I can’t describe how ecstatic I was under such a sky full of incredibly numerous and bright stars! The owners welcomed us warmly and were absolutely kind and available for anything. Small town, nothing much to see, experience.
Small town, nothing much to see, experience. Just out of Namibia, an hour from the Noordoewer SA-Namibia border. Has major grocery shops but the town is dead on Sundays/ Public holidays. Has a water shortageGuest review byPreciousSouth Africa - 10.0
Kamieskroon is a very small town.
Kamieskroon is a very small town. You can walk through the town. They do have a small shop for necessities and fresh bread and cooldrinks. They have a butchery and a liquor store. We had breakfast and dinner at Harry's Guesthouse where we enjoyed our stay for 3 nights. We droved through the Skilpad reserve nearby and we had lunch at Murasie. I do recommend their roosterkoek. We took a daytrip to Springbok using the N7 and there we went to the Goegap nature reserve. You can do daytrips to nearby smaller towns from Kamieskroon, but I do recommend a 4x4 vehicle due to the condition of the gravel road.Guest review byAnonymousSouth Africa - 10.0

From the photos we were expecting a beautiful spacious and well maintained place. We were disappointed with the chalet, it was outdated, dark and cold. Would really recommend to pay a visit to Gougap (small park, half a day is enough if you don't have a 4x4). We didn't find anything else of interest in the area.Guest review byKarinNetherlands - 8.0

The quietness, long beach to stroll along, safe beach for children to play. Loved the dolphins playing. People are very friendly. The only bit of negativity is the local Spar prices on non- luxurious items.Guest review byHester - 10.0
Peace and quiet with excellent view over Orange river.
Peace and quiet with excellent view over Orange river. Remember no shops around but no need for a lot of extras. Breakfast and Dinner supplied. It was interesting to "walk" up the mountain behind the lodge for view over Namibia and South Africa. San pictoglyphs and rock formations amazing. It is easy to reach with signage where needed. I whiled away some time on the verandah with jigsaw puzzle and laptop. Relief that they have solar power and bottled water as well as some tipple when asked for. Showers have heat pumps for immediate hot water in ample shower room.Guest review byHannelieSouth Africa - 8.0
Soebatsfontein is small with not much in the way of shops.
Soebatsfontein is small with not much in the way of shops. Take what you need unless your accommodation can provide meals. I am not sure there is a garage for petrol/diesel. It is a great remote spot to do day trips to see flowers in flower season. Expect only gravel roads and watch the routes Google maps may send you on. If they take a long time they may be 4x4 routes. The local town hall is opened with interesting crafts during the flower season.Guest review byHelenSouth Africa - 6.0

We didn't know what to expect upon arrival, but the town really won us over. Clean, quiet and beautiful location. The Hotel was sadly under renovation during our visit, but should be open from April 2025 again. Kuiervriende is a small Farm Stall (Padstal) type vibe where Oom Peet and his wife will happily recommend routes to drive and places to stop at (for the best biltong along your journey for example). They also have a small food menu and sell all sorts - everything home made. Not much else to do in Kamieskroon other than relax, enjoy the fresh air and take in the beautiful views. We luckily went well prepared: there are no shops. Pack your meat, drinks and wood for braai's. Kamieskroon will remain a fixture on our roadtrips going forward.Guest review byRick SmithSouth Africa
