I loved staying here! I arrived alone when I really needed a place to take some time for myself to reflect about the next steps of my stay in the country. This was the perfect solution: it gave me space (the room was so big that it really felt as having a huge apartment all for me), peace (the place is not a party hostel, there is an amazing pool to chill in, the staff is very friendly and kind and shared such positive energies), good food (the breakfast for me was really good and satisfying, a note of merit for the hibiscus juice! Everything from the restaurant in general was also very tasty), flexibility (which is not a given and I really needed, being in an evaluation mode and having to extend my stay several times. Every single time the director was more than happy to welcome me again also being sure that I could stay in the same room. I even had a guest for one night and everyone was very welcoming!), good WiFi network (except for one day, but only because the whole island was off), comfort and everyday cleaning service.

The restaurant offers a variety of delicious dishes. The mango avocado salad and the tuna tartar were my favorites. The hotel is located just a couple of minutes away from the sea and a semi private beach. If you wish to organise day activities, the owner has the best contacts for you to enjoy that. These included sandbank tours with snorkeling and sea food lunch.

- the hotel is located outside the village, so you can enjoy the birdsong and peace (you can walk to the village in 15 minutes by road, or 10 minutes by the beach when the tide is low. Nearby you can find unique restaurant Stonne Village). - there are countless sunbeds, hammocks, swings on the hotel territory, so everyone will find their perfect place. - reggae vibes everywhere. A real paradise for Instagrammers. - absolutely delicious breakfast (especially fruit and pancakes). - some of the comments I read before I booked stated that the hotel has no beach and swimming area. Nonsense. When the tide is high, you can take the steps down into the water, just wear water shoes because there are rocks at the bottom. The water is calm, warm and extremely clear (unlike the Kiwengwa I visited later). - pool! - friendly staff. To recap: I spent a week at Promised Land Lodge, then stayed at another hotel in Kiwengwa village. And I must admit that the week in Kizimkazi was incomparably more impressive. The views are breathtaking, everything here is like a work of art. Moreover, Kizimkazi has fewer tourists than, for example, Kiwengwa. And people here are much more nicer with wider smiles. I will definitely come back here!

I had an absolutely fantastic stay at The Loop Beach Hotel. From the moment our group arrived, the service was impeccable. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly. I’d like to especially mention January, Lucy, and Veronica for their outstanding hospitality—though every single team member played a part in making the stay memorable. The hotel was spotless throughout, and the flexibility offered by the staff made everything feel easy and stress-free. The food and beverages were consistently excellent, and the inclusion of entertainment added a lively touch that elevated the entire experience. There’s honestly nothing negative I could say. The hotel exceeded my expectations in every way and I would recommend it blindly to anyone looking for a truly enjoyable getaway.

After several weeks of safari we turned to Stonetown and then to FUN BEACH Resort. It was like a paradise on earth ! The location so beautiful, together relaxed and vivid, he staff super friendly and having fun in a really coming-from-the-heart setup in their teams and with us. Quality of food outstanding good, support in any cases, shower and change rooms for the time (day) between checkout an flight, organisational support etc.etc. simply was OUTSTANDING SUPERB. We stayed there for 4 days, had to leave due to concepted other destination, but we left there and came back to FUN BEACH (for this one night), to enjoy this wonderful experience in this extraordinarily friendly, happy and qualityfull location. Thank you for taking us as guests ! For sure we will come back.

The apartment was really spacious and quite literally a stones' throw from the beach. The staff were excellent in all aspects and always happy to help make our stay as comfortable as possible. Special mentions go to Diana, Hope, Hans and Shimsa for making our stay there special. The breakfasts were basic but good, and you can order eggs (boiled, scrambled, poached, omlette) which were really tasty. The lunch/dinner options are also very good and there is the option of room service. Highly recommend the live music evenings which also has a BBQ and buffet with local food.

We loved everything! The staff was very friendly and very helpful. We had a lovely stay in the La Luna Apartments. We enjoyed the air conditioning, it is a must-have in zanzibar. The property has two swimming pools and a pool bar which was very nice. The restaurant has the best food! We also enjoyed the Swahili night, it was very fun and it was great trying a variety of swahili dishes. Will definitely recommend!

The beach is beautiful and the water very warm.

The beach is beautiful and the water very warm. Because of the strong tides there's only water in the morning and the afternoon but it makes the beach very interesting and beautiful and gives the oportunity to walk far out and find seashells and starfish. The only downside to the beach is the many very insisting sellers who make it impossible to go for a walk without being approached.

We stayed in a peaceful part of town, where there were noticeably fewer street vendors selling beads and souvenirs compared to other areas. This made the atmosphere even more calm and relaxing, allowing us to fully enjoy the local charm without feeling overwhelmed.

This is not a touristy location... it is off the beaten track... a village, by the sea, with an increasing number of resorts being added. I hope it does not lose its charm to the crowds. This is a quiet, special place.

If you have only stayed at Sheraton, Marriott, Ritz, King George or similar hotels - this is not your place. But if you are looking for clean beaches, clear sea, delicious food, peace, close contact with nature, friendly and courteous staff - this is it. There are many bars and small restaurants along the coast that offer a variety of food. In addition, in the town (of course African) you can buy products that are very fresh, and the people are friendly. Here you can buy handmade jewelry and souvenirs from the local population and the Masai.

Just up the beach from Paje town, a little quieter but thats what was nice. Wandered to different restaurants along the beach for lunch and dinner. Limited during off season but enough open. We came via Dar Es Salaam airport and ferry. If you can't get an e-visa before arrival, plan 2hrs to exit the airport. We missed our booked ferry and had to pay again for the last ferry on a different company. Used Zanzibar Quest to book the ferry and transport with exemplary service and support via whatsapp and email. The new travel insurance requirement $50p/p on top of the $50p/p visa fee is a scam that mars the experience. The amount of times we had to show our passport and visa / travel insurance was reminiscent of the cold war. Inefficient and overboard. So if you can fly direct to Zanzibar and use e-visa or have patience and a loose schedule. The drive to the Page beach area took about 1 ½ hrs with the first ⅓ taking ¾ of the time with a typical african road experience. Get a good driver. Driving licenses are issued by testing payment of fee. The driver booked by Zanzibar Quest was excellent. Great beach, wind was consistent during the afternoon to either kite or cool down. Bring sunscreen and mosquito repellent. Not a fan of the immigration process or the fees.

Paradise …Jim’s, Salim, Irene and Juliane were exceptional...

Paradise …Jim’s, Salim, Irene and Juliane were exceptional always ready to help. They just couldn’t do enough for you. The reception staff especially Yusef were very accommodating especially as we arrived very early from Dar-es-Salam! They let us drop our bags and enjoy all the facilities until our room was ready! We had a wonderful stay in Paradise.

I've been in Makunduchi before and if you don't want to be...

I've been in Makunduchi before and if you don't want to be in the tourist hotspot it is great! The beach is fantastic (but be aware of the low and high tides). I would recommend arranging for a driver to get around as there are many great places to visit and you shouldn't stay put in just one place.
