I was staying in the apartment on the top of the mountain. The views everyday whether from window of my apartment, or from breakfast area, were just mind-blowing, amazing. It was feeling fantastic just looking at those views. And the staff was so friendly, and it was such a great pleasure to be their guest. The apartment was huge. The bathroom was gigantic, and very clean. I was truly in heaven. Location was up in the mountains in the north and from far from Chiang Rai city. This location compromise is necessary if you want to be on the top of the mountain and enjoy sunrise and sunset from the terrace of your room. I wasn’t sure about taking the extra trip to Chiang Rai but it was so worth it. It’s a more relaxed vibe than Chiang Mai. It feels very authentically Thailand with beautiful scenery. There’s lots to explore close by and compared to anywhere else I’ve travelled in Thailand I found it cheaper. I didn't go around the full Ban Pa Toem area, but the area around The Northern MFU was full of food places. I never had to worry about going hungry. The people were also very kind. I ❤️ Mae Salong. The clean crisp air and many local ethnic groups make this a great place to visit Love staying at Shin Sane GH or Little House GH. Each still offer great prices for cottages and Shin Sane still has the original rooms from wooden house and at a shoestring price for this region Love eating at Yunnan noodles down the road a bit past 7 Eleven and Salima’s. We loved the slower pace of Chiang Rai, being smaller meant it was easier to walk to local landmarks. Walking street on Saturday is a must, it is an amazing market that goes for miles. Unfortunately the paving and foot paths are not maintained very well so caution is needed while walking. The clock tower light show every night at 7,8 and 9pm was a disappointment. I liked to have riverview.
I liked to have riverview. We had two single beds that we rearranged such that they were mire close to eachother. Not perfect but ok. For one person the bed was too hard, for the other it was good. Was great to be on the (small) balcony to look at the river, but there were no seats. I used the pool, but at the time of the day the two high building on the side avoided all sunshine to warm up the water. We also had to use our own towels from the room, one per person. Checkout was fast without checking the room. Few hours after we left, we were in Chiang Rai already, staff called us that they we left behind a watch. They agreed to send it to our home in Chiang Mai. Great service that we really appreciate.Guest review bySterkNetherlands
