- From US$253.62 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.7Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 91 reviewsStop looking further and book the Zwartberg Mountain View Lodge, it is magnificent! We stayed for two nights with our four children (9-14 yrs) and absolutely loved the lodge, the view, the animals on the grounds, the pool, the braai dinners and the walking trail. Varley and Hannalize are fantastic and helpful hosts and we very much enjoyed talking to them about life in SA as well as the many great sites in the area. We could easily have stayed another night or two. A highlight on our trip. Easy accessible with any car. Hope that we will visit again one day!Guest review byNicolasSwitzerland
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 407 reviewsThe Chalet was perfect and had everything we required. The best part was the braai station, right outside, with plenty of wood available. The surroundings were beautiful and tranquil, and we saw many zebras and other bucks walking around. The on-site restaurant had really great food and drinks. If you'd like to self cater, the kitchen is well set up. All you need is the groceries and braai meat to see you through your stay. Accessing shops once you are there is not an easy trip, as the lodge is truly in the middle of nowhere... which is wonderful.Guest review bySUMONAUnited Arab Emirates
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 483 reviewsSanbona is a private safari reserve on the scale of a small national park, and run with the dedication of a conservation project. The safari experience is amazing – in our two drives we saw giraffes, lions, elephants, rhino and more. But with our guide's enthusiasm and insight, I felt immersed into the ecosystem of the reserve rather than that I was simply looking at rare animals. The staff often went above and beyond, the family lodge was comfortable, and the food and drink very good.Guest review byDavidNetherlands
- From US$86.46 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 776 reviewsA very nice and lovely place with tasty breakfasts and dinner. The territory is big and beautiful. There are enclosures with ostriches and springboks there which children may especially like. Fishing rods for fishing in their pond are also available there, so despite the location is quite remote from the town, there is still a lot to do on the territory for adults and children. The room was clean and nice with all the necessary thingsGuest review byIrinaSpain

Our accommodation was very comfortable, with all the kitchen equipment you require, great outdoor Braai, an incredible view from the bath. A minimum of 2 nights is a must. This is a real GEM in South Africa.Guest review byCatherineKenya

we have been to Oudtshoorn several times over a number of years. The attractions are mainly the same but still worth a visit - however interesting to see how much the town has grown and evolved. The drive through the Swartberg Mountains is NOT to be missed. The primary reason we took this trip.Guest review bySumayaSouth Africa - 8.0
Lovely quiet country village.
Lovely quiet country village. Interesting little shops & great 2nd hand bookshop. Great walks/hikes & excellent restaurants (highly recommend "Mud"). Lots of interesting history.Guest review byAllisonSouth Africa - 6.0
The food we had at various places were really good.
The food we had at various places were really good. De Kranz and Zomlani. The town was without water while we were there because of a pipe that had burst in the main road which caused a detour for quite a couple of days. The warm baths were closed. A few restaurants were closed which was disappointing.Guest review byMargieSouth Africa - 10.0

We should have called the farm manager from Barrydale, because when we arrived at the locked farm gate, we found there was no reception. We couldn't reach him, and it was soon getting dark, so we had to keep driving until we got signal again, which only took five minutes. Wann, the manager, was soon there and opened the gate to paradise for us... remote, behind two other farms, we were able to spend comfortable days in this Karoo resort. Wann was always available, and one evening his wife cooked us a delicious meal. A river, a hot tub, an ice bath, peace and quiet, and an endless sky—what more could you want? This is the place to be for anyone needing a break. For more romance, under the stars, bring candles and reading lamps.Guest review byIsabellaSouth Africa - 10.0

Uniondale was the centre point of our journey distance wise - so convenient . Also we had not been there before so it made an interesting stop over. Scenery was stunning and the road excellent. Hotel built in 1832 (I understand). Uniondale is about 14 kms off main road and entry and exit are through two mountain passes which were most attractive.Guest review byChristopherSouth Africa - 8.0

From the main road it looks like just another dusty deserted Karoo town. What a pleasant surprise on turning off into the little town. We had a superb breakfast at @Stuff and met some interesting locals. The town is experiencing a resurgence and is intersting, well maintained and spotlessly clean.Guest review byRobynSouth Africa - 10.0

A wonderful spot for a mini break - offers scenic drives and wonderful experiences. The people are generally warm and welcoming. There are many small businesses worth supporting. Stayed at Mooiplaas guest house a few years ago and the service and provisions were highly commendable!Guest review byWSouth Africa - 10.0

Route 62 is a great drive and Barrydale is a convenient distance from Cape Town for a stop, The village is small but has interesting places to visit. Arrive in time to look round and leave the next by lunchtime the next day - that's all the time you need but it's worth taking time to stop and look round. We found it a friendly place and were not pestered by beggars.Guest review byAnonymous
