Excellent hotel, excellent facilities and outstanding service of all staff without any exception. Staff from reception, housekeeping, bar and restaurant, the security make you feel like at home. We had to call an ambulance in the night due to a sudden illness and remained in the hospital for 36 hours and the support of hotel staff was remarkable. Under the management of the responsible/manager they all act in a very diligent and kind manner, took care of us, specially of our children, who stayed alone at the hotel, while we were at the hospital,… their care and honest interest made us all feeling like at home and in family. We frankly recommend this hotel for the location, facilities, food and service, and overall by their staff approach. Congratulations!

Mahi Mahi Beach Hotel was newly built and completed in December 2022 to one of the most beautiful beaches of Zanzibar. The owners are a family business who everyone personally take care of the vacation guests and their well being on site. For wishes, recommendations and contacts such as car rental with a fair price-performance ratio, they are always open to organize your desires. The spacious rooms, with vault and refrigerator that you have to fill by yourself, are cleaned every day impeccably clean. The breakfast, snacks and dinner selection is very varied from international to local excellent cuisine. Personally we preferred to stay in a quiet place without pushy beach vendors and too many party people despite having the freedom to party other get other fantastic culinary options nearby.

Everything about the stay was perfect and exactly what we needed after a safari and hike. The staff are so friendly, welcoming and professional. The rooms were spotlessly clean, spacious, great facilities and very comfortable beds. Great mosquito nets and air con. We stayed at Kaskazini for a couple nights and Katikati for the rest of our stay so we got a good view of their different properties. The pools at Kaskazini and Katikati are similar with Kaskazini getting a little better sunlight in the afternoons and slightly more protected from the afternoon winds. They are a 5 minute walk apart from one another along the beach with a taxi service if you need it. The food at Katikati (La Shira restaurant) is excellent with a mix of local and foreign food. Room service can be delivered to you regardless of the property. The weekly bbq and live music was incredible... I'm still thinking about it days later. We had a late flight so the team let us use the pool area throughout the day and we were taken to their 3rd property to use a shower before we left. The staff can arrange everything from ferry and airport shuttles, to day trips and evenings to Stone Town. We were also given the freedom to explore ourselves and never felt like we were being sold to. Everything was to a very high standard but it was the friendly attitude of the staff that was the icing on the cake! Football on the beach in the evening, wine on arrival in our room.... everything was perfect. Thank you!

The hotel operates exactly how it is described on its website. I do appreciate "quiet luxury" which can be experienced by a good quality of textiles, large availability of sunbeds, cleanliness, unobtrusive and helpful hotel staff. The focus on sustainability is what caught my attention and I really appreciated it during my stay. The hotel helps you to organize trips around the island and the local boat is available for sailing and snorkeling close to the hotel (at additional cost). Within walking distance you can reach several kite spots. Breakfast is rich, served buffet style. During daytime you can use the beach bar - very convenient, accessible in your swim suit, and in the evening the restaurant opens at the first floor of the main building (where the breakfast is served). I really enjoyed the view while eating. The hotel is located at the beach, but at the same time in the center of Jambiani town. Therefore you can easily experience the local life or stay at the quiet hotel area if that is your choice. The changing tides allow you to experience both the wide beach and the water reaching right up to the hotel, covering the entire beach. Hotel offers the sea shoes for 1 USD a day to protect your feet against sea urchins which are very common there. The lack of swimming pool is not a problem at all in my opinion. I occupied double room which was very spacious and sufficiently equipped.

It was my birthday and I was surprised with a cake and staff sang for me including the live band during dinner.Very thoughtful and nice of them. By the time I retired to my room,another surprise was waiting. They made up the bedroom beautifully with flowers and candles and wrote a happy birthday with my name. The manager Rakeesh ( I hope I spelt his name correctly) was also very nice and arranged some entertainment at The Pavilion Restaurant . Upon checkout,we had missed breakfast and Benjamin was kind enough to offer us pizza. Thank you to all the staff at The Residence. You made my stay beautiful. Also the privacy of having your own pool was really nice.

The view from my room of the sea was stunning and calming. My room was delightful with the heavy wooden furniture. The hotel was extremely clean. The bar menu was also excellent and the chef was very accommodating. i had a wonderful time - was pampered and I was able to relax.

The beach is beautiful and the water very warm.

The beach is beautiful and the water very warm. Because of the strong tides there's only water in the morning and the afternoon but it makes the beach very interesting and beautiful and gives the oportunity to walk far out and find seashells and starfish. The only downside to the beach is the many very insisting sellers who make it impossible to go for a walk without being approached.

We stayed in a peaceful part of town, where there were noticeably fewer street vendors selling beads and souvenirs compared to other areas. This made the atmosphere even more calm and relaxing, allowing us to fully enjoy the local charm without feeling overwhelmed.

This is not a touristy location... it is off the beaten track... a village, by the sea, with an increasing number of resorts being added. I hope it does not lose its charm to the crowds. This is a quiet, special place.

This place is a gem! A new hotel with a big heart, right by the ocean, surrounded by peaceful gardens and a stunning pool. The rooms are spacious and stylish, the breakfast is fresh and delicious, and very friendly staff. The connection to the hospitality school is inspiring—it's not just a great stay, it’s also supporting something meaningful.. It’s rare to find a place that feels this good in every way. Paje, beautiful place and beach, plenty of restaurants both on the beach and on the road. The only downside is that the beach is in the shade by 16:30 and very high and low tides makes taking a dip complicated !

If you have only stayed at Sheraton, Marriott, Ritz, King...

If you have only stayed at Sheraton, Marriott, Ritz, King George or similar hotels - this is not your place. But if you are looking for clean beaches, clear sea, delicious food, peace, close contact with nature, friendly and courteous staff - this is it. There are many bars and small restaurants along the coast that offer a variety of food. In addition, in the town (of course African) you can buy products that are very fresh, and the people are friendly. Here you can buy handmade jewelry and souvenirs from the local population and the Masai.

Just up the beach from Paje town, a little quieter but thats what was nice. Wandered to different restaurants along the beach for lunch and dinner. Limited during off season but enough open. We came via Dar Es Salaam airport and ferry. If you can't get an e-visa before arrival, plan 2hrs to exit the airport. We missed our booked ferry and had to pay again for the last ferry on a different company. Used Zanzibar Quest to book the ferry and transport with exemplary service and support via whatsapp and email. The new travel insurance requirement $50p/p on top of the $50p/p visa fee is a scam that mars the experience. The amount of times we had to show our passport and visa / travel insurance was reminiscent of the cold war. Inefficient and overboard. So if you can fly direct to Zanzibar and use e-visa or have patience and a loose schedule. The drive to the Page beach area took about 1 ½ hrs with the first ⅓ taking ¾ of the time with a typical african road experience. Get a good driver. Driving licenses are issued by testing payment of fee. The driver booked by Zanzibar Quest was excellent. Great beach, wind was consistent during the afternoon to either kite or cool down. Bring sunscreen and mosquito repellent. Not a fan of the immigration process or the fees.

Paradise …Jim’s, Salim, Irene and Juliane were exceptional...

Paradise …Jim’s, Salim, Irene and Juliane were exceptional always ready to help. They just couldn’t do enough for you. The reception staff especially Yusef were very accommodating especially as we arrived very early from Dar-es-Salam! They let us drop our bags and enjoy all the facilities until our room was ready! We had a wonderful stay in Paradise.
