United StatesExtremely clean. Kitchen was fully stocked (pots, bowls, plates, glasses, mugs, silverware, other utensils, and a full range of appliances and cleaning supplies). Heater worked well. Beds and couches were very comfortable. Bathroom was great. And the views of the ocean from both the living room and the main bedroom were nothing short of stupendous.

AustraliaAbsolutely fantastic little gem for a couple's getaway! The location and scenery is spectacular. Loved Jack's bay so much. Very quiet and serene at night. Lots of little touches made the stay special - matching and tastefully picked out crockery and cutlery, sharp knives, very comfortable bed with quality linen. Even chip and dip with a bottle of cold bubbles on arrival! Bbq clean and with all the accoutrements - even cleaning wipes. They have thought of everything!! Thank you so much!!

The motel exceeded my expecation, super nice enveriment and comfortable sleeping experience, it's such a nice place to find in a small town like this. And the staff is super friendly, keeps remindering us about dinner option, fueling advise, it was quie an experience.

Charming. Very nice host. Muffins are truly amazing! Standard motel...a bit dated yet still has a stepped up feel. Nice linens, very comfortable bed. Kichen is small but well equipped for a short stay. Room was super clean.

Comfortable and relaxing place to stay in the Catlins. Jane was great, providing some basics groceries such as fresh milk, eggs and butter etc. Lovely, quiet location with great walks nearby.

I found Kaka Point had a lovely peaceful community vibe.
I found Kaka Point had a lovely peaceful community vibe. The weather turned during my short stay there, but that didn't spoil my walk out to the lighthouse at Nugget Point. It was extremely windy with very rough seas, which made me appreciate how hard shipping must have been back in the day.

Owaka is a small village, it has an excellent Inn especially for accommodation. The village has a small but well stocked supermarket, it has two restaurants and two cafes. It is quiet and peaceful. It is well located for visits to sites along the coast. It has a modern museum that gives you information on the history of Owaka it also had an art exhibition.

Travellers just need to be aware that Niagara Falls is a joke, but it is a lovely place to stay. Possibly, Curio Bay around the corner would be a more spectacular place to stay, but Niagara is only a short driving distance away.
We used Niagara as our base to get to Invercargill, after travelling from Dunedin. We spend a day visiting Mclean falls, unfortunately Cathedral Cave was closed.

Comfortable beds, nice restaurant and bar-although we only bought drinks.
The ladies toilets were not cleaned thoroughly and the lighting was very dull in the kitchen.
McLean falls are definitely worth the walk.

Everything we needed for our stay.
We also found a wonderful store that did Fabulous meals and very special decorated ice creams. Now we had been total there wasn't anything within 10 kilometers away.
This was within walking distance around the corner petrol too.

Loads of wildlife to watch- we saw bellbirds, fantail, a yellow eyed penguin, sealions all within a few meters of where we were staying. We walked over to Jacks Blow hole following the doc track beside the accommodation. We were down for a School reunion but have previously visited sites such as McLean falls, Purakanui falls, Surat bay, Cannibal bay, Curio Bay, Horseshoe falls. All well worth a look around. This is some of New Zealands presitine rainforest and home to many bird species as well as the world's rarest penguins - Hoiho - Yellow Eyed Penguins.

A nice spot close to Owaka for essentials and not too far...
A nice spot close to Owaka for essentials and not too far from Balclutha either. We found some books in 2 shops (second hand) at Balclutha but there was also a "library" fridge just across the road from the accommodation. Also a nice coffee just at the end of the street.

Beautiful spot in the Catlins. Lovely beach and forest walk. A stones throw throw from the Nugget Point Lighthouse and Roaring Bay penguin hide. Great affordable accommodation at Nugget View Kaka Point Motel and celiac friendly dinner at The Point Restaurant and Bar.

Amazing place and very central to all the amazing walks and sights to see in the Caitlin’s. Great pub for drinks and meals, shops, petrol and a cool playground for the kids!
The information centre/museum etc was also great with very knowledgeable staff.

I only recorded the address which was rejected by the sat...
I only recorded the address which was rejected by the sat nav on my car. After travelling all the way to Niagara we were advised that the address was about 6km back at Waikawa. Tried to phone the owner and requested to leave a message which I didn't do! By the time received a return response we were at the accommodation.
