Nice place to stay on a road trip around Basilicata. It is the floor part of a house from the old quarter of Garaguso, set on a narrow street. I had a Fiat Panda and I was able to get right to the building and to park it, but a bigger car should be parked in the central square, 200 m away. The property was clean and it had all the necessary amenities, it looks far better then in the photos, it is a real house, not the standard "set" for appartment rentals. The teracce is indeed impressive, with view to the valley and the country side hills. The owner, Amelia, lives next door and she is very nice and helpfull.

The house was very clean and had everything we needed. It was very peaceful and the view in the morning was a lovely thing to wake up to. We enjoyed having a BBQ in the evenings and watching the falcons circle over the hillside. It only took 30 minutes to reach both the beach and Matera from the house which was very convenient. Pomarico is a small, authentic, Italian town. The locals were very friendly and accomodating despite the language barrier, people were patient and almost happy for us to attempt to speak Italian with the help of Google Translate. The local shops had amazing local produce. I had some of the best bread I have ever eaten from the bakery and the salsiccia pezzente from the butcher was fantastic. I only knew to try all of these things because our host, Antonello was so helpful and full of local knowledge. Every morning he would come and make us fresh cappucinos and provide us with breakfast. He has a great sense of humour and would give me Italian lessons and I would help to improve his (already very good) English. His wife, Stefania visited us a few times and together, they were wonderful hosts. Friendly, funny, helpful and patient. What more can you ask for? We both really enjoyed our stay here and will return in the future. Grazie mille, professore Atonello ;-)

Massimo & Desiree were great hosts! Their apartment is extremely clean and tidy. We could eat at their pizzeria in the evening, if you like pasta carbonara, DO NOT MISS IT, it was D E L I C I O U S (as well as the pizza).

I have stayed in over 100 hotels and b&bs in the past 5 years - this one is the very best I have been to. A beautiful building, large and airy rooms, traditional decor with modern twists all beautifully laid out. My host, Gina, was fantastic helping with everything from transportation from the station to local history. Cannot find anything negative to say - the very best Booking.com has to offer.

It`s a very nice, cosy, clean and modern two room apartment, well equipped and located in a truly Italian city, off the beaten track. If you want to experience Italy away from tourist crowds, Grottole is the place to go. Just be prepared to drive windy roads to and from the beach. Also the area around is nice. The Landlady is very anxious to help and has a lot of tips and ideas what to do and where to go. Altogether a very pleasant stay in a truly Italian environment.
