MaltaIts in a prime location and across there is the beach. Also something that i have never found was that after check out we stayed at the beach or by the pool till it was time for the taxi to come for us above that they had a shower where one coukd have a shower before leaving. That was a bonus

Since it is located in the middle of green paradise, insects and mosquitos were inevitable. However the mosquito net on the bed was more then enough to protect us during the night.

WOW. First of all, the owners/managers and staff are so friendly and welcoming. When you drive into the hotel grounds it is like arriving in some kind of garden of Eden. They have beautifully landscaped the grounds so it’s full of a diversity of native plants and birds, even better than the botanic gardens in many ways! If I had been there longer I would have enjoyed using the fantastic gym facilities and free yoga classes.
I had one of the Mountain View rooms with a private pool and it was incredible. One of the nicest rooms I’ve ever stayed in. It was large with a spacious terrace. Gorgeous outdoor shower. They left body oil and scrub which was a really nice touch. There was a really nice shared pool area too which was never busy. I really enjoyed sitting after dinner next to the fire pit and reading my book. The sky was clear with a great view of the stars and at dusk you could see all the fruit bats flying over.
The view bar was really good, great cocktails and lots of free snacks brought round! And of course a great view.
I drove down to Le Morne beach which was gorgeous and had some good snorkeling right off it. Much quieter than other beaches I visited further up the coast. I went to the geo park and waterfall which were lovely. With more time and some cooler temperatures I would have liked to have explored some of the hiking around.
Amazing place I will recommend to friends and family, I hope to get the chance to go back.

Our family of 4 had a wonderful stay at La Vielle Cheminée. The farm is absolutely beautiful and the view from the swimming pool area is breathtaking. The farm has many different animals but the horses were the highlight of this stay for our children.
We stayed at Le Maison du Potager, the lodge was beautifully decorated but most importantly was very spacious and comfortable. The lodge was cleaned daily and the delicious breakfast served every morning at the balcony.
The staff was very welcoming , helpful and accomodating of any requests you might have .
The location is excellent to explore all the beautiful places at Chamarel.
Our only regret was not having the time to explore the farm further. Maybe next time:)

Beautiful beach, just for the hotel ( its very small, so the beach does not get crowded) enough sun beds and umbrellas, supermarket in walking distance. dinner was simple but okay. We prefered to cook ( we had a room with kitchen, which we wanted and loved) the hotel is very very nice, not for people who enjoy resort life - this is for relaxing a few days... great view of the Morne mountain from the beach, amazing sunsets, good coctails at the beach, dinner was 1250 per person, simple buffet, but nice. They had trips and activities but we didn't try them.

Loved the location, the food, the quality of drinks, the easy relaxed beach, the comfy pool, the room was really nice and I had a great sea view - after a small debate with the staff who tried to put me in the annex across the road. Hold your ground and they'll make sure you're in the main resort. Honestly this was a fabulous stay and I would come back. I really enjoyed how sweet the staff were. Ray on the beach, happy birthday to your little girl! You deserve a raise and all the tips. I was so welcomed and it was lovely.

We had a phenomenal time. My partner and I spent 6 days at Sand Suites Resort and every day was awesome. The food is great and the chef made us masala chai every morning at breakfast. I celebrated my birthday during my stay and the staff went out of their way to make the day special. The suites are comfortable and beautifully furnished . It was a lovely, lovely birthday holiday and I’m glad we chose Sand Suites for our stay.

The breakfast had a lot of options as well as the dinner buffet - we also tried different a la carte restaurants where the food experience was exceptional!
The beach is right in the front of the hotel - we enjoyed watching the sunset every night. The concierge was really helpful with booking different activities for us.

Nice beach , lots of trips available . You really need a car or book trips if your staying any length of time as nothing much else to do . No nightlife during the week only Friday and Saturday otherwise everywhere shuts at 10pm

Tu beach is just amazing, the color of the water is impressive, in the public beach you have to possibility to see the see turtles. The place is a piece of paradise.
Definitely worth to go and to spend some time there.
I would recommend an hotel next to the le Morne beach most of the hotel do not have the possibility to eat or rent the sun bed just daily.
Also I would recommend the experience of swimming with the dolphins that is offered almost everywhere.

It's a properly rustic paradise area, away from the more fabricated hotel resorts. Lots of locals who know one another and it feels safe, if a little rough around the edges. It has its own cultural and geographical charm that seems to differentiate it from other parts of Mauritius.
Lots of places to eat, a good supermarket - seems expensive for the area, but I think this is quite common.
Good offers of boat hire to get over to Ile aux Benitiers, which is well worth it. Close proximity to the lovely Morne peninsular and Black River Gorges National Park and surrounds.

Riviere Noire is a beautiful area, with good supermarkets and restaurants although some can be very expensive. La Bonne Chute Restaurant is to be avoided at all costs. Any complaint to the manager is just discarded as she was the owner. The local beach, La Preneuse, is very near, with beautiful white sand.

this is amazing place, the view is breathtaking, the chalet is spacious, very calm, the food is satisfying and the staff is very supportive and helping.
it is ideal for a short stay as if you would like to do more tours the location is bit far from everything and very challenging to reach. the best is to stay there and visit the nearby places around Chamarel.

Albion is a Mauritian village , located on the West Coast off the beaten track & away from the tourist holiday hot spots.
There is a local palm shaded beach with toilets & changing facilities, to enjoy safe swimming & magnificent sunsets.
Food & other supplies are available at the local Albion Mall Dodo Supermarket
Living with the local Mauritians enhanced our holiday experience as we got the know some of these friendly and gentle people.
You will need a hire car and Google Maps to get around

Lovely resort. Great beach. Gets very crowded at weekends. The beach is not quite as good as some of the beaches in the north, but it is still beautiful.
Quite upseting to see the amount of litter left on the beach and traffic around the resort was sometimes an issue. But the location is great and the western sunsets are stunning!
Our favourire restaurant was Mosaic, serving typical Mauritian food alongside a standard menu with burgers, pizzas and pasta with friendly service from Daniel and team.
Casela Safari Park nearby is a good day out, and a day trip to the east to visit Iles aux Cerfs was a highlight of our stay.

La Gaulette does not have a beach and the sea there is ugly.
La Gaulette does not have a beach and the sea there is ugly. Le Morne (which is very close) is the only place nearby with a nice beach, but it is widely occupied by luxury hotels. another problem with La Gaulette is that it is not usable as a base for visiting Mauritius, becasue is far away from all main attractions except 7 color earth and Black River falls.
