- From US$208.39 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 119 reviewsThis is the hotel where you feel like at home from the first step. Elisabeth welcomed us with a glass of wine and some cheese. The room reminds the bedroom in the palace. Everything is in a very good taste and quality. Lovely small hotel. Biggest asset of this place is staff. Elisabeth takes care of you from entry till departure. She also prepared excellent breakfast for us. Thanks 🙏Guest review byWojciechPoland
- From US$84.84 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,984 reviewsThe location was perfect, and such a pretty garden at the entrance! We explored Picton by foot, and did a bit of shopping as well. We were able to get into our room a little early as a bonus due to when our flight arrived. The information from reception about preparations for the Queen Charlotte Walk were appreciated, as we didn't know quite what to expect.Guest review byVikkiChile
- From US$159.57 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,555 reviewsLocation: easy walking distance to local shops, cafes, and the ferry terminals. It says it in the name, great "Harbour View". Free onsite and safe street parking. Quiet. Comfortable bed. I enjoyed the best sleep I've had in weeks. Well appointed. It had everything you need (and more)... I could have well stayed longer.Guest review bySimon de Saint-ClaireGermany
- From US$102.78 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,654 reviewsEverything had been well planned from having all the sky channels, bbc world news, and even down to the big enough size of the cereal bowls for people who eat a proper cereal breakfast, and the location was a 3 minute walk into the town.Guest review byPatrickJersey
- From US$55.97 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 592 reviewsThe TV room should be listed as a national treasure and placed on a must see list for the South Island on Atlas Obscura. We had the greatest time and I will hopefully be booking my 50th just to hold the party in the room.Guest review byAnaSpain

Lochmara Bay has so much to see and do and has beautiful scenery. Peaceful and quiet if you don't mind the odd speedboat or jetski. Lochmara Lodge is a fantastic option for people stopping in from tramping on the Queen Charlotte Track or visiting by boat (20 mins from Picton) - the accommodation was excellent as was the food and activities on offer. They even take your bags boat to door and back! Activities include roaming the stunning gardens with unusual forest artwork, enjoying the wildlife in the forest and marine life from the viewing boat, feeding the animals, kayaking, swimming when warm enough, lying in the hammocks!!! Big shout out to the staff who work hard and are helpful and friendly.Guest review byAnonymousNew Zealand - 8.0

We did the Queen Charlotte s walk and staying in the lodge was such a treat for us. They offer pack lunch to rake away for the people doing the track which is really helpfull and there is an outdoor spa available.Guest review byGaelleNew Zealand - 10.0

I loved the remoteness of where we stayed, yet the sense of being safe and looked after by the locals. The views and natural environment are sublime. The only permitted way to get here is currently by boat as the road has been damaged by a storm and is only allowed to be used by residents' and service vehicles. This makes it very safe to walk up the road to tracks into the wonderlands the area has to offer. The walks vary from fairly easy to somewhat taxing. Some of the tracks have a challenging gradient if you are not used to walking, and would be more difficult if they are wet. Having said that, we are 'senior citizens' with average fitness and we managed to summit the Onahau lookout (416 meters / 1368 feet) above sea level) and return in one piece.Guest review byTomNew Zealand - 8.0

While many will only see Picton as a quick stopover between the North and South Islands it is really worth spending a little more time there. It is a lovely little town with great scenery, wonderful access to Queen Charlotte Sound and good food, shopping and friendly people.Guest review byRichardAustralia - 8.0

Stunning location and very cool property that is perfect for families. Be careful with exploring- we had an accident. Loved the paddle-boarding and glow-worms. Very patchy internet connections. Views from the rooms wonderful. Cafe has good food and coffee although pricey. I would bring more food to self-cater another time. Appreciated access to a laundry.Guest review byClaireNew Zealand - 10.0

No one told us that we should have caught the Ferry to Punga Cove from Picton. We drove for hours only to find out that the road was closed for maintenance. Very annoying and we had to wait for hours to drive through a very short window of time to get through. Apparently Booking.com was told by the property, but the Booking.com did not tell us. Disappointing!Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

The peaceful environment and the time to relax in beautiful surroundings. Lovely environment to just chill out and away from stress. Take a tour with Phil through the sounds on his boat. Sports massage with Julie is awesome too.Guest review byKarenNew Zealand - 10.0

Stunning views down the harbour and plenty of eateries and accommodation options. We ate at Cortado twice as we could take our Labrador inside & they had a fab dog menu! A beautiful drive across to Anakiwa. We’ll definately stay longer next time.Guest review byPatriciaNew Zealand - 10.0
An unspoilt location to enjoy a break.
An unspoilt location to enjoy a break. The Marlborough Sounds are unique and it takes a little effort to get there, but well worth it to enjoy the tranquillity and all it offers. Lovely clear water to swim or other water sports. Excellent outdoor cafe for evening meal or you can self cater. Portage hotel is close by also had good food.Guest review byTrishNew Zealand
