A pretty charming place.
A pretty charming place. A good amount of restaurants could be found and there were plenty of coffee shops and bars. The walk along the river is lovely as there are lots of swans. Ptuj is a lovely old town with much history.
Ptuj is a lovely old town with much history. My husband was born there so I have visited many times and was very happy to see how the tourism has become more popular in the last 2 years. However Ptuj is still a very relaxed town with a nice cafe culture and some lovely restaurants with both modern and traditional food. A walk up to the old castle is a must as is a stroll along the river. The town boasts the oldest wine cellar with delicious wines on offer. The old cobbled streets can be a little steep for some and many choose to get around on bicycles. Really I didn't see much of the town as our purpose of travelling was to ki in Rogla, aproximatelly 25-30 kms away from our accomodation. The hotel we stayed is not in the town but in a nearby village by the road and close to highway. By car it take only a few minutes to go to Slovenska Bistrica where you can find a shopping certre with quite a lot of stores. Slovenska Bistrica is fairly close to Maribor City, the second largest city in Slovenia. Pretty decent apartmans really close to bike park trails starting points, like couple hundred meters, so perfect for MTBers visiting bike park. Also, all facillity worked properly and we had 2 huge beds. Comfort was on the proper level. We even had terracw on which we could go smoke or just chill after long day of biking. Qaint and old little town that has a michelin star restaurant called Hiša Denk, and a quaint pizzeria called Marcos. Also a local, well stocked grocery store and the most amazing bakery that is open early and stays open late at night! The town is within the local wineries and minutes from Maribor. Pernica is a quiet spot, nice for long walks in the countryside. Many sightseeing options 10-40 minutes away. Maribor is very close and the city is amazing for family - great playground in the park, for walks in the wineyards or along the river. And the city centre is georgeous. We've only had a few hours in Maribor, like 8-10 hours, but I wish we stayed maybe a day. We managed to stroll a bit within the old town, went to the Piramida Hill and visited the castle and the Basilica of Our Mother of Mercy church. This city has more to offer and I wish we had more time. We've had dinner at GALA ŽAR, which is a small traditional Slovenian restaurant, The staff there was friendly, but their english was not very good. The food was good.Guest review byMihaiRomania - 8.0

Very nice historic town by the lake and river. You have to see is the castle and its museums. You definitely should enjoy the breathtaking view of the surroundings. The Kurentova hiša museum in the city center is also great. We appreciated the nice interpretation of the guide who introduced us to an interesting local custom. I recommend eating at the fish restaurant Gostilna Ribič or at the restaurant Gostilna Amadeus. If someone likes ice cream, then I recommend Sladoled Deti at Slomškova street 14 where you can get a huge cone of great ice cream for 1.8 euros.Guest review byLudmilaCzech Republic - 10.0

Nice slopes for both kids and more advanced skiers. Ski lifts work impeccably as well as gondola. Nice terrace of the bar in hotel Bellevue, understaffed but great location to join with non-skiing friends. Access to ski slopes is terrible if coming without car as hotel Bellevue is undergoing a renovation, so there is an entire construction site just before the slopes and it's muddy and for sure not pretty.Guest review bySanja, Zg, HrCroatia - 10.0
