality, if you are going to this area or are nearby - you will be delighted and will not regret visiting. very recommendable

You can't get a better room in all of Sri Lanka. Beautiful bed, fantastic modern bathroom, even a little fridge with cold drinks. Take advantage of the free boat ride across the river to the ocean beach. We loved it and we recommend it.

    Our stay at this hotel was unforgettable for our family. Beautiful surroundings, excellent cuisine, peace and quiet. The staff of this establishment is impeccable, always smiling and kind. The chefs who really appealed to us were the ones who were willing to fulfill whatever we could think of, always interested in how we liked it. But the one who really became our hearts was our butler Manju.. not only did he take great care of us, but he was always available to us, no matter what we needed. He was not just a butler for us, but also a friend and always smiling friend of our children. Manju takes his job very seriously and tries to do his best for his guests. On behalf of our entire family, we would like to thank all the employees of this hotel, including the ladies at the reception, the gardeners and the boys who looked after us and cleaned the room, and last but not least the lifeguards.     Exceptional Beachside Stay – Highly Recommended! Our stay at this beach property was truly wonderful. The first impression was excellent – the room was spacious, comfortable, and spotless. The service throughout our stay was perfect. The beach was fantastic – clean, beautiful, and just steps away. Special thanks to Chandra, who was the best steward we’ve encountered – friendly and attentive. The receptionist also provided excellent PR with a sweet and pleasant attitude, making us feel very welcome. The food was overall excellent, especially the large seafood dishes which were incredibly fresh and full of sea flavor.

    The breakfast buffet was very good and the quality of...

    The breakfast buffet was very good and the quality of treatments at the spa did not disapoint. However, we were disappointed with the general professionalism of the staff considering it is a 5 star resort. The staff was kind and friendly but just not up to the standard one would expect of a 5 star hotel. Here are a few examples: at the pool we ordered some food and when we were going to sign for the bill, the waiter said they had made a mistake and charged us for a dish that was 0.50 USD more than what we had ordered. He asked us if we didn't mind paying the extra amount so that they didn't need to redo the bill. Of course we didn't mind as its such a small difference (so we accepted) but out of principle, if a mistake is made by the staff, they should know to just fix the error rather than asking the guest to make up for their mistake (however small). We were also disappointed at dinner that the two a la carte restaurants were only open on alternate nights as it meant we couldn't get a table until 9 pm which is late with kids. Also the first wines we tried to order were out of stock. Finally on the second night at the Italian, three of the dishes we chose were unavailable. This is understandable as it is end of season, but again is not expected at a 5 star hotel. That said, the quality of the food at the Italian was really very good. As for the rooms, although comfortable, the extra maintenance effort is lacking. The hot and cold water in the shower was very difficult to control; the light in the small magnifying mirror in the bathroom was not working and the main telephone in the room did not work. Lastly, we visited the spa and although the overall experience was very good and the therapists were experienced, it was disappointing to have to wait over half an hour (after our scheduled appointment time) for our treatments. Overall, this felt more of a 3-4 star hotel than 5 star.

    Poor staff service during our visit while it was raining Unfortunately, they did not provide any umbrellas, and the staff did not seem concerned about the situation. However, the property is in a fantastic location, and I would still recommend it for a visit. It’s worth noting that the Sri Lankan economy has been affected by political issues, which had a significant impact on the tourism industry. Many employees currently working in this sector are relatively new, which may explain some of the service shortcomings we experienced.

    Aluthgama is a reasonably quiet town,. İt offers a bustling shopping area with plenty of local shops that provide the necessities of life without the over abundance of tourist style outlets. Local transportation as in tuk tuk are plentiful and very cheap. İt is surrounded by beautiful open spaces showcasing the areas natural beauty. İt is however a two hour drive to Colombo airport.

    The hotel itself probably needs an uplift e.g. pool deck is old, pool lounge chairs are broken, walls need a new coat of paint, however we enjoyed our stay as the pool and hotel surroundings are quite nice. Food at the restaurant was surprisingly good. Room was large and air cond worked well, beds are big. Bathroom needs updating but shower was strong and good temperature. Overall, a good hotel but don’t expect 5 stars.

Not many restaurants on the beach and not as populated with tourists as other areas we visited, but we loved spending time in Shah Shah's and found a sun bed to relax in with an umbrella. Also recommend Pier 88 to eat out in near by Aluthgama, lovely river views and good quality food. Also recommend Kandoori if you fancy a bit of Indian cuisine. We didn't do many day trips as we had already done some in Mirissa but we did do a boat safari that was pleasant enough. Great location if you want to be relatively near to Colombo and the airport. We mostly relaxed by the pool and had Ayurvedic massages so recommend finding a nice hotel with good facilities. Worth a visit.

    A short distance from Colombo, Katutura is ideal for a long weekend if you are based in Colombo. There are plenty of things to see in the area and you can always arrange a visit to Galle through your hotel.
