Nature is right outside the door, inside in the lounge you find the cozy relaxed atmosphere with the fireplace on, soft music in the background and fantastic drinks. In the restaurant fantastic food is served, the staff know and can tell where the meat, cheese, fish come from. We are spoilt with delicious dishes! Do take out some time for the spa/sauna facilities to get that relaxation experience. Even the entry to the sauna is quite cool with the mini-waterfall effect. The rooms are well-equipped as well, and you can park your car right next to the door. We saw quite a few animals nearby (hares and deer), and there are good hiking paths and snow-show paths nearby. Clean and comfortable place. Visited "Old town" now for first time and it was nice. Cafeterias were not open, but nice old houses and beautiful church really worth visiting. In Luleå shops are closing very early on Saturday and are closed on Sunday, it would be nice to do shopping longer. Beautiful village, supermarket and post office close to the Icehotel. The oldest church in Sweden is located there. The torne river/ lake is stunning. One day would be enough to walk around Haparanda's features, along the river, the WWII bunkers, and the 1900 Railway Station bult in the Romantic style. If the neighbouring Finish town, Tornio, was included in a visit and you had a car, two days may be warranted. The lakeside location was idyllic
The lakeside location was idyllic We travelled to the accommodation on a short snowmobile ride through the forest. The northern lights were visible for two nights of our short stay. Jokkmokk is surrounded by beautiful scenery, lakes, rolling hills, forest. You sometimes pass reindeer on the roads. Gallivare is a mining town and in itself not particularly interesting for holiday takers but it provides good transport options to several of the national parks in the region. Kiruna is a beautiful place with extraordinary winterscapes during the day and even more so on a moonlight night.. The cherry in the top was the extraordinary experience of being blessed by aurora corona and aurora borealis sighting every night we were there ..
