We stayed at this beautiful new boutique hotel in Mirissa with a group of friends from Greece, and we absolutely loved every moment. The location is perfectly set with views of the coast line — peaceful yet close to everything — and the facilities were top-notch. The rooms are spacious, stylish, and thoughtfully designed. We especially appreciated the air conditioning — it was perfectly set up to let you sleep like a baby, even in the tropical heat. What really made our stay special was the incredible hospitality from the staff. Everyone was so kind, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. The highlight for all of us was definitely the swimming pool nestled in the jungle — pure magic! A serene oasis where we could unwind and connect with nature. We truly had a fantastic time and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Mirissa. We’ll definitely be back!

Beautiful modern property in a great location close to 2 fantastic beaches and a few minutes walk to Secret Beach. We met James (and Lou) the owner and their friends who happened to be staying at the same time. We were welcomed to a ‘family feel’ environment and told to help ourselves to drinks and to join in on the daily on site yoga. The pool area was really relaxing and beautiful with the pool being the perfect temperature. We felt more like we were leaving a few days with friends than staying at accommodation. We were given great recommendations of places close by to dine (and there were plenty). The chef (sadly I have forgotten his name) was so lovely and helpful and engaging. We really enjoyed our chats with him and he was obviously also a talented chef. Breakfast was always lovely and the timing of it very flexible. We really enjoyed our 3 days here.

What a wonderful place and a great adventure. We love the location, the little house is super clean, no mosquitoes and the best natural swimming pool. The food is amazing and the owners very sweet and helpful. We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed it to the moon and back. Highly recommended. Also the organized guided tours delivered more than we could hope for.

Loved our 3 night stay here. Location is perfect, literally on the sand of the most beautiful beach. The room was clean, lovely styling and had everything you need for a beach vacay. You do wake up with the sun as the curtains are not heavy weight- but we love this on holiday!

Absolutely the Best Way to Explore the Sinharaja Rainforest! This was our favourite place we stayed on Sri Lanka trip. This eco-lodge is hands down the ultimate way to experience the magic of the Sinharaja Rainforest. From the moment you arrive, it’s clear you’re in for something extraordinary. The location is beyond words—completely surrounded by lush rainforests, making you feel truly immersed in nature. It is so peaceful and quite - no noise from roads, traffic etc. The staff made our entire stay seamless and stress-free. They have a convenient car park in the nearby village, where they meet you and transfer you up to the lodge in a 4x4—what a fun start to the adventure! We stayed for two nights (but would have happily stayed a 3rd). The accommodation is spectacular. Large windows on every side of the room allow you to feel like you’re right in the heart of the jungle. Waking up to the incredible sounds of the rainforest was unforgettable, and we even spotted monkeys and exotic birds right in our room! Amazingly, you also get wifi in your room. The staff were outstanding, from the friendly restaurant team to the knowledgeable guides. On arrival, the Duty Manager, Mithun, warmly welcomed us, explained all the details about meal times, and helped us plan treks into the rainforest. They offer a variety of treks and provide you with a guide. They are also pretty flexible, We wanted a longer trek to explore more of the jungle and this wasn't a problem. The trek itself was a dream. We spotted an incredible variety of wildlife, including lizards, snakes, and a stunning array of Sri Lankan birds. The guides were so knowledgeable and enhanced the experience. Overall, this was incredible value for money. Running such a well-maintained eco-lodge in the middle of the rainforest can’t be easy, yet they make it feel effortless. If you’re looking for great value for money and an unforgettable way to explore Sinharaja, this is absolutely it.

We loved our stay at LakRaj! We were there with a 1 year old and the corner, sea view room was perfect for us. The staff was exceptional, helping us out whenever we needed and even watched our baby sometimes while we ate breakfast :) The cleaning crew also did a great job. We actually had to extend our stay one day, since we enjoyed it that much. There’s plenty restaurants within walking distance, and you can even walk to a grocery store that’s about 15 min away. There’s also lots of eager tuk tuk drivers that will happily drive you. Highly recommend going for a swim with giant sea turtles that’s just past Dr. House (also a great venue for food and drinks).

