We (a family with 2 kids at the age of 6 months / 4 years) had a wonderful stay at The Residence Douz. Amazing rooms, attentive and super child friendly staff. Breakfast was great and we felt very welcome in a positive environment, right next to the Sahara desert. The spa area is great. My best hotel experience in Tunisia so far, we even extended our stay. Staying here was an absolute dream! The camp is located right in the Sahara Desert, with cozy and beautifully decorated tents just a few meters away from the golden sand dunes. Waking up to the vast, untouched landscape was simply breathtaking. The experience was incredibly immersive, making us feel truly connected to the desert. Our amazing host, dressed in traditional clothes, made everything even more special. Watching him prepare traditional bread in the sand over an open fire, all under a sky bursting with countless stars, was pure magic. The food was exceptional, with a full-course dinner featuring delicious starters, mains, and more. Every detail was carefully thought out to ensure an authentic and unforgettable stay. Worth every penny! If you’re looking for a perfect, once-in-a-lifetime experience, this is it!

The hotel is a real oasi in the desert: the building is huge, with a great pool and our room had a balcony. Everyone from the staff was kind and helpful: we had the chance to book a tour with the camel in the desert directly from the reception (for a very reasonable price, 15€). Breakfast and dinner were included: dinner was not exceptional, but you have a lot of choice (there’s even a guy who makes pizza). Breakfast was great, especially the crepes. Everything was really clean, they change towels and make the bed everyday. Very good value for money.

Abdula and Momo greeted us and we spent the evening baking bread in the Sahara sand watching the sun go down. The entire place had a super relaxed feel. Thank you Abdula for taking us to meet your family and baby goats ☺️

The hosts were lovely and extremely welcoming and helpful. We had a wonderful time, it could not have been better! The garden is beautiful and the perfect place to relax. Additionally, the food in the restaurant was very good and clearly prepared with love and care. For people exploring the south of Tunisia (and birds or other wildlife), the location is great - supermarkets and tank stations nearby in Kebili - while the Sahara, mountains and salt lake are all within an hour drive. I cannot recommend this place enough, and when we return to Tunisia we will for sure visit Dar Barka again!

Everything Great! The apartment is big, spacious, brand new, super equipped. Extremely clean. A great place. The owner is a woman with a huge heart, and with great patience. She does everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. I add one last thing; I am usually a model guest, but this time I was unbearable: she was always friendly and understanding. Absolutely recommended.
