My wife and I stayed here for a night and were very appreciative as our flight was late, someone stayed up to let us in after midnight. The bed was HUGE, I've never slept in such a big bed. More importantly it was very comfortable. The site is beautiful, lovely gardens to walk through full of plants and a nice pool that we sat and dipped our toes in. A very relaxing place to be.

I liked that water was available for the rooms in a jug and not in plastic water bottles. I also liked that hot water, coffee and tea and cookies were available in the lobby. It was great to have private parking and a lot of air flow through the rooms with Windows and doors.

The entire staff was excellent. They cleaned our room daily, provided clean towels and were very friendly. The pool area was well maintained and was an excellent place to relax. The location was great, and was within easy walking distance to the plaza and lake shore. My wife and a guest ate breakfast a few times at the hotel and she said it was delicious with a great choice. It was very quiet and we slept well. My wife slept in but I got up early to go on hikes, and we both felt very safe. The hotel is well managed, clean and well lit. We enjoyed our 6 day stay and definitely will do again.

Ixtapa is obviously focused on the tourist money.

Ixtapa is obviously focused on the tourist money. Taxi service is good, but bus schedules are sketchy. If you come to go fishing, you can take a taxi to the Zihuantanejo harbor for 150 pesos. I recommend finding a good taxi driver, as we did, and get his card and use the same driver for all your travel needs. Ixtapa has limited shopping for groceries, but Zihuantanejo has a Sams club and larger grocery stores. The Delfiniti Swim with Dolphins venue has gone downhill and is very expensive. There is limited beach access, but the large hotels now claim their beaches as private. Dining is costly so come prepared! Be prepared for hot temps with lots of humidity! The tourist trap tours offered are also costly.

If you're renting a cabin with family or friends, this would be wonderful as a relaxing and beautiful stay. If you're not doing that, the place is a bit of a tourist trap. There are things to do, but they will cost $$$.

I have been to Colima many times, first trip 1990. Not really promoted as a tourist destination, but many things to do. Beaches not far away, mountains close by. A beautiful volcano overlooks the city. The dollar goes a long way in this area. Not much English is spoken, but enough to get by. Restaurants are plentiful and getting around by taxi is very easy.

Ajijic was very nice, especially as it was the off-season.

Ajijic was very nice, especially as it was the off-season. I enjoyed the town. I would have liked it better if there were not so many expats. I wanted more of an opportunity for speaking Spanish, but I kept running into people who could not speak Spanish or did not want to speak Spanish. For Spanish, I had to take a bus to go to Chapala. I was later told that 70% of the population of Ajijic is expats and that Chapala was about 5% expats. (This was told to me by an expat couple and verified by others, including people who were non-English-speaking.) Ajijic was still very nice and I enjoyed walking around it. I just didn't get to speak as much Spanish as I would have liked.

Such a great little town.

Such a great little town. We came in the off season so it wasn't too crowded. There are many bars and restaurants that have their own style and personality. The sunsets were amazing and the people were very friendly. It's easy to get around town but I would recommend renting a golf cart or car because of the humidity. We never had a bad meal there, even the pizza from the street vendor was tasty.

The room is very nice! Breakfast is the best. But Restaurant food could offer more choices then it does. Maybe real steaks cooked to your desire? And Roasted chicken. Or fish? Beautiful setting and location. I believe the Restaurant could be a real upscale place. If given the right tools of perfection!!!

The city was nice but the hotel was not.

The city was nice but the hotel was not. It really need an update. For the money it cost to stay there, you would think it had to be better. I would never go again. Also be very careful at the beach. DO NOT GO IN THE WATER. The whole time we were there they has RED Flags Waring. A big group party of people were staying next to us at the hotel. In one of the last night we stayed, We started to hear a lot of people crying. One of the man in the group had gone in the beach/ocean got caught in the waves and drowned. It was so sad that we left early.
