Las Vegas was dirty and dingy. The hotel room wasn’t very clean. The strip was strewn with litter, smelled of Methane gas and there were tons of homeless/insane people all over the place. We came for the Star Train and were not disappointed by the trip. Definitely check out the Nevada Northern Railway when in Ely. They offer a number of different train rides, and the self-guided walking tour is also worthwhile. The Star Train is especially lovely, taking passengers out to the desert at night to a star viewing area, with telescopes and accompanied by professional astronomers. Stateline is undergoing a huge transformation. Harveys is being re-branded with a ton of construction. Inside was seriously a shell of itself. Golden Nugget is also under construction and remodel. The whole area just felt run down. Not the Stateline we remembered from years past. We were in the area for the Ron Fellows Driving School but we did try to explore the area while we were there.