The staff was exceptional! We stayed in several hotels in Sri lanka and we were always very well received, but this was definitely the kindest and most generous staff we met. On the last day, we had our flight in the evening and, not only they allowed us to enjoy the rest of the day by the pool, as they also provided us an empty room to shower before our flight and offered us a bottle of water for the trip to the airport- small gestures that make a difference. The space in general is really cozy and pleasant; you can see turtles swimming by the cost on the beach right in front if the resort.

Still open though, so bring a sleeping mask an earplugs ;) The place is very clean, and there are more than enough showers and toilets so I never had to wait. Oh and last but certainly not least, breakfast is one of the best I have ever had!! Instagramable food which tastes amazing!!! 10/10 would recommend and come back

Awesome setting for breakfast looking out on the mountain forest, with kingfishers, giant and small squirrels for company. My favorite spot was definitely the beachfront area right in front of Paradise Beach Club – calm waves, golden sand, and perfect sunsets. I also loved Coconut Hill, just a short walk away, with its panoramic view of the ocean and palm trees. Where I Ate- Most of my meals were at the Paradise Beach Club restaurant, which offered delicious Sri Lankan curries, fresh seafood, and good international choices. For variety, Mirissa has some great little cafés and beach shacks nearby – I especially liked the fresh juices and seafood BBQs along the beach. Mum's Kitchen, Big Belly & All you can eat were equally good. Mirissa is very easy to get around. Most places are within walking distance if you’re staying near the beach. For slightly farther spots like Weligama or Galle, tuk-tuks are everywhere and quite affordable. we booked our car for the entire trip. things to do- Whale watching tours Sunset at Coconut Hill Beach hopping Surfing

Hiriketiya was a great spot with beautiful beaches and plenty of energy. There are lots of people surfing, which gives the beach a lively vibe, even though we didn’t surf ourselves. The food scene was really enjoyable - Smoke & Bitters was definitely worth a visit, even if it’s on the pricier side. If you’re looking for somewhere quieter, the beach at Dikwella is just around the corner and less crowded.

Matara, was a good place for me.I stayed at La Polena, for 12 nights. The breakfast was excellent and the lady that made it changed the sheets and cleaned my room twice.I do think that they could give visitors a bottle of water daily. Also a jug to make a cup of tea in each room.Very little money is spend on maintaining the place. Also a sign with numbers for hiring Tuk-Tuk drivers would help. The manager is nice ,but a little slow in offering advice. Island rsetuarant past the Doctors had teh best food.I also needed more veg.So bought carrots, tomatoes and cucumber for myself. Also egg, roll in town. Restaurants at the beach are a rip off.10% added for tax. This is nonsense.Tuk driver from the Railway station to hotel.600 rup The one Hotel to Trainstation 800 the train from Matara.4 -5 hours 600rph.?

Talalla beach is clean and not crowded like many on the South coast of Sri Lanka. Relax all day under the sun and take a dip in to the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Not really a surfing beach but the right hand end in front of Talalla Retreat is safe for swimming. Friendly locals and a small supermarket nearby. Ate at all the local restaurants - they were all excellent, especially Manju Cinnamon Hut.

Mirissa is a popular tourist destination, and one where tourism income trumps everything else - usually at the expense of the environment. So, if you’re looking for an idyllic escape to a pristine, tropical paradise, you’ll need to lower your expectations quite a bit. Unfortunately, the businesses lining the beachfront have been allowed to attempt to artificially hold back the sea, by building awful sea walls, sandbagging, etc. This has resulted in far less beach than there would naturally be. The other inescapable truth is that it’s quite polluted - mainly with discarded plastics (bottles, drinking straws, bags, etc.) and other rubbish. It really is heartbreaking to see, and it’s everywhere. Picking up a few bags of it everyday on my walks didn’t even make a dent! (This problem isn’t limited to Mirissa, by the way. It’s everywhere in Sri Lanka. Substantial regulatory change and investment in education are needed - now!) As a visitor, do your part and at least set a good example by not discarding your rubbish. On the plus side, the people are very friendly and welcoming, and there are quite a few great places to eat and enjoy a cold drink. I found the better restaurants on the main road rather than the beach. There are also plenty of lovely, small, family-run restaurants throughout the back streets that are worth seeking out.

Thank you for all your hard work in maintaining such a wonderful place. We truly appreciated the warm hospitality of the staff and management. The property was impeccably clean and tidy, and we can’t wait to return for our next trip.
