We had a wonderful stay at Mianzi Guest House, the rooms were simple but spacious and clean, the common area was very nice to sit in, the breakfast and dinner were fantastic. But what really stood out was the staff, Emma and his team really went above and beyond to make sure we had a memorable stay, they provided everything we needed, even joined us on our tours. We planned to stay 3 nights but ended up staying 5, i think thats telling enough how good it was :) Oh and the view of the Volcanoes in the morning is absolutely incredible!

Fabulous staff-Ema so lovely and friendly and helpful and brought me a hot water bottle and woke me when I overslept and took me to the start of my hike. Brenda who was so helpful and always served my food and came over to my room to take my dinner order. Juliet who was so helpful and who so kindly let me hotspot so that I could message home. My little cottage was idyllic in its own garden with 3 en suite areas for HOT shower, basin and toilet. Very comfortable double bed. Very good food and enormous portions! Served in the lovely dining room with a wonderful log fire in the evenings. The location one minute from the National Park gate, so convenient for the Sabinyo hike that I did. Bernard ( +256 783 152903) the boda boda driver picked me up from the Rwanda border and took me to the camp and to the start of the gorilla trek and then on to Rushaga when I left Amajambere. My Gorilla permit was waiting for me when I arrived.

Santaviva is located in the center of Kisoro what makes the place very authentic. The room was spacious and clean and the bathroom is basic but has everything you need. We traveled by public transport and Ivan, the manager, arranged our night bus from Kampala to Kisoro. It made our journey very pleasant to travel over night instead of during the day. This was if the recommendation of Ivan. It’s also only a 10 minutes walk to from the bus, pleasant. Ivan took us out to a local bar to watch a football match, a place where we normally wouldn’t go I guess. Ivan and the rest of the staff are very kind and helpful. The food is also very good. we enjoyed the place a lot and it was always a nice feeling to come “home” after the gorilla trekking or just wandering around in Kisoro. Highly recommended place to stay in Kisoro.

Wilfried and his family are absolute gems. We had the best stay there, loved sharing our meals with the family and getting to know more about the region through the eyes of a local. Wilfried also helped us organise a day trip to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for my partner’s birthday gift. It was certainly a highlight of our time in Africa. The views from the bedroom were stunning, we spent some time on the balcony just reading and watching the lake. The sunset was beautiful. The cooking was all homemade and delicious with a mix of local recipes and international recipes. The shower was hot and had excellent water pressure.

This place is truly a hidden gem! I stayed 3 days 2 nights, wish I can stay longer. What makes this place so special are the staff. From the manager (pick up me at the town and send to the resort by boat), the boatman, local guide, chef, helper and all in the resort. This resort strategic location is perfect who love quiteness and really into the nature. Trust me once you are here you dont feel like to leave. The staff will serve their best to you with smiling all time. You will feel almost like at home. Thank you so much Nyamunyonyi Lake Resort for your great hospitality. I will definitely come again!

Definitely recommended for gorilla trekking.

Definitely recommended for gorilla trekking. Peaceful, beautiful area with UWA staff offering several options according to your condition: harder trek (rewarded with seldom seen gorilla family) for those who can handle it, easier option for those of us who can't hike far but still want to meet the gorillas. Something for everyone!

We visited first the Ruhija sector where we stayed in the Ruhija gorilla lodge which we did not enjoy. The gorillatreck however was an experience we will never forget. After one day we drove to Rushaga where we spend another night and we were lucky we could arrange last minute permits for the gorillatreck in this part of Bwindi. A whole different experience. We are very glade we did this. Here we stayed in the Rushaga gorilla camp which is very lovely. The restaurant is less cosy, food just Ok and the shop far to expensive but the vieuws, location and chalets make it worth staying here.
