- From US$324.72 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 442 reviewsEverything was pretty good overall. All email communications with Gustavo were great prior to our stay and during. We originally booked on booking.com at a very high price and kept looking and got a much better deal.....so I'd suggest if you're paying approx $250 USD it's a good deal. Food was great, grounds are immaculate (loved the 🦜 & all the 💐's), pool was nice and cold but great when in the sun for abit! We were there 2 nights/ 3 days for the sole purpose of relaxing and that's sure what we did. As mentioned in prior reviews, we found Peruvian families on site using the facilities and their clothing everywhere by the pool and grounds...maybe lockers should be provided for this. Only 6 lounge chairs by the pool, so not really good in that sense when hotel guests who are paying can't even get access. Also tables to put drinks on would be good (I think I also only saw 1 of those and again occupied by non-hotel guests). It would be nice if they had the theatre in English as well maybe at a different time. We couldn't get the TV to work really nor in English even after the maintenance guy came. We had several mosquitoes in the room upon check in, however was quickly rectified with a call to the desk and a lady came to spray and put plug ins. Woukd have been nice if we had clean chairs outside on the balcony for morning coffee (they were covered in bird poop) so we layed towels down on them as they were a tad tough to get clean. Yolanda at breakfast was exceptional. Went above and beyond for Us. We were also celebrating our Anniversary and they added a little nice touch to Our room upon arrival. We found it very clean, quiet, great food (make sure to save room for the Aranwa Experience desert....it's exceptional and have your phone ready for a video!). We had a pisco sour demonstration and it was awesome as we made our own & then got to consume them. They were delicious!!.Guest review byMelissaCanada
- From US$624.80 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 69 reviewsI had the immense pleasure of staying at this charming colonial-style hotel during my recent visit to the city of Cusco. From the moment I crossed its majestic doors, I was embraced by the warm and hospitable atmosphere that characterizes this place. Every corner of the hotel exudes a timeless elegance that harmoniously combines with modern amenities, providing a dreamlike experience. The hotel staff deserves a special mention. Their professionalism and dedication are palpable in every detail, from the impeccable cleanliness of the rooms to the personalized attention in every interaction. Each member of the staff seems to work in perfect harmony, creating an environment of collaboration and excellence that results in a truly memorable experience for guests. I would like to especially thank the reception team, whose cordial and efficient service facilitated my stay from the very first moment. Also, the housekeeping team, whose diligence and meticulousness ensured that each day began in a clean and welcoming environment. Last but not least, the restaurant staff, whose kindness and high-quality cuisine made every meal a true celebration. In summary, my brief stay at this hotel not only met but exceeded all my expectations. I highly recommend this establishment to any traveler seeking a haven of tranquility, luxury, and exceptional service. Daniel & Ewelina ZAPATAGuest review byDanielSwitzerland
- From US$748 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.7Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 242 reviewsI stayed here with my sister for one week. We are Australians and in our thirties. We absolutely loved our time at Casa Cartegena. The staff were so welcoming and made great recommendations about local restaurants (food is incredible in Cusco). We really enjoyed our breakfast each morning in the tranquil garden (recommend the crepes!), and each evening Pisco sours together with delicious snacks were delivered to our room. Beds were very comfortable and made up each day, complete with chocolate on the pillow. One of the most enjoyable hotel stays of our lives!Guest review byElizaAustralia

It was freezing outside and thank goodness there was a radiator which has not been the case in other hotels so far. The staff was just delightful! They went out of their way to help me with all my queries ( restaurants, tours, taxis etc). The most efficient and always so helpful was Luce. she was in incredible.Guest review bysoniaFrance

Cusco has a vibrant festive energy.
Cusco has a vibrant festive energy. What once was the capital of the Incan Empire is well worth a few days to explore. On Sundays they have a parade in the Casa De Armas where civil servants gather and are celebrated with Music from marching bands etc. There are quality shops for souvenirs with Alpaca and Baby Alpaca clothing and accessories being the more luxury of options. There is ancient architecture wherever you look.Guest review byRowanNew Zealand - 10.0

Loved it! definitely worth the visit. We stayed two nights in Aguas Calientes. I wish I had stayed a door or two longer as the town is small but really lively and fun to be in. Also, we took a panoramic train from Cusco to Aguas Calientes and its definitely worth the experience. I will be journalling my experience, and provide tips in the near future on my blog so stay tuned: https://travelzbyu.blogspot.com/ For now, view pics and videos posted on my social media pages indicated on the link to my blog. - TravelsByUGuest review byUrvashiUnited States - 10.0

Pisac is a great place to acclimatize if you are coming into the highlands from Lima or Amazon basin. It is charming small town with lots of historical interest. Archeological Pisak is well worth spending some time on. If you are looking to acclimatize to higher altitudes, Pisak is a better starting point that Cusco because the altitude is about 1500 ft lower and it is closer to Sacred Valley attractions.Guest review byAnandUnited States - 10.0
Cusco was a phenomenal city to visit.
Cusco was a phenomenal city to visit. So much culture, great food, good weather, and all of the people are super kind. Things to know: 1) The tourist ticket is great but only lets you in to each place once. So, if you take a tour which gets you a short visit and you want to explore further later on your own, you’ll have to pay the entire 75sol again for each such place 2) Elevation sickness is no joke, go slow on day one and rest/sleep a lot. Pack Advil as it is very helpful 3) DO NOT buy anything on tours. Everything is like 5 times cheaper at the warehouse in the center of Cusco 4) Make use of your hotels/air-bnbs - they were a great help when it came to travelling to different locationsGuest review byEugeniaCanada - 10.0

If you can, see Machu Picchu early in the morn or in the late afternoon for best pics and fewest crowds. Take the bus up to Machu Picchu and then walk the stairs down to Aguas Calientes if you have 2 hours for the trek and strong knees/ankles to manage the stairs. Don't let travel agencies rush you from Cusco/Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu and back to Cusco in one day. Definitely spend the night in Aguas Calientes before or after your visit to Machu Picchu. The town has a lot of character and tremendous beauty. Lots of choices for dining, shopping and spas/massages. We wish we had stayed 2 days!Guest review byAndreaUnited States - 10.0

Strongly recommend to stay in the city instead of doing your Machu Picchu trip from Cusco directly. It would be much less tiring and the city of Ollantaytambo is very cosy and comfortable. Specially if you are coming from outside Cusco and flying in, my recommendation to fly into Cusco and go straight to Ollantaytambo, stay here and visit Machu Picchu. Following by this, go back to Cusco for your stay and fly back. This was a good way we thought to beat the potential high altitude sickness.Guest review byParthUnited Arab Emirates - 10.0

The Pisac archeological park is very interesting and takes 2 - 4 hours to see. Take the taxi up to the site and consider walking down back to the townsite through the park to see additional ruins. Several good restaurants and coffee shops in Pisac. Easy to walk anywhere in town. Central plaza is a pleasant. Short drive from Cusco, could do as a day trip.Guest review byROYCanada
