Lovely new (open since 2 years) design boutique hotel located in a small village not far from Postojna caves. Lovely staff and magnificent room (we had 1 of the 2 upstairs suites). Dinner was delicious and reasonably priced. Breakfast was a buffet with varied and delicious offer. Would highly recommend.

Tomaz greeted us on arrival and helped us with what to see in the area and food options as the restuarant was not open when we stayed there. He even provided bikes for us to use to explore! The room was great.

Right from the start we were welcomed by the friendly staff. All facilities were clean and comfortable but the real bonus was the collection of tropical fish. What an unusual but very cool feature, especially as it is part of an effort to conserve these species. Would live to stay there again.

We had been to the restaurant before and had enjoyed the lovely wines and local cuisine, but this time we also stayed for two nights, enjoyed the pool with the panoramic view and the delicious breakfast on their terrace. We will for sure be back here and we recommend!

Lovely accommodation and a truly divine 7 course degustation menu. It was a wonderful evening and definitely worth staying here. The staff are wonderful and the underground rooms have huge skylights that let in lots of beautiful natural light.

The location is very easy to find, free parking lot for guests. The conditions exceeds any expectation for 2 stars. The staff extremely friendly and helpful. We asked for a hairdryer and we got it immediately. Anyone who wants a fair priced accomodation with excellent conditions should consider this place.

Very good hotel, ideal for visiting Postojna or on the way to the Adriatic Sea. Very warm and courteous welcome, super rich and yet inexpensive breakfast. Despite its proximity to the main road, the room was very quiet. Air conditioning is available, but we didn't need it. We can fully recommend this hotel.

We didn't see much of it, we were on a flight between Tyrol and Bibione. During this short time we felt comfortable, the accommodation was good, the people were nice. Everything we needed was within reach. Thank you for your hospitality! We hope to see you again!

Dobrovo was a very nice area with some nice wineries, highly recommend Edi Simcic ~ Felix was amazingly fun. It was rainy during our stay, so we will unable to do ebikes, however this would be a great activity in better weather. Belvin was a nice restaurant nearby with grilled meats and vegetables, along with salads and pizza. Maravida House is a great Airbnb with a wonderful property (3 rooms) and a very kind and helpful host, Jacob!

A quiet and less traveled corner of Slovenia with excellent wine, food, cycling trails, caves to explore. Within easy driving distance of the seaside and Piran for a daytrip as well as some adventures into the Julian Alps.

Divača is a quiet town/village on the railwy line between...

Divača is a quiet town/village on the railwy line between Ljubljana and Koper. It is very close to both Lipica and to skočjanske Jame. These caves are my favourites in Slovenia, although not to be visited if you have a problem walking.. The park surrounding the caves is very beautiful too. Divača itself is quiet, but has a Cinema museum, which is popular with those interested in early silent films. There area few trains three each day, and also a bus service during the week. Not at the weekend, however, as I found to my cost on another occasion when I drove a friend's car home for her - and then found there were no buses on Saturdays by which to travel back to the coast!, and the next train would have kept me late for my meeting. Luckily, there were others around to heading the same way. While Skočjam and Lipica are open all year, there are also smaller caves in the area which are open only in the tourist season. To drive there from the coast takes about 30 minutes, and about the same driving time will take you to Postojna and the more famous caves there, or to Predjamskigrad, an amazing Castle , most of which is inside the mountain, hence its name - the castle in front of the cave.

The area is absolutely stunningly beatiful! (even more beatiful than the Vipava valley maybe in my opinion) Very rural area. Possible to do nice hikes, but the tourism infrastructure is more targeted at cyclists. No marked hiking routes, or trail descriptions. The potential for hiking is there though, but you need to do your own research. It is possible to hike from Branik over the ridge through the hilltop hamlet of Sveti Martin, down to the Vipava valley. Beautiful views of the Vipav valley from Sveti Martin. Then have lunch in Gostilna sivi Čaven Jasmina Čermelj in the village of Potoce, then back to Branik over the Preserje village. And I think, that it would also be possible to hike to the top of the mountain ridge south of Branik, to get a view of the Branica valley. Cycling, you get more mileage, if you don´t mind the hilly roads. There is a bus to the karst hilltop village of Stanjel. It is a walkable distance, but the road isn´t very nice. There are a fair amount of rural B&Bs, at farms and vineyards throughout the area, that are more difficult to get to by public transport. There is an excellent restaurant and pizzeria at Osterija Branik.

Great hiking trails but you really need a car to get around. We were on foot which limited what we could do. We walked over 12 km daily and did very little. Most of the places to visit were out of reach.

The caves were incredible - a great experience.

The caves were incredible - a great experience. We bought the ticket which also gave access to the vivarium. Make sure you dress warmly for both as the caves are very cold. There is a shuttle - an additional 2 Euros return- that takes you from the hotel car park to Predjama Castle. This was also so interesting and well worth a visit.

There are many things to see around.

There are many things to see around. We visited Lipica farm and Koper town. We found very good food at decent price at "Gostlina Spark" restaurant, it is behind the "business incubator" center, across the street from Lidl supermarket.
