Such a charming little family run hotel where everyone gets very personalised service. The manager greets every new arrival personally and they give you a WhatsApp number where they send you important information and you can ask any questions. They always respond within minutes. The hotel has a great restaurant but if you stay longer and want to try other options there are some along the beach or up on the main road within a walking distance. The hotel has a lovely outdoor gym and SUP boards that you can use. If you want to be serious with your training they can make a workout plan for you and you can train with a personal trainer (he’s tough though, you’ve been warned 😅). The training sessions were the highlight of my stay. The hotel also has a tour organiser from whom you can book tours and transfers directly. The location is perfect for a relaxing holiday and for winding down. Thank you Moe, Barbara, Andrea and the rest of the lovely staff (including cats and dogs) for making our stay special! I would definitely stay there again.

The hotel is excellent. Good facilities, well located. We were very well received and we were given access to the room at 9am, when we were supposed to only be able to access the room after 2pm. The Staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is very good. It was already my second time in Zanzibar and it was the best, without a doubt. I highly recommend this hotel. I will come back.

We loved pretty much everything about our stay at Hekaya Zanzibar: the location which felt very private (only 5 rooms), the direct access to the beach, the cleanliness, the multiple areas where you can relax, the beautiful garden curated by John (who is kind enough to arrange flowers for the guests relaxing by the pool), the food (especially the bruschetta!), the overall vibe and, last but not least, all the members of the staff who have been extremely polite, helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make our wedding anniversary special also by arranging a private dinner on the beach. We 100% recommend Hekaya to whoever is looking for quiet, peace and relax in a wonderful environment that makes you feel like home.

This vacation was something special for us! We didn’t paid that much attention before the booking in regards to the beach. As we expected a sandy beach as we knew it from previous holidays. However it turned out that this was not that big issue for us as it got overcompensated many times by the hospitality of the peoples working there. It is hard to put it in words, you simply have to experience it. Two minor things are that it would be nice if the kitchen would offer a dinner plan which lasts for 10 days or two weeks, actually the food is repeating each week. However the quality and the kindness of the chef and the entire kitchen team is simply outstanding. The 2nd minor thing is the small bridge leading the way into the ocean. It is almost impossible, especially for older people to climb out of the water at the end of the bridge. But that should not be understood as a complain, it is just a small hint of how to improve further.

The location was fabulous, right on the beach with a spectacular view. The central dinning, lounge, bar area was an incredible architectural design, spacious and so tastefully done capturing the local context and culture. We had a bungalow on the beach with was so spacious with 3 separate areas - a bedroom, a dressing room and a bathroom. The Club was another unique element of the hotel with a wooden bridge/jetty leading you to yet another spectacular thatched dining/bar area.

The staff were very polite and could not do enough. The room was spacious, bright and well equipped. The pool was clean and welcoming. Although the garden had not had time to establish, it was well maintained. The evening walk to the Terrance was relaxing with the beautiful sunset.

The staff here are fantastic! They’re friendly and go above and beyond to be helpful and accommodating. The attention to detail is excellent and the personalised little touches are an extra treat. They just made our stay unforgettable. Especially Hashim and Glory, who we will miss very much and must come back and visit! It’s a beautiful hotel in luscious tropical gardens that feels secluded and private at the same time as well connected with other places nearby to visit and other hotels and restaurants along the beautiful white sandy beach. The pool is wonderful and always immaculately clean with beautiful views of the ocean. The food was also excellent! The best in the area for sure so no need to eat anywhere else. The chef included delicious veggie options every day on the menu of the day so I never ate the same thing twice! The excellent reviews here are truly deserved and I would highly recommend staying here for a relaxing or active few days. Also a shout out to the ladies in the spa, who added blissful pampering to the unforgettable experience! Thanks for having us! Heidi and Anne Gunn ❤️

A fun, lively all-inclusive hotel where you’ll never run out of things to do. There are three large pools, three bars—including a 24/7 bar set out on a pier over the ocean—and three restaurants, so boredom is simply not an option. The Indian restaurant, which is also included in the all-inclusive package, is outstanding—definitely don’t miss it! The entertainment is varied and fun, with live concerts, silent discos, and other activities adding color to the stay. While the strong tides make the ocean less suitable for swimming, the beach itself is beautiful and perfect for long walks. A great choice if you’re looking for a lively, engaging holiday spot!

