LithuaniaWas nice that we got not villa Horec, but hotel Hubert. Everything was in the same building. With child (3years) was very comfortable.
Also we liked children activities, play room, animators (even if we do not speak slovakian) was very interesting and fun! , cinema with different movies every evening.
Also we liked surrounding, horses, sheeps, birds and so on, like mini zoo - daughter really loved the place, so do I , and husband , too!

NetherlandsBeautiful recently renovated and clean room with a stunning view of the mountains. It has a nice two person private sauna you can reserve. The restaurant serves good Slovak food and drinks for very reasonable prices. They even have their own souvenirs, postcards and snacks for sale.
But most of all it's a lovely mountain hut with the benefits of a hotel, and the perfect base for hikers who want to enjoy nature. Multiple marked trails are right outside of your doorstep!
It's accessible by foot or fernicular (expensive cable car), and just outside of the business and tourism of Hrebienok if like us you don't like the skiing vibe.

One thing I will say, on our last night a group down the hall decided to throw a theme disco party in their room, we asked these unruly people to turn the wannabe dj music down as our 2 year old was trying to sleep. They however continued their party. so i brought it up to reception, who swiftly ended their disco party. (9:30 pm) .
Kids play area in the restaurant area is also fantastic!

What a joyful place! It surely is gold!! Mirka, the owner, is the loviest host, and she makes the impossible to make you feel at home. We were surprised how peaceful and quiet the place is. The property is gorgeous (if you have kids, a paradise, as there is plenty of room for them to play) and for adults, the room is very comfy and spacious. Mirka gave us some really fabulous recommendations for hiking, as well as places to do our shopping or to go for dinner.
She was really kind, helpful and the space is truly a joy. The value for us was tremendous, as we truly felt like home.

I stayed in Villa Kunerad only for short time but I was very impressed with it. Not only room was spacious , very comfortable of course clean and warm but also receptionist was super helpful and location is unbeatable. This place is centrally located in Stary Smokovec near the tram station near the bus station and there are useful facilities on your doorstep. You can also find nice restaurants and bars right outside Villa Kunerad.

Beautiful location, very clean and cosy apartment. We were 4 people - two adults and 2 children and there was enough space for all.There was everything for cooking in the apartment, big bathroom with bath. We had a small terrace as well. Good WiFi. Super friendly personnel. I would say, it was one of the best I have been so far. 10 out of 10.

It is a very familiar-atmosphere place - it is because a family operated apartman.
It is not a five star hotel,but the place is CLEAN,the staff is kind,the price is good.
Close to the main hiking trails,close to every place U need to visit in High Tatra.
I recommend the place,we will go back if we visit Tatra again.

The hosts are very nice, kind and speak English. There is a kitchen with all equipment available. It is located 10min of walking from tram station, so you can reach all tracks by public transport. The room is clean and comfortable. Overall great value for money, definitely recommended.

Big, comfortable room. View to the mountains. Very good location - quite, next to the river and small market. Parking place is dedicated for each room, under the roof. Definitely the best place for such a price.

Perfect location for exploring the High Tatra mountains.
Perfect location for exploring the High Tatra mountains. Very close to restaurants and attractions. Our top tips for attractions within half an hour drive from Smokovce:
- Bachledova TreeTop walk
- Walk around Strbske Lake
- Strednica Parking Photo Point. FREE. A hidden gem. Best views of the Tatra Mountains. Walk down to the 2 lakes.
- Hrebienok funicular and Ladovy Dom (this was closed for maintenance but we heard great things about it).
Top tip for the most overrated and expensive attraction (i.e. not recommended): Mount Lomnicky Stit cable car by Tatranska Lomnica (we got a return ticket to Skalnate Pleso).
Best restaurant in Smokovce: Manuel Caffe & Bistro Italian restaurant.

The place is just beautifull, mountains are greal I love it in different time of the year. Transport is great however if you are paying for cable cars it can get expensive but simillary you will pay the price in different countries. If skying it is worth booking the passes in advance as it saves a lot of money.

Nova Lesna is The Perfect Place to stay when you want to visit the High Tatras. It is close, it has great value for money and has some really beautiful places to stay at with spectacular view. I have been here twice so far but definitely will come back every time we want to go hiking in these beautiful mountains. The train is close by and quick, there are shops here and so many options to choose where you want to stay.

Due to recent property developments, Smokovce are no longer the quaint, picturesque village it used to be. It got more crowded and noisier. Nevertheless, compared to Štrbske Pleso or Tatranska Lomnica, it is a good choice for a holiday in the High Tatras.

My 3rd time in High Tatra' and decided to stay for a month this time and loving it! Too many peeks to climb 😉. Very well marked trails with beautiful nature. Plenty of high peeks to climb although for some certified guide is required. And don't be fooled that the highest peeks are not as high as in the alps...it is very hard work and training is required to be able to climb them. Definitely a contender to Alps

It is a small village about 10 min by train from Poprad or Stary Smokovec where the mountains start. There are trains at least once an hour in each direction. Clean, very quiet and with a beautiful view of High Tatras. As it is a little village it is hard to find many shops and restaurants there. The nearest supermarkets are Billa and Kaufland near the Poprad station. There is a nice local vine shop in the village and a slovak cuisine krčma (tavern).

Stary Smokovec is a lovely small town along the Electricka.
Stary Smokovec is a lovely small town along the Electricka. Its clean, quiet and lovely.
It is a perfect starting point for Slavskovksy Stit hike or through Hrebienok you can have Teryho Chata, Priecna veza, Zbojnicka chata trip within a day.
For a post-hike refuel, i warmly suggest to have a Gazda burger in Pizza and Burger Vana. They have a several comfortable seats outside, its quick and tasty.
However, dont try to buy grocery after 6, shops are closed in the evening.

Beautiful area especially in early June (15-30) when it's not overrun by tourists. Great for families and larger groups with many activities for each generation. Recommended visits: spa treatment at the Grand Hotels at Kempinski, Grand Hotel, and Hotel Lominca; hiking or taking a cable car to the 'plesa'--mountain lakes.
