- From US$211.80 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 316 reviewsOur third visit to this wonderful oasis. We come to see Andre the manager whom we fell in love with on our first visit approx 13 years ago. He was on top form making everyone feel welcome and ensuring everyone was having a relaxing time. The property has a lovely large infinity pool overlooking the ostriches and fields which is so relaxing, there’s also a seating area and a bar which is is great to lounge in after a busy day out exploring. Breakfast is an excellent varied hot and cold buffet and dinner is a delicious three course event with a Braai of a choice of meat, I really recommend the Karoo lamb or the local ostrich. Room super comfortable overlooking the garden and fields with big king bed and lovely soft pillows, I love the decadent ostrich skin headboards that only this area of SA would have and consider normal. large bathroom with big bath and separate shower, also separate loo. Always sad to leave this place. Parking very safe just outside your room, very convenient. Everything spotlessly clean.Guest review bycatherineUnited Kingdom
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 481 reviewsEverything was just perfect, starting and ending with the people who did everything and beyond to make our stay memorable. Our guide Christopher was very knowledgeable and experienced, therefore able to find so much game, big and small. The reserve is exceptionally beautiful, especially during sunrise and sunset, when we had our game drives. The food was really exquisite, as well as the local wines which were included. Every staff member, from our guide, people at the restaurant, at the reception and the management where very attentive and friendly. We only missed out on the cheetahs, so definitely coming back one day!Guest review bySamBelgium

Then the calmness this place brings to you was exactly what we needed. We had our little encounter with a spider, which was easy to catch and to release. Don't miss the stargazing as it is a view you won't forget. The BBQ on the top of the trees from the DIY was a beautiful experience.Guest review byLaurentLuxembourg

we have been to Oudtshoorn several times over a number of years. The attractions are mainly the same but still worth a visit - however interesting to see how much the town has grown and evolved. The drive through the Swartberg Mountains is NOT to be missed. The primary reason we took this trip.Guest review bySumayaSouth Africa - 8.0

Lovely quiet country village. Interesting little shops & great 2nd hand bookshop. Great walks/hikes & excellent restaurants (highly recommend "Mud"). Lots of interesting history.Guest review byAllisonSouth Africa - 10.0

We should have called the farm manager from Barrydale, because when we arrived at the locked farm gate, we found there was no reception. We couldn't reach him, and it was soon getting dark, so we had to keep driving until we got signal again, which only took five minutes. Wann, the manager, was soon there and opened the gate to paradise for us... remote, behind two other farms, we were able to spend comfortable days in this Karoo resort. Wann was always available, and one evening his wife cooked us a delicious meal. A river, a hot tub, an ice bath, peace and quiet, and an endless sky—what more could you want? This is the place to be for anyone needing a break. For more romance, under the stars, bring candles and reading lamps.Guest review byIsabellaSouth Africa - 6.0
The food we had at various places were really good.
The food we had at various places were really good. De Kranz and Zomlani. The town was without water while we were there because of a pipe that had burst in the main road which caused a detour for quite a couple of days. The warm baths were closed. A few restaurants were closed which was disappointing.Guest review byMargieSouth Africa - 10.0

Uniondale was the centre point of our journey distance wise - so convenient . Also we had not been there before so it made an interesting stop over. Scenery was stunning and the road excellent. Hotel built in 1832 (I understand). Uniondale is about 14 kms off main road and entry and exit are through two mountain passes which were most attractive.Guest review byChristopherSouth Africa - 8.0

From the main road it looks like just another dusty deserted Karoo town. What a pleasant surprise on turning off into the little town. We had a superb breakfast at @Stuff and met some interesting locals. The town is experiencing a resurgence and is intersting, well maintained and spotlessly clean.Guest review byRobynSouth Africa - 10.0

A wonderful spot for a mini break - offers scenic drives and wonderful experiences. The people are generally warm and welcoming. There are many small businesses worth supporting. Stayed at Mooiplaas guest house a few years ago and the service and provisions were highly commendable!Guest review byWSouth Africa - 10.0

Route 62 is a great drive and Barrydale is a convenient distance from Cape Town for a stop, The village is small but has interesting places to visit. Arrive in time to look round and leave the next by lunchtime the next day - that's all the time you need but it's worth taking time to stop and look round. We found it a friendly place and were not pestered by beggars.Guest review byAnonymous
