Dont recommend it for children ( although if u take them, the Excalibur has a Traditional Childrens Gaming arcade in the basement and a childrens outdoor pool with fun toys. But there is a lot of walking required up and down The Strip and it has a lot of beggars/ panhandlers/ drug addicts/ Bachalorette & Stag parties/ and Sex Workers all on show. Not the kind of environment for young children really. The British get a poor currency exchange rate so the USA is expensive for Brits anyway- but Vegas is more expensive than other places in the USA too- then expect to pay a Sales Tax at the checkout- and on top of that- Everybody thinks you owe them a tip for doing their job. I always like Reno since my son lived here all his life and died here so I will always visit Reno until the day I am no longer here. Finding out about circus circus and how comfortable and affordable they are, it will be my destination for always. So expect me back. We came for the Star Train and were not disappointed by the trip. Definitely check out the Nevada Northern Railway when in Ely. They offer a number of different train rides, and the self-guided walking tour is also worthwhile. The Star Train is especially lovely, taking passengers out to the desert at night to a star viewing area, with telescopes and accompanied by professional astronomers. Our view of Mesquite is entirely based at Casa Blanca. We actually leave our home in North Las Vegas to come here for a getaway and to use the spa. Stateline is undergoing a huge transformation. Harveys is being re-branded with a ton of construction. Inside was seriously a shell of itself. Golden Nugget is also under construction and remodel. The whole area just felt run down. Not the Stateline we remembered from years past. Pahrump is a bit of a drive from Las Vegas but it is worth the drive if you want to leave the glitz behind. We were in the area for the Ron Fellows Driving School but we did try to explore the area while we were there.
