I stayed at the Smart Hotel in Trinidad last week and had a fantastic experience. The place was clean, cozy, and very comfortable. My room had a large, soft bed, a small living area with a big TV, a bar fridge, and even a kitchen sink, perfect for light meal prep. The private bathroom was spotless, and I appreciated having a dedicated work desk to get some business done during my trip. The hotel also has a nice café area with free coffee and a relaxed seating space — a great spot to start the morning or wind down in the evening. Its location couldn’t be better, right in the heart of Port of Spain, within walking distance to restaurants on the Avenue and close enough to the city for meetings and errands. Loved my stay here and will definitely be back again on my next trip to Trinidad!

Great place with cozy rooms and a swimming pool! Treat if you don't have a car and for some reason you are just staying in Trinidad without enjoying beaches in Tobago. Very nice staff, everything was clean and tidy, and the ladies were very helpful. Also, the area is very safe which is HUGE considering current situation in Trinidad - surveillance 24/7, area with government buildings, atractions and a few embassies - couldn't be safer, unless renting around president's house. Also, very close (5-10 mins) to food venues, a few markets and a nice alcohol store to buy yourself a bottle for the evening. Top notch place, will recommend for my friends for sure and if I'll ever be back, I'll be coming back there!

Exactly what we were looking for as nature lovers. No mosquitoes on the inside. Very quiet. It was cool despite no AC. Walking distance from the beach and river. Also saw baby leatherback sea turtles which was a highlight. Dinner was EXCELLENT and staff was accommodating to help return our camera that we forgot.

The cost of ground transportation was very affordable and accessible. Hotel did not make suggestions of places to visit which would have made the holiday more interesting; for example, the use of ferry service to visit San Fernando for a day trip. Does the hotel have a spa if so why not? Would have liked to visit rural Trinidad and sample some of the local foods. A day trip to such places organised by the hotel would have been interesting.

Couva is great you can get everything you need. The police station is close. the market is excellent. Not children friendly--should have some sort of activities for kids.. There should better sidewalks and cross walks for pedestrian. Traffic lights is a necessity in this town.

San Juan has everything you could want from household items, grocery, food, banking, hardware fresh meats, fruits & veggies. However the traffic and getting public transportation on weekdays can be a bit much, so would suggest leaving after 9am and getting back in before 3pm... to avoid heavy traffic getting back into San Juan. On Public Holidays and on School Breaks traffic is very very easy.

I recently stayed in a small rental house during my travels, and it turned out to be a delightful experience. The space was thoughtfully designed—compact yet comfortable, with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. The house had a welcoming atmosphere, with clean interiors and personal touches that made it feel homier than a typical rental. The location was convenient, offering easy access to local attractions while still feeling private and peaceful. I especially enjoyed the quietness of the neighborhood. The host was responsive and friendly, making check-in and communication smooth. Overall, I’d recommend this rental to anyone looking for a cozy, affordable, and authentic travel experience.

It is okay. it reminded me a lot of Jamaica. Transportation can be iffy. If you have a car that is good. Taxis are available, but you need to be sure you are located near a location where they pass by, otherwise, you would need to hire a taxi to take you around. The food is very good, lots of local and international options. The beaches are not located in Port of Spain, you will need to drive out of Port of Spain for this.

Okay-ish hotel. Very bad for safety reasons.

Okay-ish hotel. Very bad for safety reasons. A driver who dropped me to the airport extracted my number from private booking records and sent inappropriate messages. Total breach of privacy and a big compromise of my safety. Utterly distasteful and disgusting behavior by both the receptionist staff and the driver

There is nothing for the tourist here.

There is nothing for the tourist here. It is just one giant shanty town, and an awful lot of traffic with mountains of litter and rubbish. Locals constantly hoot or whistle at you if they see a white face, in the hope of selling you something. We booked this location in error.
