Everything was amazing! Carolyn was incredibly friendly and kind, super helpful and was always quick to respond to any questions. The home itself was fantastic - charming, cosy, and functional with exceptional views (from so many rooms!). The property gardens were beautiful and the outdoor areas were absolutely perfect - there was lots of rain/wind on the days we were there but the outdoor areas were so great it didn't hinder our stay at all! (Well protected from elements, stunning views and comfy chairs!)
Fireplace was amazing and Carolyn provided plenty of firewood for us. Great location as well- only 15mins from the waitomo caves/restaurants etc. yet we still had beautiful privacy up in the mountains! Overall we loved every part! Location, views, charm, and super comfy beds!! Great stay for couples, friends, families, holidays and little getaways! Carolyn was an exceptional host and the home was fantastic - we will definitely be back!

Helen and John were so welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was delicious, I highly recommend the Waitomo eggs - you will be blown away by how delicious they are. Gorgeous view from our room, could watch the sunset go down with a beer in hand. Perfectly situated close to the town, you can stroll to the grocers and out for dinner. Very powerful shower, air con in the room and a comfortable bed. Cannot recommend this place more. I will be coming back and booking in with Helen and John.

Lovely owners; very helpful directing us to local bar (friendly and cheap steaks) and suggested we did a river walk in the dark to see glow worms - brilliant.
Long chat about the clear skies.
Ideal Motel when visiting the Glow Worm Caves.

It was clean, dry and warm. I arrived late at night in the rain and the young man who I met at the office was an exceptional host. I had a nice sleep listening to the rain and woke up early in the morning to sound typical on a NZ farm - magpies and bleating lambs. It was really lovely.

Our tour of the Ruakura cave was great.
Our tour of the Ruakura cave was great. Our tour guide held the kids' attention the entire way and answered all of their questions. The caves are amazing to see and this walking tour is just the right length, even for young kids.
Don't forget to book ahead and take a warm top as it is quite chilly down there.

I enjoyed the peacefulness of the countryside.
I enjoyed the peacefulness of the countryside.
The have a small kitchen, with gas oven cooker, fridge.
There are two bedrooms. Double bed. and the other has bunks.
The shower is very small. Big outdoor bathtub! We stayed there as we visited Waitomo Caves the next day. We bought our own food to cook.

My first trip was 45 years ago.
My first trip was 45 years ago. In comparison back then there was no boat ride. So that was a nice way of finishing the tour. It was summer back then so there were more glow worms. So best time would be in the warmer months. We’re allowed to take photos at the very end only. Would have been nice to have been able to take a few of the caves itself without a flash as memorabilia. Also with groups going through close together it was hard to hear what our guide was saying over other guide’s voices. “Cup of tea” (John) was an excellent guide and very humorous and knowledgeable.

We booked an excursion with The Legendary Black Water...
We booked an excursion with The Legendary Black Water Rafting Experience Waitomo Caves and it was amazing! Our guides, Garret & Alicia, were fun, helpful, informative, and made sure were were safe in the cave & the water; this is is a must do! They take pictures for you because it would be impossible to float in a tube & take pictures yourself.