Lovely hotel to relax in. Not a lot around, but it is walking distance to The Rock Restaurant. We were upgraded to a bungalow right at the front and it was perfect. We stayed on valentines night too and they had live music and a meal. Very impressed.

Michamvi is located approximately 65 kilometers from Forodhani, and the journey can feel quite long—particularly if you have just arrived in Zanzibar. The drive is somewhat uncomfortable due to the condition of the road, which consists largely of worn, uneven tarmac. Additionally, the area lacks local street food options, leaving nearby hotels—most of which are high-end and expensive—as the primary dining choices. As someone who genuinely enjoys the rich and flavorful cuisine of Stone Town, I found the food in the area to be rather bland and not reflective of its price point.

The resort was clean and had the island atmosphere. Food was good and a variety to choose wwwith different restaurants. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Just a reminnder that you will pay extra at the airport for insurance fees and also extra tax fees at the hotel if its not included in your original price.

Please remember that Marumbi is a Village in a poor third...

Please remember that Marumbi is a Village in a poor third world country and therefore there is very little to do. A few local shops. A couple of local Restaurants (We loved Bustani), no bars and a hotel that doesn’t welcome outsiders. If you are looking for nightlife it’s probably not for you.

Michamvi is good for relaxing and enjoying . There are few vendors and they are not disturbing you and friendly. We stayed 25 days at Kikoi Boutique Resort and arranged all excursions on Zanzibar as well as a Safari with Sir Alex at Kikoi for reasonable prices and with good service . Their Cook Mister Mahaveer Sing is a real Master Chef and we enjoyed every meal he prepared us . Compliments to all the people working there. You made our stay unfogettable. This area has less tourism than some other areas in Zanzi...

This area has less tourism than some other areas in Zanzi bar, it has what you need, different restaurangs, a super market, beachbar and so on. There is not so many other tourists here so you feel like its really a part of an small island. If you are looking for highend dining and alot of shopping then i advise you to look for another area or do as we did - get a car or a taxi its ok priced for a full day. The traffic was really suprising - its was better then most so called modern countries - slow, keeping distance -respecting each other - we rented a car for 3 days and it was super nice. We payed 30usd/day + 10usd for the local driving license - dont drive to fast or drunk - the police are really on there toes - and mind the big roadbumps... We ate a lot of lobster and fish - always fresh - never dissapointed, we also ate alot of vegetarian food - its everywere great dishes.

Pongwe Beach Hotel is a perfect place to stay for a relaxing vacation. The staff is friendly and helpful. The beach and grounds are beautiful and well maintained . We love that it peaceful and quiet with no loud music or jet skis. We enjoyed the program put on by the hotel staff that included the guests.

the welcoming commetee was amazing. They made us feel at home. Checking in was a breeze and the pool bar staff was so helpful and friendly. I loved the music by the pool area,it was inclusive to all nations. Tha food was amazing the whole experience was great. I was there to celebrate my birthday and they made it extra special. From the decoration in my room,to the suprise cake and singing.i had a good time. The rock resturant is less than 5min away, we wemt there using the free bicycle offered at the hotel.

The location was excellent.

The location was excellent. The vegetation was very nice, and the seating places were very comfortable. Following my unfavourable interaction with cats, we were upgraded to a bigger room with an ocean view since I have ailurophobia (cat phobia). Thanks to the hotel owners for such a gesture. We had an issue with our bank card, and they also gave us more time during our stay to sort this out. Disliked · Being an Ailurophobia (Cats phobic), I did not enjoy the outdoor space because several cats roamed everywhere, including the restaurant, balconies and stairs. This has nothing to do with the owners but my personal condition. I advise those with similar conditions to avoid this place. Areas of improvement include breakfast - more food diversity and a balanced diet are needed. The beds in the rooms need to be fixed to avoid noise. Bathrooms need upgrading.

It was amazing!!

It was amazing!! Beautiful place and unbelievable accommodation. Food great . The service from the staff was the best ever !!! Both of us fell in love with all of the people working there . Cannot recommend Pongwe Island enough ❤️
