It is located close to the bus stop which is convenient for us when we came from Dunedin. Shopping mall is nearby so very nice. Decorations are stylish. the train, the old town, the seals the penguins. The Craftwork pub, the robot shop, the criterion, the kids playground, the farmers market...all doable in a weekend and all within easy walking distance. and a drive to Kakanui is worth it tooGuest review byLesleyNew Zealand - 10.0

We lived in Omarama approximately 30 years ago. It was lovely to see the progress in the town. There is plenty of places to eat out and all of them offer a good range of food, with friendly efficient staff.Guest review byHeatherNew Zealand - 10.0

It's a very special place to have crayfish and fresh fish at the Fish Wife. It's the only reason we travel and stay at Moeraki. Absolutely loving it. The Moeraki Tavern is also another fantastic place to eat. I highly recommend both.Guest review bySofia DalyNew Zealand - 10.0

I liked exploring the river and would have fished if we had stayed. Food at the local pub was good, we didn't try the steaks. There are lots of families who go to Kurow camping for the water activities in the lakes. There is a newish wetland to explore, and others like to cycle the area. The penguins are 90 kilometers away there are a fossil attraction down the road.Guest review byJoyAustralia - 10.0

A discovery really, as it was the most convenient place for a break in our journey but what a wonderful central location it turned out to be to see many surrounding wonders. Each season would have its own reasons for spending time here, which is exactly what I now intend to do.Guest review byArendNew Zealand - 10.0

How tidy people's property's. Super friendly people. Good food. Lovely works to the beach. Four square store well stocked, and easy to get around. Hampden pub was nice to eat and relax for the whole family. They have games for kids to play, pingpong, table tennis and fus ball. Will go back some day.Guest review byRickerbyNew Zealand - 10.0

The beach ( Campbells Bay) was just stunning for walking and a quick dip. Very sheltered. Loved chatting to the locals at the market, the dairy and the owners of Kakanui Tomatoes. All so incredibly friendly . We took our bikes which was great for looking around because the town is quite spread out . We are coming backGuest review bytraceynelson99@gmail.comNew Zealand - 10.0

Time and Hugh created the perfect atmosphere to relax. From comfy beds, all the amenities one could want, and a beautiful property, the stay felt comfortably luxurious. With thoughtful touches like fresh-baked bread and a lavender diffuser to scent the room, it felt as if the hosts really considered everything about our stay—and they did!Guest review byAshlynNew Zealand - 8.0

Not much to do in Oamaru, will recommend visiting the quaint museums, Oamaru heritage museum (pay/donate as you wish) and steampunk museum (NZD$15/pax). both were interactive and we enjoyed it with the helpful stuff. the day was a cloudy and rainy so we opted out of visiting the penguins - they have a live youtube stream of the penguins coming home which we watch. We did visit the penguins tour during the day, which was open to public and saw some fur seals relaxing. To watch the penguins coming home, it's NZD$45 per pax, which we thought was a little expensive. + the weather being bad, we decided to watch them online instead.Guest review byVerenaSingapore - 10.0

Often overlooked as a passing point to more exotic destination, this little stop over town has a few worthy attractions; the Clay Cliffs, the Ahuriri River, the Hot tub and the Glider rides etc. It is also near Twizel and Lake Ohau too.Guest review byJeremyAustralia
