Babalao bungalows is the perfect place to stay in Nungwi! Max the owner is the best host I’ve ever stayed with. He is so helpful with advice on where to eat and what to do and answered any questions we had about the island. All of the staff are excellent. The location couldn’t be closer with the beach just around the corner. Lovely breakfast and food at the pool bar, great facilities, such good value for money and I would recommend this as the perfect place to stay for families, couples or groups of friends! Thanks Max and Co for an amazing stay in Zanzibar!

We spent nearly a week at the newly opened KAI Zanzibar Hotel & Spa in Nungwi as the final stop of our honeymoon — and what a perfect ending it was! From the moment we arrived, the KAI team went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. They personalized so many details for us, including a beautiful floating breakfast to celebrate our honeymoon. We stayed in a villa with a private pool, which was absolutely stunning — and yet we still found ourselves admiring the gorgeous common pool area too. When we arrived after a long safari tour, I wasn’t feeling well, and the team immediately made me a fresh ginger tea. They even arranged a dinner takeout and brought it to our room so I could rest — it’s these thoughtful gestures that really stood out to us. The entire facility is peaceful, relaxing, and beautifully maintained. Our villa and pool were cleaned daily, and it was such a joy to come back to a fresh, welcoming space every day. Mounir and the whole team were so warm and attentive — they truly made sure we were looked after from start to finish. The location is great too — close to the beach and nightlife, yet tucked away enough for some serenity. We’re so happy we chose KAI for the final part of our honeymoon and we’d absolutely come back again. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a boutique luxury experience with exceptional, personalised service! Thanks again for this memorable stay 💗

Amazing hotel in a wild, untouched setting. There’s nothing around except the beach — but what a beach! At first, I thought the restaurant prices were high, but I later realized that good-quality dining is simply expensive considering this zanzibar (25 usd). The food was excellent and the breakfast, which is included, was varied and delicious. The only downside was the spa, which I found far too expensive and not really justified. Offering complimentary paddleboards or canoes would be a great addition — and please, definitely no jet skis. To move around after your stay, keep in mind that the hotel is a little slice of paradise, and in the end the value for money is excellent. Yes, it’s a budget, but considering the overall experience and being right on the water, it is worth.

Hotel is a true gem of Nungwi Beach. This newly built hotel offers a high-quality experience with a stylish and tasteful design creating a perfect balance between comfort and elegance. One of the highlights is the on-site café, where the food is simply fantastic—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The menu will not disappoint. The staff are exceptional—friendly, helpful, and always with a smile. Their positive attitude and attention to detail make you feel truly welcome. The owner of hotel made our stay in Zanzibar truly special. He was incredibly helpful, kind, and friendly, always making sure we had everything we needed. His local knowledge and willingness to share tips and experiences about Zanzibar made our trip even more enjoyable. He also helped us arrange excursions and taxis. One of the best features is the access to owners another hotel just 1 km away along a beautiful beach, where guests can enjoy a swimming pool, a great restaurant, and lively parties. If you’re looking for a peaceful, well-designed, and hospitable place to stay right by the stunning Nungwi Beach, Dhow Boutique Hotel is the perfect choice. Highly recommended!

Everything was excellent, as soon as I’ve crossed the gate to African Bungalow’s, I knew this bungalows have something special. Firstly I came across the owner and I’ve already felt extremely welcomed and well taken care of. All staff working there is super nice, helpful, kind and smiley. Rooms are spacious, very clean, all of them have terrace. Mine specially had pool view (if I’m not mistaken all of them are in front of the pool), so you can enter the pool straight from your terrace which is great. Fact that bungalows have pool is amazing as it gives you a chance to rest a bit from sometimes busy beach around. Walk to the beach is like 2 minutes which is huge advantage of that place also. In general location is perfect. Breakfast is excellent. Amenities in the room are great, AC works perfectly! I’m really grateful to come across this bungalows as it gave me lovely memories! I can highly recommend this place and I promise, you don’t regret staying there. I’m sure I will come back here next time :)

Beautiful villas in outstanding tropical gardens. Servis of all staff was amazing. Whole hotel concept is unique to safe energy, water and local resources. Chef Beral in main restaurant allways come with new fresh and modern ideas for kitchen and meals. Beach is amazing here well maintained and you can find here quiet spot even beach is not whole private and there is also public part but massai security personal cares about guests and their privacy here. This beach is best on island when you are looking for no tide beach there is only minimum tide during day than other Zanzibar beaches. We loved also Spice garden. You don ‘t need to go to others on island - Zuri spice garden is better than other and include all plants and spice and you can enjoy it for free every morning with hotel guided tour.

We loved our 10 nights stay. It is a really cosy hotel, not too big, so for our honeymoon stay was just perfect! We loved the food, the beach, all inclusive drinks, our cute bungalow with terrace facing the ocean! The whole place needs updating, sure - some maintenance, paiting or upgrating - but the first impression of the hotel and our room, was amazing. Hotel has great vibe, with beautiful flowers and plants all around. Open concept was just great! We liked the gym, it is very small but most of the times we were alone so we really, really enjoyed it! The whole team working in the hotel is amazing! They work really hard to provide excellent service for all the guests.

The beach is beautiful and the water very warm. Because of the strong tides there's only water in the morning and the afternoon but it makes the beach very interesting and beautiful and gives the oportunity to walk far out and find seashells and starfish. The only downside to the beach is the many very insisting sellers who make it impossible to go for a walk without being approached.

A peaceful and welcoming town with a strong sense of community and a safe, relaxing atmosphere. This made the atmosphere even more calm and relaxing, allowing us to fully enjoy the local charm without feeling overwhelmed.

Kendwa beach was definitely the best beach compared to Nungwi, especially the south part. Even in low tide it was easy to take a swim. Also the beach here is wider and feel less crowded. As on the complete stretch there were many people trying to sell you stuff but on the south part not so many ”permanent” sales people other than the ones having sheds. The Maasai roaming around are friendly but just say no with a smile and most will not be persistent in their effort to sell you something..

Michamvi is located approximately 65 kilometers from...

Michamvi is located approximately 65 kilometers from Forodhani, and the journey can feel quite long—particularly if you have just arrived in Zanzibar. The drive is somewhat uncomfortable due to the condition of the road, which consists largely of worn, uneven tarmac. Additionally, the area lacks local street food options, leaving nearby hotels—most of which are high-end and expensive—as the primary dining choices. As someone who genuinely enjoys the rich and flavorful cuisine of Stone Town, I found the food in the area to be rather bland and not reflective of its price point.
